Since 2006, there have been 5, 4, 4, 6, 5, 7, 4, 9,6, 5, 3,6, 4, 4, 4, 4 and 4 white starters. In 2022, the Owls find themselves starting 4 whites yet again. The stark lack of white backup players surprised me.
Literally, the one "bright spot" on the team is true freshman QB E.J. Warner, who is the son of Kurt Warner. Similar to his dad, he was underrecruited as a high school athlete. Unlike so many white QB prospects, Warner was able to identify a G5 program with an open ear. His celebrity father didn't hurt his cause. Lo and behold, he wins the starting job immediately over two black quarterbacks and has set some individual game records already for a lousy Temple team.
