I am not trying to start a conspiracy or anything I just want to know how Tiger got to drop his ball in the fairway after hitting it in the woods on 18. Did his ball hit a tree and come back in the fairway? I know they said he got relief for causal water but was his ball in the woods when he got relief is what I want to know? I have never seen that before. One other thing Gary Player wore a Golf Saudi logo on his sweater and not a sound from PGA officials that I heard. I could be wrong because I didn't watch all of the program.
Didn't see that booth. I had already headed out to the course to play.
Woods has dropped a shot on number 1 to go back to even. He has drove into the bunker on number 2. Will not get to the green in 2. Could be a tough afternoon. I would say E or -1 will be a good round today.
DJ two back of Willet and Im
Im -4
Willet -4
CA. Smith -4
Scheffler-3
D. Johnson -2
Woods E
Spieth +1
McIlroy +1

Carolina Speed, your favorite Jordan made some outstanding chips and putts in the first round. His bugaboo the last few years is that he makes too many bad shots, which was rare when he was winning majors. I'd love to see him win a second green jacket on Sunday, it would be a most popular win.

Right on cue Don. He was going along nicely today until the dreaded par 12th which was his downfall 5/6 years ago when he gave the Masters to eventual winner Danny Willet. Spieth triple bogeys and goes back to +4. Right on the cut line. Unbelievable!
Tiger Woods +3. losing ground fast.

Spieth doubles 18 to finish +6, with a projected cut of +4. Fire up the private jet and head back to Dallas.

Woods is hanging in there and might make the cut. Mark my words, when the wheels come off, he will start walking with a pronounced limp.

Yep. As much as I hate it for Jordan. He's got some issues with his game again. He once dominated Augusta and now he's missed his first cut ever at The Masters.

Woods flies the green into the forest on the par 3 12th, but as his luck or fortune would have it, the ball falls all the way back into the greenside bunker. That would have been disastrous if it would have stayed in the trees. A straight downhill pitch on a sloped green. He once had a 10 on that hole. He ended up bogeying the hole.
Scheffler has the lead -4

Scottie Scheffler finishes the second round with a five shot lead, tied for the biggest lead after two rounds in Masters history. Scheffler is the number one ranked player in the world and has been red hot over the past six weeks, winning three tournaments and is now on the verge of adding The Masters as his first major. Even if he doesn't close the deal this weekend I'm impressed with his demeanor, he has the look of someone who will have staying power as a top player.

Justin Thomas shot a sizzling -5 under very tough conditions as today was quite windy and the pin placements were tough. He's now at -1 after a poor first round. Scheffler is -8. Of the 14 players at -1 or better, seven have won majors and Cam Smith just won The Players so it's a very nice leaderboard. Woods is at +1, tied for 19th.

The Masters is Scheffler's for the taking. He's at -11 and five up on Schwartzel -6. It seems at this point no one else wants it. At this point I'm pulling for him although I would've like DJ or JT to make a run, but they have fallen way back.
Woods falling back as well. +5. Sixteen back of Scheffler.

Woods three putts on number 18. Finishes at +7.

It was a brutal weather day, very windy and cold, which caused high scores. Cam Smith, the winner of the Players last month, had the round of the day, four under 68 and is three shots behind Scheffler, who shot one under and is -9 for the tournament. S. J. Im of Korea shot three under for the round and is at -4, the only other player besides Smith who would seem to have a chance to catch Scheffler. Everyone else is at least seven shots back and would have to shoot close to the course record of 63 to contend. Weather conditions are supposed to be much improved tomorrow.

CBS of course showed every shot of Tiger Woods' poor round even though he was way out of contention, including lots of lingering shots of him walking down fairways. Here's CBS Sports' current online headline:
2022 Masters leaderboard: Live coverage, Tiger Woods score, golf scores today in Round 3 at Augusta National

The Sporting News is similar:
Masters live golf scores, results, highlights from Tiger Woods & Saturday's Round 3 leaderboard

One can only imagine what the headlines would be if Tiger was actually in contention; they'd be beyond even the most ridiculous National Lampoon type parodies.

Yes the coverage was Macarthur stepping off the ship as he was returning to the Philippines...

Fortunately Woods is on the 17th now. Only two more holes of being forced to watch all of his wayward chips and putts, along with each announcer saying over and over how wonderful and miraculous it is that he's playing.

Lol, all the DWFs are cheering him as if he did something remarkable. Terrible tourney and his injury was self inflicted. He’s a drug addict, which could be sympathetic, if he actually showed signs of remorse and was seeking help to overcome it. Not sure if he is….

McIlroy chip in birdie on 10. Now at -4 alone in third. Although I like Scheffler to win, I wouldn’t mind Rory getting closer to make it interesting down the stretch.
Stranger things have happened in the history of the Masters. Look for it to happen again today.

Rory's finish on 18 after going bunker to bunker! Wow! It ain't over. I feel bad for Smith but this is a merciless sport. It'll be interesting to see how Scheffler finishes. Right now he's got ice water in his veins.

Scottie's rock-solid play took away most of the drama, but it was still a blast to watch. As always there was lots of memorable shots and crowd roars, and CBS in conjunction with Augusta Golf Club always does a terrific job of televising it. Jim Nantz was made for this gig. Congrats to Scottie!

I love The Masters tournament.

You nearly jinxed him with your premature congratulations... Without water and a 5 stroke lead I don't know if it's possible to blow that lead without hitting bunker to bunker but it looked like a mini Tin cup moment when he lipped out and hit a gimme by the hole.

Smith was up and down and Rory was too far back to have a realistic back 9 shot at winning his first green jacket. Scheffler was steady Eddie after his early bogey and if he did that nobody had a shot to win.

At least it's doubtful that Tiger Woods will ever catch the Golden Bear Jack Nicklaus now for the all time career major titles.

The only way to watch almost any sport these days in Amerikka is to hit the mute button as all black athletes are worshiped like a false idols.

Most men's golf professional majors won:

Player
Majors won
Jack Nicklaus 18
Tiger Woods 15
Walter Hagen 11
Ben Hogan 9
Gary Player 9
Tom Watson 8
Bobby Jones 7
Arnold Palmer 7
Sam Snead 7
Harry Vardon- 7

I hope Scheffler is the rare young player to get better after a some immediate early success. The sport would benefit to have a genuine star. No disrespect to DJ, Rory, DeChambeau or Koepka but they just haven’t been great or even consistent for years at a time.
