And it's finally time to kick off the 2022 college football write ups! I am starting today with BYU.
Since 2005, the Cougars have started 18, 16, 15, 16, 16, 16, 14, 12, 14, 9, 9, 8, 11, 12, 12, 12 and 12 white players. This year, the Cougars could start as many as 15 white starters, the highest in 12 years. This may put them as the whitest team in the country this year.
On the downside, they start a black quarterback in senior Jaren Hall, who has a media-backing that is insane even by black quarterback standards. When Hall first became a starter, ESPN made sure to propagandize it beyond all belief, but leaving up a graphic during their TV broadcasts that stated Hall was the first black QB in BYU history.
This team has a heavily poly roster, given BYU's missionary tactics and recruiting habits. Every white player listed below in a position battle is in one with a polynesian player.
RB Jackson McChensey, who has consistently shown flashes of greatness any time he touches the ball, is the listed as the third string RB behind two seniors. Hopefully, this ensures his starting position next year. WR Gunner Romney should be the go-to guy on offense. Back up WRs Chase Roberts and Brayden Cosper should also see snaps.
Offense:
WR - Gunner Romney
TE - Isaac Rex or Daalin Holker
FB - Masen Waake *in a battle for position
LT - Black Freeland *in a battle for position
LG - Clark Barrington
C - Connor Pay
RG - Campbell Barrington * in a battle for position
RT - Harris LaChance or Brayden Keim
Defense:
DE: Tyler Batty
DT: Gabe Summers
NT: Caden Haws
LB: Ben Bywater
LB: Max Tooley *in a battle for position
LB: Payton Wilgar
S; Ammon Hannemann
Back ups looking at significant playing time include QB Jacob Conover, WRs Chase Roberts and Brayden Cosper, C Tyler Little, DEs Fisher Jackson and Blake Mangelson, DT Hunter Greer, NT Josh Larsen, LB Morgan Pyper, DBs Matt Criddle, Jacob Boren and Hayden Livingston.
