I'm watching the Houston Open and by golly I see something I thought had become extinct -- fans! Not a lot of them but there are actual galleries at this event, and they aren't "socially distanced" from each other and a good portion of them aren't wearing masks. God bless Texas. If Biden gets in, expect SWAT teams urged on by Big Tech and Dr. Fauci to mow down the heretics that try such stunts.

Sadly there won't be any fans watching The Masters next week. That just ain't right as the fans are a huge part of the entire Masters experience. That stupid decision was made by the Augusta National Golf Club as Georgia like Texas is one of the least onerous states when it comes to "pandemic" restrictions.

No standing ovation, because the Pfizer vaccine neither prevents COVID-19 nor prevents the spread of Covid-19. It merely purports to lessen the symptoms for Covid-19 for 94% of those contracting the virus. Not too impressive considering the natural human immune system provides a 99.8% recovery rate.

Justin Thomas has agreed to enter a training program to learn how to be brainwashed into not using slurs on the PGA tour. He made the unforgivable mistake of saying the word f##### after missing a par putt and was called to the tent after his round and was told of his sin. He apologizes, but that is not enough. Ralph Loren drops him as one of his sponsors and he must undergo a mandated training program.

Tiger Woods had another back surgery recently. Don't know if he will be ready for the Masters in April.

Hatton hasn't quite become what some in the UK thought, but still a very good player that should win more big tournaments.

Jordan Spieth who hasn't won since 2017 has been playing well over the last two tournaments. He's been in the the top five at both The Phoenix Open and last weeks AT&T at Pebble Beach. He had an opening round of 68 to put him into a tie for 12th in the the round of The Genesis Open in Los Angeles. I hope he gets back in to the win column soon.
He's still just 27 years old and has won three Majors. Still has a long career ahead of him.

I was rooting for Jordan to pull off a win the past two weeks, but at least he's back in the hunt again after a prolonged period of inconsistency and poor results. Hard to believe he hasn't won a tournament since the '17 British Open. The Tour is better and more interesting when he's playing well.

Right Don. Ratings soared 19% from the previous year on Sunday during the airing of the tournament at Pebble Beach. No doubt it was because Spieth was in contention.

24 year old Sam Burns leading the Genesis Open going in to the weekend at -12. With world number 1 Dustin Johnson in a T-2 at -7. Jordan Spieth right there again in the hunt. T-6 at -6. It's a little too cold to play where I'm at this weekend so I'll be tuning in to see if Burns can hang on or Johnson further cements his place at number 1 in the world or can Jordan Spieth come from behind and end his 3 1/2 year drought.

Watching the final round of the Genesis just now and Jim Nantz was talking to Tiger Woods. I didn't know Woods recently had his fifth back operation. He's not swinging any golf clubs yet and didn't sound optimistic about playing in The Masters in April. Could be another lost year for him at the age of 45.

Not that I mind Tiger doing something stupid, but 5 back operations. Sheesh.

I never have known anyone that was happy with their back operation. Nor do I know anyone that has had just one, as it seems the procedures just move the problem around or more commonly make things worse. I'd be curious if anyone here has had a back operation that they were happy with. I know about a dozen guys that regret doing it.

I have a female cousin in her 70s that is having another back surgery next week after the first one a few years ago didn't work out the way it was supposed to. I have another female cousin who's had a couple, including one that lasted for 12 hours! I couldn't imagine going through that.

I think you're right that once back problems become serious they're rarely adequately fixed.

BTW, Max Homa won the Genesis Open today on the second playoff hole, beating Tony Finau, a media darling who has led a number of tournaments but has yet to win one. Finau is Tongan and Samoan and I have no problem whatsoever how he handles himself on and off the course, seems like a truly well-mannered and modest guy. It's the mandatory media love affair with all non-Whites in golf that's annoying.

The PGA Tour has announced that The Tour Championship, the richest prize in golf will be played in Atlanta as scheduled. The announcement comes after MLB said its All Star Game will be moved from Atlanta in response to new voter laws that critics see as a form of voter suppression.
Congratulations to The PGA Tour for having the courage to not buckle to any pressure from anyone to move this event. I hope TV golf ratings soar as the others fall.

Bubba collapses down the stretch of the Travelers, but Harris English and Kramer Hickok put on a drama-filled show for the ages, going head to head for eight, count 'em eight, playoff holes before English won with a long birdie putt. It tied for the second longest playoff in PGA history. Neither is particularly well known but they're both better known now. It was English's 4th PGA win and second this season. Hickok was going for his first title.

In welcome news, Nelly Korda won the Women's PGA Championship, a major. It was her first major and sent her to the top of the world rankings, the first American woman to be top-ranked since 2014, ending quite the drought for Americans in that department. Nelly's sister Jessica also plays on the LPGA Tour, and her parents are Petr Korda and Regina Rajchrtová, both former professional tennis players and both Czech. Peter Korda won the 1998 Australian Open.

Charles Howell and Kevin Na have both withdrawn, not big names but there might be more. Two South Koreans and six other players from various countries have also withdrawn.

I'm watching the Wimbledon final yesterday and there's thousands of screaming fans packed into the arena, many of them maskless, yet there's still all these ridiculous protocols for the golf tournament. England and Canada make America seem almost like a free country by comparison.
