Outkick carried an article recently wondering if it isn't time to end the Olympics. The answer is yes. The Olympics are undoubtedly classified as "too big to fail," but they're just plain too big. What a colossal headache the Games were for Tokyo and the Japanese, not to mention the $15 billion wasted on hosting them in front of no spectators. Host countries have to set up colossal police states to run them, while the citizens of host cities are greatly impinged by all the restrictions that take place.

The original idea behind the Olympics was to promote and honor amateur athletics, which of course are long gone now, as best exemplified by the U.S.'s stable of millionaires in the prominent sports ("prominent" meaning the ones NBC is interested in hyping). And of course there's the "wokeness" and freak show factors. The corporate media used to mock the muscular female athletes from the USSR and the Eastern Bloc in the "old days," but now muscular and burly girls are prized and held up as great role models.

Corporatized, politicized and weaponized, the Olympics have been ruined just like everything else has been by Globohomo. And the horrible ratings only bolster the reality that there's precious little interest in them anymore despite the best efforts of the system to create excitement.

As I wrote a few days ago, the networks loved the Olympics because they drew high ratings. If this is no longer the case, along with the problems hosting them, they will fade away. Due to what they have become, good riddance.

I'm not afraid to admit it. You guys were right about Simone Biles. I was wrong.

I had meant to make this post earlier and forgot, but was recently reminded after the Calvin Ridley news. So uh... yeah, so much for Biles trying to "avoid drawing attention to herself" and all that. At least daily while watching sports highlights on Youtube, I see the ad where she's in front of a camera sobbing about the importance of mental health and "loving yourself first" and blah blah blah.

Of course I still feel awful for her and the other gymnasts after what happened with Larry Nassar, but from what I've seen and heard since the Olympics, that wasn't the primary catalyst for her withdrawal decision. I'd be stunned if she competes in 2024 (gymnasts usually have a pretty short shelf life, she may not have competed anyway), but look forward to her being used as a prop for mental health awareness. She'll definitely wait as long as she possibly can before announcing her retirement, just to keep people on their toes and milk as much media coverage as she can.

I know I've been the source of a lot of drama during my brief time on this forum but I will make a conscious effort to limit my edgy takes. You'll have to pardon me for being a bit naive at times, as I'm only a recent convert from DWF-dom. Looking forward to an exciting White People Olympics in 3 months, can't wait to see who wins the gold medal for most vowels with dots and slashes in their name

I appreciate your apology. My wife is a former gymnast (she can still do 20 back handsprings in a row like it's nothing) and we have three teenage daughters, so the Olympic gymnastics drama got a lot of attention in our household. My wife, with the knowledge she has from her background, said from the beginning that Biles was full of it, and it looks like she was proven right.

I was not sure where to post this but I was reading my NY Post this morning and there was some article referencing Troy Vincent the ex- NFler who is pushing strongly to make flag football a 2028 Olympic sport. Are you crapping me ? Flag football ??????? I used to have respect for the Olympics but this sheisen has gotten way out of hand. Im assuming transgender athletes will be able to compete. I'm 45 and in good shape so maybe I can identify as a woman and do MMA and make a whole lot of money. I believe South Park had an episode covering this topic a few years back. But flag-football. As our illustrious president once and actually says a lot, " come on MAAAAN . "
