The amazing Canadiens win Game 6 in OT and eliminate heavily favored Vegas. They said during the broadcast that Montreal was 500 to 1 odds to win the Cup going into the playoffs but now they're in the finals. With Carey Price in goal they may win the legendary franchise's first Stanley Cup since 1993 (and the first since then for any of the Canadian teams). In the meantime the Tampa-NYI Game 7 tomorrow night should be a classic.

Montreal wins 3-2 in ot to go to the Stanley Cup. Carey Price shows why he is the best Goalie in the game.

Tampa blows a 2-0 lead in game 6 though outplayed by the NYI who deserved to win anyway.
Game 7 goes tomorrow in Tampa Bay.

Cole Caufield has gone from NCAA Wisconsin to the Canadiens almost seamlessly. He won the Hoby Baker award as the best in College Hockey and is a star for Montreal already. JJ Watt seems to be one of his biggest fans.

Tampa wins game 7 1-0 to move on to the Stanley Cup against Montreal.
NYI played great to push the lightning to the limit. The Canadiens finished 18th in the regular season and made the 16 team playoff out of the North Division. Montreal beating Vegas gives Tampa home ice advantage. The Cup should be a great series.
It starts Monday Night.

That was a tremendous series between Tampa and NYI. The Lightning played like the champions they are in Game 7 to defeat the Islanders, who seemed like the team that just wouldn't die.

If Montreal wins the Cup it'll have to go down as one of the greatest upsets in NHL history given where they started from in the playoffs, can't wait for the Final to start on Monday.

Montreal played a very strong Game 2, dominating offensive zone time but with nothing to show for it. Tampa clusters all five of their players in front of their goalie and makes it very difficult for the Canadiens to get high percentage shots on goal.

Tampa wins the game 1-0 and wins the 2021 Stanley Cup.
We saw an all time great team in Tampa Bay win back to back Cups.

Next up is the Seattle Kraken expansion draft on July 21. As Don mentioned, expansion teams get to become instant contenders with this bogus format.
Seattle becomes the 32nd team in the NHL.

Tampa is a great team for sure, going back to back in the NHL by having to win eight straight playoff series is a very difficult feat. Will be interesting now to see if they can put up a serious defense and go for three in a row. They seem to have the talent and the motivation to do so as they've been near the top of the league for a while now yet still aren't an old team. No team has gone back to back to back since the Islanders won four straight from '80 through '83.

Congratulations to the Lightning! As others have said, it’s extremely hard to repeat as champions.

As an aside, Tampa Bay of all places has become Title Town in the US. 2 Stanley Cups and a Super Bowl. They nearly had another as the Rays were in the World Series but lost in 6 to the Dodgers. Of course, the Rays are once again a top team, as well as the Bucs, so more championships are possible.
