honestly, the NBA combine numbers don’t matter at all, at least for American-born White athletes.

why am i so confident in such a seemingly outrageous statement? because it’s factual.

take for example, the vertical jump ... we’re told that being able to jump high is an ESSENTIAL trait for NBA players, yet how many of you recognize the name Matt Santangelo? a graduate of Gonzaga (he led an all-White starting five to the Elite 8), as of 2013 he was STILL top-five all-time in vertical jump:

he never even got a smell at the NBA, despite being an incredible playmaker (see his all-time numbers at Gonzaga for reference) and athlete (see above).

I could list numerous others (Joe Alexander, who was actually born in Japan, from West Virginia anyone?), but i would be preaching to the choir.

Luke Jackson who played with Ridenour at Oregon along with Luenen could absolutely jump out of the gym. He had a much better all around game than Alexander( who might be one of the greatest white jumpers) as well.

If memory is correct both went in the first round but had injuries and also got screwed like current similar players Dekker and McDermott.

I honestly dont remember the Gonzaga kid but started watching them around 2000. Even before Dickau its been a steady flow of top white PG.

No one in this class excites me except maybe the Belmont kid. The Ethan Happ type natural winners will probably have to go overseas.

I remember Santangelo ( see post up above). A little vague but I do recall him. Gonzaga wasn't quite the juggernaut then as they are these days but a couple of years before him was Slovenian Marko Milic. Milic was a young slashing 6'6" wing who could really leap. See below his (once) famous jump over a car.

He was drafted 34th in 1997 and played very sparingly for the Suns for two seasons. I even started a correspondence with him right after he was drafted wishing him luck and all and he would respond sending me a note from Slovenia with these cool stamps. He seemed like a cheerful guy. Too bad his NBA career imploded. He did play several seasons in the Euro league.

We are over a month away from the draft and now that the combine is over the picture is getting clearer. I think.

Iggy by the way had a 36.5 vertical. Iggy and Kyle Guy are not seen as first round picks ( I do though) so the big question with them is where in the second round they are chosen? I think Guy had a solid camp and his athletic measurables were pretty solid. The key is we don't want them chosen near the very end of the draft. That is usually bottom feeder time and most players chosen that late fail to stick.

There is some mystery surrounding where Dylan Windler will go as well. Most have him hovering around the end of the first round or early second. Most mocks have him in the second but I am holding out hope. Unlike the NFL, the difference between say a first and second round pick isn't profound. But in the NBA a first round pick not only sounds swank it has some cache. He has talent and looks to me like a first round talent but time will tell. Windler tested very well athletically which included a 37 inch vertical as I mentioned earlier.

Tyler Herro was the only white invite who did not participate in the athletic testing. His length reading was worrisome. Seems to me black athletes on average have bigger wingspans than whites? That said most have him going somewhere in the 20s in the first round. He was the best white freshman last season. Like Luke Kennard, who opted out of the combine testing too, he will probably perform athletic testing at some point prior to the draft. His basketball smarts are very high and I think the Celtics are showing big interest. He understands how to play team basketball. I would have preferred he stayed at KY one more year but that is settled.

That leaves two international players of note.

C Goga Bitadze should be a solid first round pick. He seems to be rising too. A classic C who can shoot threes look for Goga to become an impact NBA player. Foreign players are hard to judge because I haven't really seen him play in a game but all the reports are mostly very positive. Goga was not at the combine.

But the white player who shot up the draft the most after the combine was 6'10" Luka Samanic. I saw some of his action there and he looks to be a multi dimensional athletic force. Incredibly light on his feet for someone his size. Has an all around game. Seems very suited for the NBA. Now it seems most mocks have him going in the mid/late first round.

Now players work out for individual teams and you will see more fine tuning on mock drafts as time proceeds but I think the player's mentioned above are the ones to watch out for most.

Of course every draft a relatively unknown international player gets selected in the 2nd round and I suspect that might happen again.

It looks to be a marginal draft although I am feeling a touch more optimistic than I was a month ago. One major key will be if Windler sneaks into the first round. It would be a disaster if either Herro, Goga or Samanic drop out of the first.

The other key is that Iggy and Guy don't get chosen towards the tail end of the 2nd round. Guy's size and athletic measurements ( Guy has a better vertical) are basically identical to Steph Curry's. Of course Curry might be the greatest shooter of all time. Not saying Guy is Curry part two. He is not. But he has that certain moxie and skill set that should land him in the NBA so it will be interesting to follow his journey.

I still think what hampers so many white basketball players is as a norm they don't learn the one on one skills like black players. For many black players it is all about the handle and the ability to drive the ball to the basket. Or in layman terms they learn to become talented ball hogs. Look around the NBA and you can readily see the shot differentials between the black stars and their white counterparts.

Team basketball is stressed more for young budding white players like setting screens and such. And that is a good thing. But in this modern era of flash black ball hog style many white players come to the party without a great handle and go home empty. Larry Bird perfected the happy medium. He was a star one on one player but a consummate team player who shared the ball.

I have been waiting for the next Larry Bird for ages now and like always there won't be one in this draft either.

Unlike some years including last year, I am not all that excited about the upcoming draft Thursday night.

There are two sure shot first round picks and two border line first round picks. I will be very disappointed if less than four white players aren't chosen in the first round. Keep in mind when it comes to the NBA first round status sticks out more than other pro sports drafts.

Both C Goga Bitadze and G Tyler Herro were invited to the draft room so expect to see them in the "ballroom" on draft night. And both should be solid first round picks.

The two borderline first round candidates are SF Dylan Windler and PF Luka Samanic. If they both get chosen in the first round I can breath easy. So the draft for me hinges on where Windler and Samanic are chosen. It is a toss up whether they get nabbed in the first round. I am cautiously optimistic that both of them make it under the gun. They deserve first round consideration.

But overall it is a down year for white draft prospects and players like G Kyle Guy might not get chosen at all. He is skipping his senior year at Virginia for what? To not get drafted. On the record I think he should be drafted.

Jimmy, you are all over this topic! The nba and nfl have intentionally destroyed country white players but so have the NCAA and high schools and even earlier! There is absolute an agenda in the states and we must do our part to break it up. One way is for fathers to be extremely involved with their kids and their development etc. Another way is to identify talent early, find ways to encourage the parents, connect with them and find ways to protect that talents opportunities.

If reports are accurate Grayson Allen of Utah has a new home. He has been traded to Memphis along with Kyle Korver. Korver is nearing the end of his NBA career but Grayson is just getting started.

Memphis has the number 2 pick and the 23rd pick was formerly Utah's pick. Utah is getting PG Mike Conley who is 31 years old.

Memphis is widely expected to take PG Ja Morant as the second pick in the draft so overall I think Memphis made a smart move. Looking to rebuild with fresh legs. Time will tell.

While I don't have all the details surrounding the Memphis roster situation at least on the surface this looks like it might boost Grayson's status.

Utah didn't seem to take much interest in him after they drafted him. Granted he was injured but I think and hope Allen will be in a better position to contribute for the Grizzlies than he was for the Jazz.

It is the eve of the draft and I am sticking to my guns. Will be awfully disappointed in Windler and Samanic are not drafted in the first round. Windler has a little Gordon Hayward in him and Samanic is the most athletic white player in this draft.

A first round pick in the NBA has a lot of cache. It is going to be a nail biter because both Windler and Samanic are hovering on that border line. Some mocks have them in the first some have them in the early second.

Again both Herro and Bitadze are pretty much shoe in first round picks. The excitement with them is learning which teams selects them.

Kyle Guy ignored my advice. As if he was paying attention. Ha. Odds are strong he gets left out in the cold. He could have been the main man on campus if he returned to Virginia. Right now he is in flier territory towards the end of the second round.

There should be a few white, mainly foreign, players chosen in the second round see post below.

I used to look forward to the draft, and some years I still do, but this year is a buzz kill. The draft is going to be unbearably coal black if the “experts” are correct with their predictions and mocks.

The thing that really frustrates me as well, is Kyle Guy and Iggy Brazdeikas electing early. Guy should fire his agent when he goes undrafted. Stupid, as his only chance of getting drafted was to be the main man as a senior with Hunter and Jerome gone. Iggy also seems to lack any patience. If he returned and built upon his excellent freshman season, I think he would have been a lottery pick. What’s alluring about being a second round pick glued to the bench or playing in obscurity in the G League? Money I guess.

You guys are certainly doing yeoman's work keeping us apprised of the NBA draft landscape. I guess it would equate roughly to being a beat reporter for the negro leagues back in the day! Problem for me is that NBA ball is almost unwatchable with the total ballhoggery and lack of fundamentals.

I watched bits and pieces of game 6 of the finals while wandering the Southwest terminal at LAX and found it to be a boring snoozefest, even with the stakes. That said and getting back to the draft, good luck to our guys both drafted and undrafted. They're going to need it.

I have several fears regarding the NBA. Many have come to fruition.

One example. A new rumor suggests that Gordon Hayward was being favored by his ex college coach which caused dissension in the Celtics ranks. The "ranks" meaning black players. Screw that. I have had it up to my neck in NBA locker rooms that are owned and directed by black players. The overwhelming majority of the players who shoot the most shots are black. It is a little club that has grown into a monster. There is this ugly pull that pushes white players to the back of the bus. I hope someday the black clique crap starts to dissipate, the sooner the better.

It has turned too many white players into bench scrubs or minor diversions.

I don't want a league where white players are turned into suck puppets and non entities. We are more than half way there but it isn't a complete lost cause just yet.

And I do not think the NBA wants a league where most of the white players are non entities. Some people on ESPN do but that is another story. Mike Greenberg is an anti white sadist of the first order and there are a few others that stick out but generally from a business standpoint and beyond having an all black NBA is too exclusive for overall public consumption.

This is not an inspiring draft but there is still a glimmer of light. Especially if four white players get selected in the first round.

But sadly this is also a draft that feeds the beast. There has been and will continue to be drooling over the "athletic" ability of certain black players in this draft. The pre draft build up and hype for the top black players has reached predictable sickening levels. There was even a story today where C Bitadze was left all alone in his press conference as the greased up media all gathered around a "black stud" and totally ignored him. See below.

For the black supremacy crowd seeing white players turned into nameless entities is their wet dream. Makes me want to puke.

But I don't want to abandon ship just yet even if it feels more like I am holding back the night more than anything else.

in makes me sick to my stomach. The levels of anti whiteness throughout all society must be stopped. Always be proud of who we are and where we have come from!

Tyler Hero gets drafted in Pick #13 to the Miami Heat. I wish Goran Dragic was younger but it's not a bad place to go. He can have a house on the beach while becoming one of the new
rising starts there. Wade retired so they are rebuilding. Hero if treated fair could become an all star in a few years as he continues to develop.

With the 17th pick of the first round the Indiana Pacers drafted Goga Bitadze who is a 6'11 Center who can become star on this team. With Sabonis and a few others around him, the future
is bright for the Pacers.

The Suns moved up and took Tye Jerome at Pick No. 24 in a trade with the Philly. I'm glad he ended up on the Suns. He fits the organization well. He could become a very good guard to go
along with Booker.

Some more good news with the Cavs picking Dylan Winder. The guy can shoot the lights out and is very athletic! What a steal for Cleveland.

In series of shocking moves on draft night, the Suns have traded a top pick for Dario Saric, pulled another deal to get Aaron Baynes, and then also drafted Tye Jerome. The Suns have
just become a fun team to watch out of nowhere.

The draft wasn't too bad once you got to the later stages of the 1st and then the 2nd round. Alot of our guys got drafted. I want to look at the percentages in the morning.

Iggy went mid second round, as predicted, to the Knicks. In somewhat of a mild shock, Kyle Guy actually did get drafted to the Kings. Still a stupid move imo.

All the others White guys drafted who have not yet been mentioned are European players I know nothing about.

The draft wasn't too bad once you got to the later stages of the 1st and then the 2nd round

It wasn't an ideal poker hand to start off with but given the circumstances I think overall this turned out to be as good a draft as it possibly could have been.

Yes Iggy and Kyle Guy were drafted which is good. I agree with above post that Kyle Guy ( a real favorite of mine) could have been a featured star in his final year at Virginia and being picked so late the percentages of making it are relatively slim. But that said I hope Iggy and Guy can carve out a bit of a career in the NBA.

The three Euros drafted in the second round do not jump off the page. Big man Smailagic is very young so he has some time. Dallas nabbed a shooter in Sirvydis.

But the most important part of this draft was yes all four of the top white prospects were chosen in the first round!!! That made the night.

Pin me against a wall and I would tell you I can evaluate basketball talent better than football and baseball. About a month into the season I said here at CF Tyler Herro was the best white freshman and that turned out to be the case.

Herro had on a colorful suit ( ha) which prompted ass wipe Jay Bilas ( can't stand him) to mention Austin Powers. There were a few fancy outfits last night but at least unlike the NFL draft nobody was wearing a dress. That alone is a victory. Ha.

Herro did surprise most by ending up as a lottery pick. Now I thought one more year at KY would be the move but it is hard to argue that when a player gets picked in the lottery. That said he has been compared to Nik Stauskas. Nik, who left Michigan after his sophomore year was the 8th overall pick in 2014 and has a middling NBA career. And at this stage Nik was probably a better shooter than Herro.

But Herro has great form and shot 95% from the free throw line which portends good things for long distance shooting. Also Herro is a much better all around player than Stauskus. And when it comes to instincts and basketball IQ Herro is top of the line.

Bitadze has the all around center skills to become a solid 10 year starter for the Pacers.

Luka Samanic is the premiere white athlete in this draft and should blossom into a fun player for the Spurs. Might take a year or two given his age.

Sweating out the latter stages of the first round but the Cavs nabbed Dylan Windler as the 26th pick Wonderful. Windler in my estimation is the second best white athlete in this draft. Very nice leaper and moves with fluidity. And has three point range. Sort of like Gordon Hayward. I really like this pick. And I like Windler an awful lot.

None of these teams are front liners but perhaps that will work into their favor and allow them to get nice playing time.

All of the white players chosen in this draft have true basketball skills. It was heartening to see teams draft them over so many of these black freak athlete types who lack proper skills.

Note Ty Jerome is part black which I think most here know. But he is a very smart and skilled player which makes up for his lack of jumping and running ability.

Sure there were other white players of intrigue like leaper Max Strus and crafty Ethan Happ. Both have "NBA talent." But in this day and age no NBA team would dare pick a white guy like Happ who had a 46% from the free throw line. The room for error for white players has decidedly decreased over the years.

But all in all given the relatively slim palette I am pleased.

For those let down a bit with this draft, next year, at least on paper, is more promising. Four possible lottery and or first round talents to remember.

PG Nico Mannion-- think Steve Nash with a bit more flair and a lot more bounce. Expected to be a one and done at Arizona. A winner.

PF Matthew Hurt--long willowy Duke signee with great shooting range and can rebound. Nice athlete too.

SG/SF Deni Avdija--a Jewish Gordon Hayward clone who can do everything. Might even turn out better which is saying something.

SF Franz Wagner--younger brother of Moritz, he is expected to choose between staying in Europe or playing at Michigan very soon. I hope the latter. Smaller than his older brother but a better athlete with more upside.
