Mississippi State has started 1, 2, 2, 3, 5, 5, 2, 2 and 2, 2, 3, and 1 white(s) since 2005.
Over the years ranks among the least diverse teams (Mississippi highest % black pop. in US)
This season = 1 ?? The QB position to be settled soon

Question is?? ...Does Penn State Grad transfer QB Tommy Stevens (6'- 5" 235) Win the job over incumbent Keytaon Thompson ?? Stevens is plenty athletic; even played some RB & WR. Nearly the same size as Nick Fitzgerald. He also has the experience of playing under Joe Moorhead when he was the offensive coordinator for the Nittany Lions.

This article says Stevens
https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/m...qb-battle-to-be-settled-soon-but-who-wins-it/

The lack of white O-Lineman is an eye opener

2 Deep...WR Austin Williams (Soph.)6'-3" 205 ...Scored 3 TD's! on 10 catches/137 yards as Redshirt Freshman...4.0 GPA
Others to Watch ....QB Garrett Shrader(Fr.) ; TE Brad Cumbest (RS Fr.)/ baseball

Decent Walk-on for Skill positions .... RB Connor Hegan (Fr.)..will he ever play?

OFFENSE (1 )
QB Tommy Stevens

DEFENSE (0)

2 - Deep...Strong Safety > Landon Guidry (Soph.); In 17' Suffered a season-ending ACL injury in scrimmage as Freshman; has eyes set on NFL!

Other player to watch for ...LB Jett Johnason (RS Fr.) Redshirted after playing 2 games last season &
DE Jack Harris (Fr.) 6 '- 3" 245

The Bulldogs do have 3 White defenders on scholarship..not every SEC team can say that

Thanks TwentyTwo.

If anyone can unearth some optimism out of a team like MISS STATE then it would be TwentyTwo!

There are too many blacks on this team. But I will say this. One can understand to an extent that a team like MISS STATE of course will have a black heavy roster. That doesn't bother me as much as the schools from less black populated states like Tennessee and other teams who sport similar black heavy lineups that don't reflect in the least their local populations which skew a lot more white than Mississippi which is the blackest state in the country.

LB Jett Johnson? Makes me think of that old cartoon The Jetsons. Ha. Maybe he will see the field a bit?

But still three players offer some encouragement. QB Stevens reminds me a little bit of Tim Tebow.

WR Austin Williams should improve on his freshman numbers and has some talent.

S Landry Jones? Totally forgot about him. Was an all around athletic stud in high school and I suspect will work his way into the lineup and eventually might become a star down the road. If memory serves he was discussed here at CF back in 2017?

Good stuff Shadowlight! Thanks

Agreed.....Marshall Thundering Herd comes to mind. Class of '19 had ""ONLY 3 of 29 players"" from their home state of West Virginia..& 9 from FLORIDA.
The Oregon Ducks are another example...Signing very few players from their own Home state in recent Classes.

True ...will be keeping an eye on Landon Guidry...a rare white DB getting some playing time in the SEC!

Stevens wins the starting job. Last few days have had a rare run of white QB's actually winning qb battles. Good luck Tommy.
