Nice job Sean89. We talk about Dallas and Miami alot as far as teams to watch. Sacramento is good as well as Milwaukee. What other teams do you recomend?

They announced the nba mvp final 3 candidates today. Lebron, Antetokounmpo, and Harden. What a slap in the face to Luka Doncic. He had his 17th triple double tonight. He beat the Greek Freak Antetokounmpo and outplayed
him in every way with the exception of blocked shots. Doncic had 36 pts, 19 assists and 14 rebounds! No one and I mean no one in the NBA is as valueable to his team as Luka. No one can put up triple doubles on a nightly basis. The
only other current guy who used to do this was Westbrook and he won the NBA MVP that year. I guess it doesn't matter when a white guy does the same thing. It must be his white privlege. What a joke! To add to this Lebrons Lakers
keep losing and he isn't even the leading scorer on his own team. So explain to me how Doncic isn't the MVP? Harden has great numbers but even he can't touch the value of Doncic.
In other news, despite the Heat losing they put Tyler Herro in the starting lineup tonight. Hero had 25 pts, 10 rebounds and 8 assists! He just missed a triple double. Duncan Robinson who also starts had 25 pts, 3 rebounds and 3 assists!

Flipping back and forth between the PGA I pretty much watched two full basketball games yesterday. The Spurs beat the Pelicans even though ageless JJ Redick went off for 31 points. Sir Chub A Lot Zion ( who I will admit is a nice guy) kept going in and out of the game due to conditioning. Yes sir that's what you want to see in the first pick in the draft. The tag team Spurs center brigade of Poeltl and Eubanks combined for 25 boards and 4 steals. Eubanks went 4-6 from the court continuing his high shooting percentage.
Also watched the entire Celtics game against the undermanned Magic. C Vucevic scored over 20 but the Celtics pulled it out despite defensive struggles. Two things concern me about the Celtics. Their overall defense might not be good enough to propel them into the finals. And banged up PG Kemba Walker has not played well. They are paying him big bucks but he is on a limited minute count due to a knee issue. C Daniel Theis isn't anybody's idea of a star but he is an active rim runner. Kanter has no lift but is still a formidable rebounder. Gordon Hayward was brilliant last night. 31/9/5 slash line while going 12-18 from the court. But lost in the shuffle was his run down block on an easy layup late in the game that kept the Celtic's hopes alive while they were down several points. He also had a couple of vicious two handed throw down dunks early in the game.
I did not know Iowa big man Jarrod Utoff was in the league? He is picking up scrub minutes at Washington.
Grayson Allen continues to play well scoring 20 on 6-14 shooting in a Memphis loss. They are vying for a playoff spot with Portland etc..
While twin big men Collins and Nurkic didn't set the world on fire last night back up Mario Hezonja had a good game for him scoring 10 points on 5-10 shooting and pulled down 7 boards in a key Portland win. Been a tough year for Mario.
I am impressed with color announcer Jeff Van Gundy. Not overly caste he is erudite, smart, worldly and funny as hell. And not afraid to admit he is bald and ugly. Ha. I like listening to him. Mike Breen is a decent play by play guy but Marv Albert remains my favorite. But every time I think of Marv I recall that "hotel incident" one of the great comedic moments of all time. Talk about embarrassing. I guess it could have been worse. He could have been caught with a man. Ha.

I have been watching a lot of NBA games since the restart and I think the play has been pretty good. I have gotten to the point where I ignore the "Black Looting Matters" backdrop and the irritating little slogans on their backs. Just yesterday I caught the Boston/Memphis game followed by Dallas/Portland in a game where Porzingis hit 7-9 three pointers.
Most important to me is if the caste affect has deepened? As a natural pessimist I am always concerned about the creeping caste shadow in sports and at times feel that it will swallow everything in it's path. But since the start up, at least so far, I haven't noticed an increased caste affect. In fact if anything it seems the White players are playing more prominent roles than before the start up.
I do get annoyed with all the checking out the video on close calls junk ( which affects all sports) and I am not certain the refs have been especially sharp but maybe that has to do with lack of crowds? There is a background crowd noise piped into the telecasts too. The bottom line is I have been pleasantly surprised out how well things have turned out.

The NBA’s new golden boy Giannis Antetokounmpo has been suspended a game for head butting Mo Wagner. Giannis isn’t much of a thug so I was kind of surprised by this. I was not surprised that the player he head butted was White. It seems like blacks take great offense whenever a white player is tough and physical with them. I would bet every cent I have that if you were to go down the list of NBA physical altercations over the past 20 years if not longer you would find White players highly disproportionately represented.

Today is the last game of the "regular" season. Ssturday Portland and Memphis will battle it out for the 8th playoff spot. Portland will be favored and even might have a chance to knock off the Lakers who are the number one seed in the West. That would be nice.
Just wanted to voice a few impressions on some young European players who got some playing time the past week or two. At this early stage it is nearly impossible to forecast where they will be five years from now. And it never hurts to remind people that some stellar players got off to slow starts in their careers. For example Detlef Shrempf averaged under 10 points a game four out of his first five years in the NBA. Goran Dragic, who began his career at 22, averaged under 10 points a game his first five years as a pro. Maybe there is still some hope for 24 year old Mario Hezonja, a highly athletic leaper and early first round pick who now comes off the bench for Portland. Then again Hezonja has shot under 32% from threes during his career and at this point the ship might have sailed as far as becoming a steady starter?
Dzanan Musa ( Nets) is in his second season. His stats and playing time are low end. He looked OK when I saw him play the other day but too early to even speculate on the 20 year old. Known to be a shooter but at this point that hasn't shown up albeit in a limited amount of time.
His teammate Rodion Kurucs is further ahead on the curve but averaged less minutes and smaller stats in his second year. Kurucs is a good run/jump athlete and has shown glimpses. He lacks that steroid strength that has become a standard for so many NBA players these days. At 22 I am having trouble speculating on his career curve. I suspect he will move in a positive direction. He has shown he can hit three pointers.
Daria Saric is now 26 but playing his best basketball ( even though the stats are similar to other years) as a backup on the Suns. When he started off with the 76ers I wasn't overly impressed. He had some skill but seemed heavy legged. But he has improved his body and looks much more fluid now and has been playing good basketball during the bubble return. With his nice skill set next year he might make an even bigger leap forward.
Goga Bitadze is a center for the Pacers and I hope to comment on him later. Haven't really seen him play yet but will probably get a good chance this afternoon in the TV game against the Heat.
But for me the most promising young Euro is 6'10" 2019 first round draft pick for the Spurs Luka Samonic. He played nearly the whole season in the G league and at 20 offers some promise. Last night he scored 16 points on 5-10 shooting and grabbed 5 boards in their loss to the Jazz. Looking like a young Tom Chambers in build and movement he will be a player to watch. I was very impressed with his speed, bounce and quickness at his size. He moves like a guard. He scored very high on all the athletic tests at the NBA combine last year.
I glanced over some reports on him and scouts feel he needs to improve his three point shooting and become more focused. They mentioned he tends to drift and shies away from contact. Like many lithe young colts he needs to improve his stamina and strength. The much smaller Dragic might serve as a good template. Dragic too was touted for his all court speed etc. but it took him several years to get in the flow. I suspect Samonic will follow a similar path as well. If he can put things together watch out. I always root extra hard for high flying fast White players to succeed. Samonic fits that bill to a tee.

The playoffs are all set now that Portland beat Memphis in the entertaining play in game today. I watched the entire game and Portland C Josuf Nurkic impersonated the great ( the rare time he was healthy) Bill Walton in the first half. Nurkic had I think 17 rebounds in the first half. He finished with 22 points, 21 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks. His center counterpart Valanciunas also had an impressive stat line. Nurkic might be the most underrated player in the NBA?
Unfortunately Zach Collins had to leave in the first quarter with what was deemed ankle inflammation whatever the hell that is? No idea what is status is for their upcoming series with the Lakers. I am rooting for Portland to beat the Lakers and LeBron.
There are 8 teams per conference ( East and West) in the playoffs and all the playoff matchups are best of seven which surprised me a little. So expect a long drawn out NBA playoff situation. But play has been fairly crisp so expect some heated battles. There will be enough White players involved to keep things interesting in nearly every series.
Dallas got a bum draw facing the Clippers who many feel are the frontrunners to win it all
Playoffs start on Monday and they will be televised throughout the week.

It was good to see the Miami Heat beat the Indiana Pacers in Game One. The Pacers are without Sabonis(best player)for the playoffs but they still have TJ McConnell and Doug McDermott. Regardless I believe the Heat is
the team to root for other than the Mavs as do most of us here at the board. The Heat always start 2 or 3 of our guys every night all season long. Out of 9 players that play regular minutes, 4 of those players are our guys. It would be 5 of our guys playing if they didn't punish Leonard. Can't ask for much more fair than that. Almost 50/50 and thats is even with them screwing over their starting center Meyers Leonard due to him standing for the national anthem. What a joke! He deserves better.

The Dallas Mavericks evened the playoff series with the LA Clippers at 1 game a piece. Despite Luka being in foul trouble the whole game, he still broke the all time NBA Playoff Scoring Record held by Kareem by 1 pt. Doncic had 70 pts in his first two playoff games so he is all alone in the record books. Alot of the fouls called were very questionable in my opinion. Luckily the Mavs Bench played great.

Regarding the NBA playoffs I am suffering through two major problems and one much smaller minor one.
First off the minor one. Portland, who was flat as a pancake last night, is playing without Zach Collins who is out at least a week with an ankle issue.
Now for the bigger stuff. I suffer from dizziness that can get activated by various things but usually I have it under control. Unfortunately much like that dreaded football sky cam that low angle camera they insert throughout the NBA games has triggered my dizziness hence I am having great difficulty enjoying the games since watching them is literally making me sick. I am not alone with this affliction. It affects certain people and I might have to discontinue watching the games. Brutal. I don't know what is gained with that gimmicky camera work anyway?
Second problem is my favorite NBA player, Boston's Gordon Hayward, suffered a badly sprained ankle in their opener against the 76ers and is going to be out at least a month. And then with his wife expecting a baby in September he may miss more time on top of that if the Celtics advance. What a damn bummer. Guy can't catch a break. After missing an entire year with a brutal ankle injury he started off slow last season but came on as the season wore on. But he had a bad playoffs. This season he was off to perhaps his best ever season and then played exceptionally well during the bubble restart. In fact he was only the second guard in the NBA to shoot .500 from the court. But even then Hayward had a much better three point shooting percentage. Only Middleton of the Bucks, who shot just below .500, ranks with Hayward when it comes to overall shooting efficiency.
As for Miami, see above posts, I have watched both of their games and Goran Dragic has taken over both games. At 34 he still has the legs to compete. I like the way this team plays. They share the ball and play team basketball. No ball hogs here. And Duncan Robinson has a beautiful shot. He was on fire yesterday. I especially like to see Dragic and future young all star Tyler Herro on the court at the same time. Fun team to watch.
Pat Connaughton went off last night with a 15 point 11 rebound game in a big Bucks win. He was hot from three point land and they mentioned his 43" vertical and all around athletic ability. I knew he had MLB talent but I didn't know he could throw a football a country mile too. One of the best all around athletes in the NBA.
In the West of course Dallas is the easy choice here at CF and their battle with the Clippers has turned into the marquee first round match up. Doncic, unlike so many White American players, has what they call a great handle (dribbling skills). Not an easy skill to acquire but typically young black players are ahead of White players here in the states when it comes to dribbling. There are exceptions of course.
The draft lottery was last night and Minnesota grabbed the top spot. The draft is October 16th. Not sure if they are holding a draft combine?

Pat Connaughton went off last night with a 15 point 11 rebound game in a big Bucks win. He was hot from three point land and they mentioned his 43" vertical and all around athletic ability. I knew he had MLB talent but I didn't know he could throw a football a country mile too. One of the best all around athletes in the NBA.
In the West of course Dallas is the easy choice here at CF and their battle with the Clippers has turned into the marquee first round match up. Doncic, unlike so many White American players, has what they call a great handle (dribbling skills). Not an easy skill to acquire but typically young black players are ahead of White players here in the states when it comes to dribbling. There are exceptions of course.
The draft lottery was last night and Minnesota grabbed the top spot. The draft is October 16th. Not sure if they are holding a draft combine?

As for Miami, I have watched both of their games and Goran Dragic has taken over both games. At 34 he still has the legs to compete. I like the way this team plays. They share the ball and play team basketball. No ball hogs here. And Duncan Robinson has a beautiful shot. He was on fire yesterday. Although I am not a fan of trash-talking, I personally hate discipline for name-calling.
During a battle, I feel a player should have the freedom to insult another player. Performing poorly due to verbal assault reveals a weak mental state.
But if the league is going to punish a player for utilizing a gay slur or racial slur, then you have to be fair across the board.
Double standards? We shall see:

The all-black 76ers are on the verge of being swept by Boston. Just 2 seasons ago, they were up and coming, White-friendly team, featuring Dario Saric, Marco Belinelli, JJ Redick, TJ McConnell, and Ersan Ilyasova in their rotation. Even Nic Stauskas got some minutes. Times have changed, for sure.

Im hoping it goes at least 6 games as Gordon Hayward is sidelined for a few weeks. In the unlikely event they make a deep run in the playoffs its a much better look with him out there. Of course it would be nice to see Philly get swept as well.
Either LA team or Houston making it out west makes this completely unwatchable. We need Dallas to turn it around today.
