Williams will be 37 at the end of September and the Australian Open is over 4 long months away. Williams knows she is finished. Her meltdown began when Osaka came back to tie at 3-3 after Williams was up 3-1 in the second set. Osaka beat her 6-2 in the first set and, to her, Osaka's momentum seemed insurmountable and she just lost her mind.

Williams is one Grand Slam victory behind Margaret Court's 24. It's unlikely Williams will win the next French Open, so if she doesn't win in Australia next January, she has to wait about 9 months for her next chance to pass Court.

There is a good chance Williams will never pass Court and she'll continue to have outbursts such as this until she just hangs it up for good. I wouldn't be surprised if Williams retires for good after the 2019 US Open and doesn't win another Grand Slam from here on out.

Aww poor widdle Serena. Another epic temper tantrum. I don't know is she is "finished". The fat lard was still able to make it to the finals. The fact that these white European girls are allowing this obese almost 40 year old to beat them is upsetting.

Unfortunately, as long as she has her freakish power, whether it's natural or not, Brutus will remain a big factor at the grand slam events. However, she's also slow now, and makes lots of unforced errors, especially when she's playing someone who also has a lot of power, as Osaka does, who can keep some pressure on her. Osaka made few unforced errors and matched Williams' power, which equaled a decisive victory that Brutus had to ruin rather than go down with some class and dignity.

She's one away from tying the all time record and 2 away from breaking it.

It amazes me how she can beat any players that make it to the quarterfinals or further into a major as she is clearly a good 20 to 30 pounds overweight.

Yes the commentators were neutral at best when Williams pulled her " enfant terrible" act and deserved the one game loss. Like Don said the game was probably irrelevant as she was down a break and hadn't broken Osaka.

Williams is mentally very weak, she reminds me of Mike Tyson, when things are going her way she will stomp on her opponents throat, but like Tyson when she is has to bare down she starts whining about any perceived slight or rule infraction and then can go ballistic in a fit of panic.

Seems like Williams' lateral movement and reflexes are diminishing. I think she has hit an inflection point. She is not mentally tough enough to play at 80% capacity. I predict 0 future Grand Slam victories for her and several more epic meltdowns.

Williams' antics were a psychological cry for help yesterday. She reminded me of the female Milton Bradley at the end of the 2007 MLB season - these meltdowns are really just their subconscious minds trying to get them out of a situation that is too stressful for them.

Most odd caste couple I've seen. Even with some indian and black mixed in Barbados. However, i appreciate Osaka's composure and humility over what Serenazilla did at the grand slam, and the fact that she beat her. I wish plisova beat serenazilla earlier. WTA shouldve suspended her.

Djokovic wins his third US Open, beating Del Potro in straight sets. The Djoker has now tied Pete Sampras with 14 majors. He'll probably win a few more but it's going to be hard to catch Federer at 20. Nadal has 17, a number Djokovic should get to, but the problem is that Nadal's back to almost the level he was at about five years ago so the Spaniard will probably win more majors himself. Australia is now set up nicely with half a dozen legitimate contenders.

I watched a replay of Williams melt down. I think her main bitch was that she was being penalized for behavior that gets a pass when the mens players do it. Probably smashing her racket? She was going on and on about "is it because I'm a woman?" which is funny because it would be one of the few times that she is mistaken for a woman. Can the tennis guru's here weigh in on that? Do the men get more leeway when having temper tantrums?

If I have a chance I want to do a mini wrap up of the US Open and my pick for players of the year which is obvious on the men's side.

The loutish and boorish Serena is getting a lot of support from the media and tennis people. Throughout her career starting with her big mouth father Serena has veered from playing nice, usually when she wins, to awful spasms of behavior. Remember when she threatened the lines women here at the US Open. She told the women she was going to shove the tennis ball down her throat. Not nice any way you cut it.

The whole incident is being dissected but I find her temper tantrums on the far end of the spectrum so comparisons to men who have flare ups is pushing it. One can argue the coaching penalty could have been just a warning but smashing her racket is a mandatory penalty. Of course after three penalties a player loses an entire game. The umpire in my mind should have warned Serena that if she keeps up her nasty act she will get docked an entire game.

Of course the timing couldn't have been worse as it essentially gave Osaka the upper hand with a 5-3 lead. But in the end the media fuss is overwrought. Osaka was the better player up to that point. And rules are rules and Serena as mentioned above figures they don't apply to a strutting black women. From her outrageous outfit at the French Open to her baby act here Serena is exiting the grand stage ( I predicted as far back at the French the Williams sister era has ended) the same way she was ushered in. Loud and annoying as hell.

And for the second major in a row Serena had the easiest draw imaginable. Her toughest foe at the US Open before the final was wilting Pliskova who was ranked 8th but has been limp all season. Pliskova doesn't move all that well and her claim to fame was a couple of wins against the Williams sisters at a previous US Open.

As some of the posts above mention we are witnessing a powerful long time dominating player lose her grip at the top and she is handling it like a classless baby. And it shouldn't surprise anyone.

Nothing surprising here. At CF, we have a long-running thread devoted to Brutus' complaints: serena-williams-wahh-wahh

Limbaugh just spent the entire second half of his first hour covering this and destroying the media narrative as well as Serena on it.

"Big mouth" and an anti-White racist. I wonder how he feels about his half-White granddaughter from Serena.

Was briefly reading some AP story about how the WTA (women's tennis association) now wants "equality" with men in how they're treated on court, as if something as subjective as a player's emotional outbursts can be objectively measured and quantified. The same article mentioned how female players are already allowed to be coached in all but the Grand Slam tournaments, but men aren't. Oh, and the girls win the same amount of prize money as the men even though they only play best of three sets, or 60% of the five the men have to play. Typical feminist "equality," meaning tilting the field even more in favor of women.

Below is a well reasoned piece on the incident.

http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2018/09/serena-williams-2018-us-open-code-violations/76875/

Also the male player of the year is a slam dunk. Coming back from the wilderness and then beating the epic master Nadal at his own game in a 5 set marathon at Wimbledon before winning there Djokovic follows it up with a commanding performance at the US Open. 14 GS titles? Who would have figured.

Djokovic brings back the idea of the truly great athlete. Not a muscle bound steroid like NFL type robot. Just a remarkable athlete with tremendous quickness, agility, stamina and flexibility. Tennis players are generally considered the greatest athletes in the world and you can see why. Just watching Djokovic dot around the court and hit precise shots tells you all you need to know about the concept of superior athleticism. Add all of these qualities to the mental part of the game and you have the well rounded athlete par excellence.

As for the female player of the year I am happy to report that my favorite, cutie pie Simona Halep gets the nod. Simple. She played in two GS finals ( winning the French is spectacular fashion and battling to the end at the Aussie)) was number one and played extremely well on the hard courts except for her early disappointing US Open exit. No one else can match her resume this season.

Wozniacki beat Halep in a momentous Australian open final but faded from view after that.

Stephens played some top tennis this year (at times) but lost in the French Open final and didn't bag a major this past year.

Serena lost two GS finals and was no where to be seen for most of the year due to her pregnancy etc.

Kerber bagged Wimbledon with an impressive win over Serena but she too drifted at times this year and lost an epic French Open match to Halep.

Finally Osaka, the surprise US Open winner can't match Halep's overall resume for the year.

So Halep is my choice for female Player of the Year!

Hey all,

Been out of town and unable to post online.

The Linebacker meltdown was painfully epic. This "professional" has been playing on the tours for 20+ years and THIS is how she displays her "courage" and "strength" according to her and her lap dogs in the LSM. Utterly pathetic. I watched it happen live and was loving it knowing the more she talked and talked and whined and whined her true self and the whole dindu selfism was manifest for all the world to see. The more these duped people talk the more those of us who are woke see it more and more clearly. The division of not just Left versus Right but Selfish NWO twit versus Real American 1.0 is full speed ahead divided further and further and further.

And Brutus utterly ruined the whole experience of Osaka winning her first Grand Slam. Screw ethics and protocol and the decorum of a great sport created and played for over a century by Gentlemen and Ladies from our kin. It doesn't matter to these overpaid, overhyped, spoiled, entitled, coddled individuals.

That's what selfish "magical" people do, isn't it?

If you think all this crabbing and complaining by Serena and her posse will amount to anything other than dog barking think again. This is tennis we are talking about. Not the NFL, NBA or even MLB. Don't expect an apology by the chair umpire. There is also a rumor going around that tennis umpires and officials might boycott future Serena matches. This is highly doubtful but just the mention of it is making a statement that nasty uncivilized behavior will not be tolerated.

They have their rules and by God they will enforce them if need be. Tennis is also arguably the whitest sport out there because its "modern day" (12th century France is where it all sort of began yes it is ancient) roots stretches back to Lawn Tennis in Victorian England thanks to the invention of the lawnmower. And you can't get any whiter than that folks.. See below white women at play circa 1880. Ha. Just a reminder to Serena that she didn't invent the game.

Great pic, Shadowlight.

I read the streamer yesterday saying that the USTA statement on the Linebacker issue was that the Chair Umpire acted with courtesy and professionalism and was indeed within rules and guidelines on his issuing the warnings and subsequent code violations and the penalties the Linebacker incurred. It was more than good the Association heads stood by him.

Ludicrous Leftist Michael Wilbon had just advocated on national TV that the Chair Umpire should be suspended about a half hour before the official USTA statement was released. I smiled inside and out.
