With the 49ers on offense and the Packers on defense the field was watchable. Other way around was coal black.

I concur with La France. My interest level fell off sharply when Green Bay had the ball. I was disappointed budding star Kittle was relegated to dink and dunk duty.

Last night's game filled me with DREAD. It had many of the markings that I fear will take the NFL down the NBA like rabbit hole.

Since the NBA begins tonight I have two major issues with the league. The first is the true lack of white stars on meaningful teams that are difference makers. The other problem is the style of play is just not exciting for me. It is as if the sole purpose of the league is to highlight black stars.

With that in mind I couldn't shake that awful feeling last night. These games are not fixed in the traditional sense where the outcome is predetermined. However what seems to be fixed is that these games are geared towards having black athletes make all the big plays in the league with a couple of exceptions like say Thielen.

Many times I don't feel like I am watching a competition. It seems like I am watching a show or a showcase as if the main reason for big time sports is to constantly showcase and highlight black athleticism. The long passes for instance.

Meanwhile you can't help notice that the defenses are mostly black these days. Last night the best defenders on the field were Martinez, Fackrell and Matthews. All white.

Yet as this so called game went on it felt as if the LBs and DBs were in concert with the black WRs in some strangely choreographed theater performance. Why are these defenses so bad and why are the DBs and LBs so helpless against their black counterparts?

Yet at the Combine and every pre draft hype buildup the DB black players are described as the best athletes in the world. This narrative is shoved down our throats with a shovel. As Don alluded to in the Tampa Bay thread I think the greatest issue in the NFL is the stunning decline of defensive play. Yet there are no calls for changes. The ceremony will continue unabated as far as I can tell. We will have putrid defensive play to go along with hyped up black offensive stars. The black defenders will be given their usual free pass although if they happen to make a great play it will be accentuated to the nth degree.

And this tale which feels like a narrative will continue pressing forward without any cries for changes. If white defenders muck up their entire careers are in jeopardy. The double standard as we all know has never been more obvious.

So for the next NFL draft expect the same old merry go round where the greatest athletes in the world known as black DBs get drafted by the truckload as analysts get all excited about their God given talent.

And the show--not game --goes on.

The bigger question will be whether white fans will continue to accept this whole thing. On some level white fans to varying degrees realize something is amiss and that sports which is supposed to uplift the spirits is more of a downer. I have said this more than once. The greatest source of white misery is the state of modern day sports and the underlying racial component that keeps pushing the "blacks are superior" narrative.

When will the public reach a breaking point?

Great points, Shadowlight. I have been seeing the same things for years with the rules changes and coupling that with recruitment and media narrative and ludicrous superlatives of Blacks doing their overpaid jobs, often half-hearted. It's not "fixed" per se' but it is definitely manipulated extensively.

The only aspect I disagree with you about is your view that sports being the greatest source of White misery with its underlying racial component. I understand your sentiments but sports is just one tool used by those who control viewership. It's merely a part of the agenda of the media and we know who controls it top to bottom and we know their end game.

To me there is a primal aspect to sports. Not totally unlike sex albeit there are some differences. Sex tops it in sheer ecstasy terms. Ha.

But sports does enter the psyche in a very visceral and immediate way. It stirs up primal energy and moves people in certain directions. It is not exactly an intellectual exercise and it definitely doesn't move people as deeply as art. Listening to Beethoven and watching sports may give the same sense of pleasure but one is fully aware that Beethoven's music reaches a person in a much deeper and more significant way. You just can't compare a genius of the highest order to sports athletes. But sports is a life force nonetheless.

I find it fascinating that as far as I know there have been no studies on the impact of white fans on modern day sports and the plethora of black dominance. Shouldn't someone conduct a study on the impact sports has on the conscious of white fans as they battle through caste talk etc.? Does it affect the subconscious and perhaps the unconscious too and if so to what extent?

I remember when I picked up my mail one day and Sports Illustrated had a cover exclaiming "Whatever Happened To The White Athlete?"
It was 1997 and I recall reading it over and over again. I liked the idea that the subject was being brought out into open. I don't have the article anymore although I am sure it can be accessed through the web but I think it is important for sociologists to monitor how modern sports and it's racial components affect general populations.

Perhaps there is a study out there but I don't know of one but it is high time someone delve into the subject.

I've thought about the idea of a book and thinking "Not Running To Daylight" would make a fine title. This white/black sports breakdown needs a hell of a lot more serious exploring.

It beats sweeping it under the rug as blacks gain a stronger foothold on the sports landscape. Hell the other day I tuned in on a USA Team friendly international soccer match and most of the team was non white. Wasn't soccer the white suburban sport just a few years ago?

This whole area of the racial component of sports and the impact on fans is an area ripe for discussion and serious scholarly research.

Fantastic post, Shadowlight.

Coddling blacks via an institutional RacialSpoilsSystem leads to dystopian results. On and off the fields. The malcontents and psychos - and other assorted weer-dos and flamers - just keep multiplying in these leagues! Without the 'evil constraints' that are standards, this is the natural course. Dennis Rodman's everywhere...
