Vikings SS Harrison Smith was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 16. Smith is having a monster season, yet was somehow not voted to the Pro Bowl. Last Saturday night against the Packers, Smith allowed just two catches for two total yards in his coverage and picked off Brett Hundley twice. Over the last four games, Smith has allowed just five catches for 13 yards. He also plays elite run defense. Smith is far-and-away Pro Football Focus' No. 1 safety.
During the 2012 draft the mainstream media had Mark Barron rated as the number one safety. What's interesting is they used a certain phrase about him. They said he's the best safety "and it's not even close." Different analysts kept using the phrase "and it's not even close." This is a tactic the liberals use, they keep repeating phrases.
I think the reason they tried to build up Barron is because they knew a white man, Harrison Smith, threatened their racial agenda by playing well a position they had forbidden to white men. So they praised Barron while indirectly demeaning Smith.
As it turns out it was Harrison Smith who turned out to be the best safety in that draft class. And it's not even close.
