Since 2005, Iowa State has started 14, 12, 8, 9, 6, 11, 10, 11, 10, 9, 5, and 6 whites. This year they make a big jump back up to 10 starters (11 in power run formations). Former starting QB Joel Lanning has transitioned to the defensive side of the ball, already locking down a starting linebacker position out of spring camp. Georgia transfer Jacob Park will take over at QB.

Offense -
QB - Jacob Park
WR - Trever Ryen
FB - Sam Seonbuchner (when they use one)
TE - Chase Allen
LT - Jake Campos
LG - Robby Garcia
C - Julian Good-Jones
RT - Bryce Meeker

Defense -
DE - J.D. Waggoner
DE - Spencer Benton
LB - Joel Lanning

Notable back ups include QB Kyle Kempt, Zeb Noland, TE Sam Harms, LT Sean Foster, LG Bryan Larson, C Will Windham, RG Josh Knipfel, RT Kory Kodanko, and DT Matt Leo.

That's great that Lanning will be starting LB, and Park takes over as QB. So Park leaves a program with too many good white QB's, goes to one that could use him, and his predecessor finds a spot on defense, whats not to like about that.

We usually see steady (and sometimes steep) declines in the numbers of White players colleges put out there from year to year. Nice to see Iowa State bucking the trend.

Now id like to see the Cyclones put it all together and put together a winning record as a result of these positive recruiting trends.

They had a head coaching change in 2015 and shortly thereafter I started noticing that more White players were being offered than the previous staff. There were also articles that talked of the need for a "culture change", so I guess this is the result...at least for now.

I have a feeling there will be another qb exodus from UGA - they have both Eason and Fromm - true sophomore and true freshman. I personally do not understand the appeal of UGA for big time QBs as they have not put a 1st round qb in the NFL in recent memory.

The new coach was Toledo's old coach and helped them rise up in the MAC. Hopefully he focuses on those Midwest white athletes that Nebraska has ignored for decades now. If I were him I would also be looking at Montana and the Dakotas for all those white kids who grew up playing 7 on 7 like Chad Greenway - a bunch of tough as nails very athletic kids from those parts.
