Karolina Pliskova, a 6' 1" Czech, defeated Brutus Williams in straight sets, the second straight year Williams lost in the semis. Halep tested Williams last night in the quarters.

Brutus started acting hurt toward the end of the match with Pliskova; maybe she was hurt maybe she wasn't, but Pliskova outplayed her from the beginning and earned it in front of a center court crowd that was heavily pro-Brutus.

Maybe it was summer playhouse night as she acted winded and kept on twisting her wrist. She did look winded to me but what do you expect when she has a literal pot belly that she hides in a dress. This year is probably the other side of the hill for Williams as her stamina isn't what it was even 2 years ago. Sometimes after years of abusing your body an aging athlete can't shed excess weight without draining themselves ie Ali in the Holmes fight.

Ps. Kerber won tonight and will play in her third major final for the calendar year. She should be the betting favorite.

I had a feeling she would lose because of what happened the night before. What happened? She had a bruising three set encounter with Romanian Simona Halep. I've noticed Serena has difficulty recovering from long hard matches. She needed that extra day's rest. Funnily enough she would've had it if ESPN, ever the leader in cultural Marxism, hadn't wanted to brag about having the women's semi-finals in prime time for the first (or maybe second time) in history. lol Otherwise the women's SF would've been Friday afternoon as it usually is.

A complete Gael Monfils clown show going on right now on Arthur Ashe against Djokovic. On most points he's not even trying. It's like some kind of rope-a-dope thing that even left liberal John McEnroe is pretty disgusted by. Chris Fowler just said that if Monfils were any other player he'd be booed by the crowd. Hmm...what's he mean by that?

Djokovic into the Final. Should be a very good Final no matter who he plays. If he wins he has to be considered as among or actually the greatest of all time.

Angelique Kerber defeats Pliskova in three sets in a really well played match to win the women's title.

The media was all set to anoint the Hulking Linebacker again, but it was Kerber who topped off a great year. On Monday she'll replace Brutus as the number one ranked player in the world. She won the silver medal in tennis in Rio. And she won the Australian and U.S. Opens and was runner-up at Wimbledon.

Chris Evert was wondering after the match about when was the last time a non-Williams had such a good year, and so was I. The last White female player to win two majors in one year -- Justine Henin maybe? She's a late bloomer, but Kerber is now a dominant star and hopefully will keep it going in 2017.

One thing I find hilarious is that they list Kerber at 5'8 and 150 lbs and Brutus at 5'9 and 155 lbs. Brutus hasn't been 155 pounds since the eighth grade.

Stan Wawrinka knocks off Novak in four sets after losing the first set. He now has three majors, the same as Murray, and only needs Wimbledon for the career slam. With Nadal bedeviled by injury and Federer still great but just a notch below being able to win the Slam events, the long era of the Big Three of Federer, Nadal and Federer, with Murray just below them, is now a Big Three of Djokovic, Wawrinka and Murray. Wawrinka is 31 so who knows how much longer he can stay at the top.
