The most troubling thing is his closing speed isn't there anymore. He started dying down the stretch of the 200 when in his prime he would be surging down the stretch.

Also with 3 weeks to go for Rio in the past when he medaled or finaled his form was close to his peak form for the season. Off this form he won't get beyond the semi finals in the 200.

At the Diamond League meet in London, Lemaitre came in 5th in the 200m losing to not only Usain Bolt, but Adam Gemili, and Bruno Hortelano.
Lemaitre gave up his title as fastest European in the 100m a long time ago.
Now he is no longer the fastest European 200m sprinter, or even the fastest white European sprinter.
He is just a pretty good sprinter. Nothing more.
Time to let him go.

He has been consistent though, running 20.2-20.3 which is great! He is still with Caraz and continues his training, that is what is most important.
Hortleano is turning into something real good.

You can see Hortelano run past Lemaitre in the homestretch.
I agree that I can't see him in the finals for the Olympics.

I am amazed out how much Hortelano improves each time out, he took .21 off of his PB this time and was coming down the lane like a freight train, excellent speed endurance.....I see bright things in the near future for this young Spaniard, I also like the fact that he is cheerful and relaxed before the race. He will go sub 20 quite soon....

Incredible UK record run for Laura Muir yesterday. She has quietly become the best clean miler in the world, and if the arrest of Jama Aden makes Dibaba mortal again and/or the Kenyans get scared of doping from the arrests, Laura could win gold this year. She already has two Diamond League wins to her credit. Her is her incredible victory in yesterday's London DL. It's impossible to say anything negative about this young lady:

In the American Track League Houston, Jenna Prandini pulled a double, 100 meters, 11.21 and 200 meters 22.42

Good to finally see him produce when it counts. Zalewski has the talent. He proved it in his junior sprinting years. Since he hit the senior level like many he has dropped off. Hope these two new personal best times will give him confidence going forward. He has great natural ability. He just has to put it together on race days.

a pleasure to watch Laura Muir. She was never going for 2nd place. Another great Scottish athlete.

Incredible time by Julian Reus. That is his 3rd sub 10.10 of this summer yet he can only
do it on home soil Even if he would have went sub 10 today, his critics would say it means
very little as he never comes close to these times abroad. I don't understand why. He has
the talent. I think he gets nervous against european and international competition when
he is in other countries. Not sure why as he seems to be an extrovert. Very outgoing and
social yet he tightens up in races outside of Germany. I still love this kid and damn does
he ever deserve to go sub 10. He has pushed that 10 second mark for 3 consecutive years
now and he can't get much closer than today. Congrats on yet another new german
national 100 meters record time! Hope he can show anything in Rio.

That is a very good time. Remember he has had a long season and he has major issues with his form/technique. I am
really excited to see what he can do with proper coaching. Damn I wish I could have watched this race. I had no idea
it was on. Thanks for the update.

In terms of white girl 100 meters times, Lalova and Primalova both posted 10.77s. Daphne S has looked so strong this year, she should be able to kill that time at the Olympics. She looks well coached, confident and is peaking at the right time.

Sad news. 2016 Euro 200m champ and all around feel-good story of the year Bruno Hortelano was badly injured in a car wreck. Word is his hand is at risk of amputation.

The Japanese showed their speed and technique in the Olympic relay taking 2nd to Jamaica.

Track and Field News has ranked Adam Gemili and Christophe Lemaitre, 3rd and 4th respectively, for the 200m in 2016.
Not bad!
We've seen high rankings in the 200m before, but can't remember 2 of our guys being ranked this high in the same year.

Meanwhile, on the women's side, Jenna Prandini and Hannah Cunnlife were ranked 5th and 10th respectively in the US 100m for 2016.
Also a remarkable achievement.
Prandini was also ranked 9th in world in the 200m.
