2015 Outdoor Season

The 2015 Outdoor Season will be starting this weekend for some athletes from around the globe. Clermont has always been known for
some very fast times due to hot sprinting conditions and a nice track. The german sprinters will open up their summer season this
weekend in Florida. Julian Reus will be running in the 100, 200 and 4 x 100 meters relay along with many of his teammates. It will be
interesting to see what kind of times they open up with. I predicted Reus would go sub 10 last summer. He broke the german national record but fell just short running a time of 10.05! I will be shocked if he doesn't go sub 10 this year. He would have done it last summer but he eased up before the line and it cost him a sub 10. I doubt he will do that again. I'm hoping some of his teammates will also coninue their hot sprinting too.

For those of you who missed his new german national record time of 10.05, here it is. You can see he slowed down on purpose with 5 to 10 meters to go as he had the race won easily. So close. Here is the video.

We never hear much, if anything, from South America in track and field.
But I did see that Isidora Jiménez of Chile, set a new National Record in the 100m of 11.45.

The time is solid time, not great; but moves her up to an international level. So she's one to keep an eye on, and hopefully she will continue to improve.

Some early results from Clermont. Dafne Schippers ran a windy 11.03 to finish 2nd in the prelims of the womens elite.

tighntness. The other guys looked ok but just about every race in not wind legal. Hopefully we can see the wind slow down a little

this woman can fly. So excited to see her get her first wind legal sub 11 sometime soon. She is the female Lemaitre.

She is by far and away the fastest White American ever. She also might be the fastest non Eastern Bloc White sprinter. It's close but I don't think Gaevert or a few other solid sprinters ever broke 11. WOW....:yo:

It's very early in the year to expect a lot of out of the athletes from Europe. They aim for June through August.

Fantastic run by Prandini. She keeps improving. I remember seeing her run when she was in HS and when she went to Oregon I admit I wondered if she would end just being a long jumper and maybe allowed to run the 100/200 as a "utility athlete".

Wow this is the most incredible american sprinting news since Wariner won a gold medal in his first olympics. A sub 11 by a white american woman. Fantastic. It puts the myth to sleep at least for a while. I can't imagine watching a white female representing america in a world championship or olympics. It's very early but if she holds this form or improves on it she can make the team for this summers world championship of track & field. I'm so pumped right now. Amazing acheivment and wind legal. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!


Now it's John Teeters turn hopefully this year as well. I can dream can't i? He has the talent to go sub 10 wind legal. He just needs to do it!

Oh, but there's more. I didn't see this one, but I just read that the 22.42 she just ran to win the 200 is also the fastest time in the world. And that was with only 0.1 wind.

I hope she doesn't peak too early this season. Her focus next season should be on the Olympics rather than the NCAA's. Her improvement has been steady and superb.

Not a bad mark for opening the season, but last year I think he ran 10.14 at this meet.

Patrick Feeney, formerly of Notre Dame, won the men's 400m at Mt Sac in a good time of 45.69.
Glad to see that he is still running seriously.
And Jeremy Wariner opened his season at 45.98 at a meet in Texas.

That is a good starting point for a base for Teeters. Curious what the conditions were like?

I noticed that Shane Crawford ran in Clermont. He ran a 10.41 which isn't great but it's nice to see him still competing occasionally. It's been a long time since he graduated from school. Love to see guys still pursuing their dreams.


I also forgot to mention that Kieran Showler Davis of England(U.K.) ran a wind legal 10.27 in Clermont, Florida today too. It was one of
the few wind legal times of the day with the wind at 1.6! Not a bad start for him. He is 23 years of age now.

Her 10.92 time also makes her the 2nd fastest collegiate ever!!!
And the only faster time was run at altitude. So you can make the case that Jenna has run the fastest 100m ever by a collegiate woman.

Teeters ran 10.20 in Oklahoma, not Mt Sac. Wind was only 0.2.

Jenny Adams did it a few years back for a World Championship team. But you have to go back 40+years for Kathy Hammond and Patty van Wolveraere-Johnson for an Olympic team.
Ps. I can't think when a White female made the 100 meter team. It might go back to London or even Berlin.

So much happens at a huge meet like Mount Sac that it's impossible to remember all of the highlights, but I think we should make note of the Lambournes and indeed Utah St in general. I believe we've discussed Cole Lambourne in his h.s. days as a guy that should have received a scholarship to a top school. He's now a junior at Utah State where he has been joined by his brother Clay, a freshman.

At Mount Sac Cole Lambourne won the second invitational section of the men's 400. The first, of course, was won by Patrick Feeney. Lambourne went 46.12, I believe, which is real speed.

Brother Clay, meanwhile, won the second fastest heat of the 800--leading from the start and, despite that, opening up a wider gap at the finish. A week or two ago, Clay--a freshman--defeated Christian Sorratos, who is regarded as the second best mid-distance runner in college (behind Cheserek).

Finally, the Lambournes got to team up on a 4x400 with Parker Bluth, who has a wind legal 10.37 to his credit, as well as some sub-21 200s. The other runner was Tanner Hunt, who is about a 47-high man right now in the 400. Running against two professional teams and several college teams that were supposed to be better (such as Mississippi state), Utah State finished an astonishing second.

Patrick Feeney - ex Notre Dame - followed up his win at Mt Sac, with another win in Guadeloupe, running a PB of 45.51.
Glad to see he is continuing his track career following graduation.

Yes, and also worth noting is that Feeney anchored the US 4 x 400 at the Drake Relays a couple of weeks ago. He took the baton slightly behind and won the race with the fastest split of any leg. The video is available in the USATF section of Runnerspace, I believe.

And speaking of relays, I can't remember if I mentioned the epic duel in the Penn Relays when Jordy Williamz blew past that legendary kicker Edward "The King" Cheserek in the insanely entertaining last leg of the DMR?

More relay news--Great work by Belgium in the World Relays 4 x 400. If there were just one more Borlee brother, they'd have the best team in the world. Also, Wariner ran a surprisingly decent leg for the US. And if you haven't read about LeMaitre in the 4 x100, check out his thread.

Exciting result from the Big 12 Track Championships today. John Teeters ran a new p.b. of 10.07 in the prelims wind legal. Hoping for
similar conditions tommorow and for him to continue his assault on the 10 second barrier. Alot of strong competition so he will be pushed
the whole way. It would be amazing if he could go sub 10 and get the championship win on Sunday. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The mens 200 is coming up shortly. Sam Watts is running for TCU I believe. Good luck to him.

Nice to see the emergence of John Teeters. White americans can be part of the elite in sprinting/dominate in center field in baseball/be great athletes in the nba but can't even be a back up cornerback in the domestic level sport of the nfl. go figure

Many whites would make excellent cornerbacks but it's all about stereotypes. They don't want to believe that whitss are athletic. They don't even give the kids a chance the majority of the time. We will save that conversation for the football threads though.


Many more whites would be stars in track & the sprints but very few compete. Not enough interest. It's a shame because there are many
more Teeter types out there. Especially in America. So happy for Teeters but hope he can go faster tommorow and win the title.
