Since 2005, Colorado State has started 15, 16, 17, 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8 white starters.
Expect 8 this year.
After back to back successful Garrett Grayson led seasons in 2013 and 2014, the Rams look to remain competitive with a new starting QB, Red Shirt Freshman Nick Stevens, and a new head coach, former Georgia OC Mike Bobo who replaces Jim McElwain who shoehorned his was out of CSU and bolted for Florida before the teams bowl game.
The 2015 version of the Rams squad will see the lingering effects of the Black Plague left by the departed McElwain that saw the number of starters drop to single digits for the first time that I can recall. The racial makeup is very similar to the 2014 squad with a white QB and O-Line, and Kawulok and Morgan anchoring the defense.
With this being Hansley and Kawulok senior season, expect the Rams to turn into a neo-traditional white QB, O-Line, and seldom used receiver team with a coal black defense. All 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] stringers behind the trio are upsiders.
I expect more of the same from Mike Bobo for years to come, who spent his entire life around the SEC in Georgia.
OFFENSE
Nick Stevens – QB
Joe Hansley – WR
Nolan Peralta – TE
Mason Myers – LG
Fred Zerblis - RG
Kevin O’Brien – C
Sam Carlson – RT
DEFENSE
Joe Kawulok – DE
Other notable names include Mitch Parsons, a TE who transferred from Vanderbilt and is eligible to play this year.
Expect 8 this year.
