The ultra-liberal University of California at Berkeley under Jeff Tedford consistently followed the pattern of the University of Miami and others by actively recruiting players from the ghetto. Under Tedford, the Cal Bears literally featured numerous players with SAT scores below 1000 and high school GPAs around the 2.5 mark. Combined with the white guilt philosophy of the university this caused the team to be one of my least favorite on the west coast. Since 2005, they have started 7, 7, 11, 6, 8, 9, 6, 5, and 8 whites. Third year coach Sonny Dykes seems to at least willing to recruit more white athletes from Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, which Tedford completely ignored. It will be interesting to see if the underwhelming Dykes can maintain his job after this year, and if he does, what this team will begin to look like as the products of Tedford's ultra-caste recruiting classes are weeded out.

This year's team will start 8 again, with QB Jared Goff being the main reason to watch. The lanky and athletic quarterback could be a quick riser this year and a first round draft selection is not out of the question this year. Converted QB Luke Rubenzer is battling with another white player for the starting safety job. Rubenezer could also see time at QB in different formations that will utilize his athleticism.
Offense -
QB - Jared Goff
LT - Steven Moore
C - Addison Ooms
RG - Jordan Rigsbee
RT - Brian Farley

Defense -
DE - Kyle Kragen
LB - Jake Kearney
S - Griffin Piatt or Luke Rubenzer

Back ups who should see playing time include true freshman QB Chase Forrest, TE/WR Raymond Hudson, WR Chad Hansen, LG JD Hinannant, RG Kamryn Bennett, RT Dominic Granado, DT Trevor Kelley, DT Tony Mekari, and LB Nathan Broussard.

True. Sleeper team for us in the Pac 12.
The nice thing is Dykes seems willing to bring in white receivers. He always had one or two starting during his tenure at Louisiana Tech, last year he brought in Austin Aaron and this year he already has Matt Laris and Logan Gamble as commits. Under Tedford there were loads of receivers and the only white ones were the roleless walk-ons

Great write up. Looking forward to seeing Goff take the next step in his development this year. He gets very little national recogniton. I guess he doesn't have dat exciting melanin induced upside.

I am glad to see Rubenzer on the defensive side of the ball now, he is a good athlete and will hopefully thrive as a safety.
