Hey guys, just to let you know high school sprinter Zachary Smith is in the 100m finals of the 17-18 year old division posting a 10.66 in the opening heat and a 10.78 in the semi-finals. He had the fourth best time so he should get lane 6 for the finals on Sunday.

Also, they have him listed as a '96, so he could be only 16 and could run this another 2 years. Yes he's the only '96 in the finals, most of the top finishers are '94's, so possibly a lot of potential with this young man.

He's from Florida, so maybe some of our CF members from Florida will know more about him. I will keep everyone posted on the Sunday finals!

Anyway, hopefully this is someone to keep our eye on!

Great update my friend. I have to look more into this kid. Maybe he can eventually be anther Brandon Byram. We sure could use more white american sprinters. They are almost as rare as dinosaurs. Does anyone have any video footage?

Just wanted to update everyone on the 17-18 100 m finals. Zachary Smith finishes 7th overall with a time of 10.78. Although l was hoping for at least a 4th, it's very encouraging that we not only have 1 white sprinter in the finals, we also had another by the name of Brandon Thompson, 10.78, who finished 8th overall in the finals.

That's 2 white sprinters in the 17-18 year-old division FINALS of one of the most prestigious meets in the country for track athletes!

Also encouraging is that Smith was the youngest sprinter,'96 birthday, in his division to make the finals. All other finalist were '94 or '95. Being a '96, he could still be only 16 and should be able to compete in this event for 2 more years. I will be looking for him in the coming years.
