Here are Iowa's white starters since '05, 11, 13, 15, 15, 13, 12, 11 and 12. Iowa is projected to have 16 white starters this year. Iowa will obviously be one of the teams to root for as it is year in and year out.

This year they boast a couple of great players - TE CJ Fiedorowicz who is one of the best TEs in the country and MLB James Morris - one of the best yet unsung LBs in the country. Both of these players have very good pro prospects. They are named to the Mackey and Bednarik watch lists respectivley. Mark Weisman returns and will hopefully make a great impact in Iowa's run heavy offense. The spotty QB play did not help him out much last year but he has potential to be a 1000 yard RB.

Some White reserves to look for are QB Cody Sokol, LT Ryan Ward, OL Drew Clark, LG Mitch Keppy RG Jordan Walsh, RT Nolan MacMillan, WLB Cole Fisher, DB Travis Perry, RE Riley McMinn, and LT Mike Hardy, RE Daumantas Venckus-Cucchiara

I thought there was a talented wr in Jacob Hillyer looking for some playing time here. I'll recheck this in a minute.

Wow, what a massive enclave of white players! Iowa hosts Wisconsin on November 2 in a very CF-friendly game.

Teams like Iowa always puzzled me back in my younger days of DWF fandom. How could a roster of two-star local whites always fare decently against "elite" teams of black players recruited from all over the country? It's one of those questions that just never quite answers itself in a satisfying way. Many DWFs probably forget it or choose to think about something else instead.

Ferentz is an interesting case. I will make a note to read more about him. As I recall, he was sort of Lloyd Carr's favorite/only choice as his successor at Michigan in 2008, but he didn't really have the pedigree for the job, so to speak. Rodriguez had the pedigree but not the approval, and three years later, Brady Hoke got the job with a much weaker resume than Ferentz. Hoke is a 'Michigan Man' in full-on black recruiting mode; I wonder if the team would look any different with Coach F calling the shots.

Iowa's best LB since Chad Greenway?

In-depth scouting report for Iowa linebacker/N.F.L. prospect
James Morris.

Got to watch most of the Iowa-Nebraska game today..
Iowa gets to 8-4 after beating the Huskers on the road. Lots of crowd shots featuring dazed, dopey & disappointed corn-cob crowned DWFs.

Hawkeye defense (with a lot of Whiteboys), was stingy, holding Nebraska under 90 yards rushing. M. Weisman was effective running. He ran over a couple Huskers on the way to the half yard line, and then went in untouched for his first TD the following play (2 TDs on the day.)

Iowa looked basically like a good, old school BIG 10 team today.
