The Rams brought in something like 14 wide receivers with NFL experience to camp last year. All were black except Danny Amendola and rookie Greg Salas. Every last one of the blacks is now gone except for perpetually injured Danario Alexander and Brandon Gibson, who is also a career bust.
According to Weenie World the two black receivers they drafted the other day are already being penciled in as the starters outside. That's good for Amendola, who will likely get a ton of catches as Sam Bradford's reliable outlet receiver, but likely not good for Bradford, who suffered last year from the carousel of crap at receiver and a lousy majority sumo o-line.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch believes that rookies Brian Quick and Chris Givens are the favorites to start at wide receiver for the Rams in 2012. Quick, a second-round pick, stands 6'4/220 and figures to work as the "X" receiver, or split end, so that he can use his size to beat press coverage. Givens, a fourth-rounder, would handle flanker duties. He has sub-4.4 speed and will provide Sam Bradford with a vertical threat. Danny Amendola is expected to handle slot work.
