Eagles waived S Jaiquawn Jarrett. Jarrett was widely viewed as a reach when the Eagles selected him with the 54th overall pick in last year's draft. Although he was billed as an athletic hard hitter, Jarrett's instincts never developed. Often left floundering in coverage, Jarrett also showed a penchant for taking bad angles and missing tackles. Though he was given plenty of opportunities to win a starting job, Jarrett had tumbled to third-team defense after a disastrous preseason opener a month ago.

As it now looks like Dennis Kelly may replace Todd Herremans (on IR) at tackle, and Foles is in for Vick this week, and Cooper will be the number three wide receiver, the upcoming game against the Redskins may feature the most white friendly Eagles offense in quite some time.

Ya blame the few white players you have left. The Eagles can go to hell, may they lose the rest of their games! I know for a fact Danny didn't fumble the ball 3 times, like former blue chip prospect Bryce Brown did. The real blame should be put on the teams 2 inept tackles who are slow as molasses.

Vick has been demoted behind Nick Foles. Foles played a very nice game last night against a desperate Dallas team after the media and DWFs were already howling for the Eagles to draft a QB when Foles didn't immediately set the world on fire in his first two games.

Riley Cooper obviously has the talent to be a starting outside receiver but I don't see the Eagles trading Maclin or Jackson, so he'll likely have to play out his rookie contract next year and see if he can get signed for starter's money somewhere for the '14 season, a longshot but not impossible.

Although the Eagles continue to claim Vick has yet to be medically cleared from his concussion, he'll be the No. 2 quarterback even once he's healthy. It means, barring injury to Foles, Vick has taken his last snap as an Eagle, and whatever remote shot he had at being back in Philadelphia in 2013 is now out the window. Vick's name will surely earn him many looks around the league in the offseason, but coming off a year where he posted a 79.2 QB rating, 6.9 YPA and 14:11 turnover to touchdown ratio, he won't be guaranteed a starting job in his age-33 season. Vick could still be an effective NFL quarterback, but has lost a step of his once legendary athleticism.

Here is a nice pro-Nick Foles article on Yahoo today. Considering that he is replacing caste-favorite QB Dog Killer, it really is refreshing. One comment in particular caught my eye:

Seeing this from a black wide receiver really tells you something. Jason Avant says pretty much the same thing later. A receiver wants the ball, and a QB that can deliver it. Pretty much tells you that the black solidarity has evaporated here.

Meanwhile a good safety prospect named Lane Olson went undrafted. Recently Olson was signed to a future contract by the Jets but they want to switch him to WR.

Given the track record of Jeff Lurie and Chip Kelly of preferring black quarterbacks, Nick Foles will be on an extremely short leash next season.

CSN Philly reports there are "strong indications" the Eagles will pursue Ravens practice squad QB Dennis Dixon after the Super Bowl. According to beat writer Geoff Mosher, "all signs point to" Chip Kelly pushing hard for one of his college quarterbacks. Mosher believes Dixon could be an Eagle "by next week." A Heisman trophy candidate before tearing his ACL his senior year at Oregon, Dixon has made just four career appearances in five NFL seasons, but knows Kelly's offense as well as anyone. It's extremely doubtful Dixon would be in play for the Eagles' starting job, but he'd have a good shot at a roster spot after spending 2012 on the practice squad.

This is probably good news for Foles. Signing Vick will ensure they can't ink anyone else and Vick will be hurt soon enough so Foles should get some more opportunity.

Re-signing Vick is just incompetence. Vick is a proven loser. Plus he's going to have an injury problem even worse than he's had before.

Tebow is available and he fits the new system perfectly. A smart coach would give Tebow a chance. Maybe Tebow doesn't work out but Vick definitely won't.

It's amazing how the DWFs support Vick, who is a callous, violent criminal. That shows how sick they are.

A few of the commenters after the article even recognize Colt as the best safety on the Eagles last season; the rest of the comments are from typical smirking DWFs. The article reads like some over the top satirical piece someone from CF would write ridiculing Caste-speak. The author even invokes Vince Papale.

Unsung Hero: A Tribute to Colt Anderson

t's very easy to get caught up in the hype of the more popular players on your favorite NFL team. The play-makers, the starters, the franchise QB, the long-tenured veterans, the leaders on and off the field, the guys who get the accolades, awards, popularity, fan recognition, fame, and big contracts. There's usually good reason to love these players and it's why their names and jerseys are so popular.

Yet there exists a different kind of player that isn't so well-recognized, but definitely deserves to be. This is the type of player I have a soft spot for. This is what's known as the unsung hero.

And there's no better unsung hero on the Eagles other than Safety and Special Teams Ace Colt Anderson.

Colt's not a player that all fans might appreciate. He doesn't score touchdowns. He's not a skill player. He's not some incredible physical specimen that dominates the game. Instead, he's just a hard-working player that busts his tail every time he's on the field. He does it without getting all those accolades or attention or big contracts. And that's exactly why he should be a player that everyone appreciates.

Anderson compares to a modern day Vince Papale. While he hasn't had a moment that's made him a franchise legend like Papale, he's made plenty of great plays on STs in his time here. Not only does PFF rank him as their top ST performer in the NFL (in terms of kickoff coverage), but he also finished the clear leader in Eagles ST points (excluding K Alex Henery).

The reckless abandon with which Anderson plays with amazes me. Here you have a guy who isn't making the big money that superstars make but still sacrifices his body and goes full out on every play. He's consistently one of the first players to get down field and make a tackle in both punt and kickoff coverage. Beyond ST play, Anderson even stepped up when injuries ravaged the Safety positions last year. He didn't light the field up like some superstar, but filled in adequately to the best of his ability and proved himself a viable back up option.

It's really a shame Colt hasn't made a Pro Bowl yet. He was on pace for a Pro Bowl year in 2011 before an ACL injury derailed his season. He honestly deserved a nod at the spot this year but was snubbed. There's no doubt in my mind Colt is the best ST player in the league and I can't wait until we get to see him do it again in 2013.

So here's to you, Colt. You may not get the love you deserve, but your hard effort certainly does not go unnoticed here.

he ran a 4.5, 36 inch vertical jump, is a shade under 5'10 and close to 200 pound, a 10 3 broad jump, 4.19 shuttle and 6.85 3 cone drill. How does that scream "just a hustler" dude is a great athlete and is more than capable of playing safety and not a career special teams guy. He gave up one td in the few games he started and now everyone says he is "garbage". One of the posters said he "isn't an NFL caliber player", which includes special teams.

Man the Big Sky conference should have a ton of players starting the NFL but they are marginalized and lucky to be backups or on practice squads. They have more NFL caliber players than a conference like the Sun Belt. Marc Mariani, Chase Reynolds, Colt Anderson, there were a few more that didn't get the opportunity but had the production and the measurables, yet when a black player shows some flashes he is drafted and given opportunities which was Taiwan Jones. I would love to see some of the top teams in the Big Sky play teams from the Sun Belt, Mac, Wac, Big East etc. Don't forget Jared Allen also played in the big sky, as well as Jeff Charleston, who would be an above average DE if he was kept around, and there is Kroy Bierman who has been jerked around. There is Matt Johnson who should get more time to develop, drafted in the 4th when he was better than Trumaine Johnson, also Big Sky, drafted in the 3rd. There was also Shann Schillinger who hasn't been treated fairly, drafted in the 6th, and Tim Toone, personally I didn't watch him so I don't know his talent level, those are just some of the guys off the top of my head, there are a few more linebackers but I can only remember Dane Fletcher, and some linemen, these are just the White guys, there have been a good number of black players given opportunities, kind of how like the NFL picks the only black guy on Boise St.

He and Riley Cooper should be starting next year. Cooper is another guy that has been completely screwed over, I think he could be better than Jordy Nelson if given the opportunity, instead they keep 2 smaller receivers, one who is afraid to run any route that involves going across the middle which limits the routes he can run, they can't run block and in Chip Kelly's offense you will need to run block as a wideout. Not to menion they seem to be injury prone. And who can could forget, the somehow lovable Jason Avant, who would be hated on if he were White, but Id rather not see Cooper in the slot.

in a way he is like Vince, but not like the author is implying, because if I remember correctly, the true story was that he had an uphill battle because he was White, at a time when they were phasing out Whites out of the league. I know it was the late 70's but by the time Chris Collinsworth came out in the early 80's he was considered the great White hope at receiver.

It'll be interesting to see if Anderson continues to start. Probably not, hard to have much confidence in Chip Kelly to this point, especially given the owner of the team.

Cooper should be an unrestricted free agent after this season, which will be his fourth. He probably needs Jackson and/or Maclin to get hurt again thus allowing him to play more, if he's to have much of a chance of being signed in 2014 by a team that will give him a fair chance to start. I think he's potentially as good as or better than Decker, but Cooper, Decker and Jordy are all basically the same package -- tall, strong and fast. Cooper will be a star if a team will invest in him.
