Giants sign WR Dan Depalma from practice squad. (He was one of the white guys fighting for that 6th WR position last year with the Jets.) I am going to go out on a limb and say that the success of Nelson, Decker and Welker had something to do with this. 10 years ago this guy would never have been given another chance.

I read a rumor today that Victor Cruise is going to be gone next year. (Not sure if he is a free agent or not.)

Sporting News draft follower updates his One Round Mock Draft; reminds us recent Super Bowl hero Chase Blackburn has no business starting in the N.F.L.

Russ Lande's a douche.

For those who didn't feel like clicking:

32.
New York Giants: Zach Brown, LB, North Carolina. The Giants were able to win the Super Bowl with Chase Blackburn starting at middle linebacker, but he is best suited to be a backup. Brown is an instinctive, super-competitive and explosive athlete who would be an ideal fit in the middle of the defense.

The usual code words make it quite clear what race this Zach Brown fellow is.

Looks like the Giants still don't know how to treat Chase Blackburn other than like a junkyard dog, even after he solidified their defense during the regular season and was a hero of their Super Bowl win.

The Giants have yet to contact free agent LB Chase Blackburn about returning in 2012. Close to a job teaching eighth-grade math, Blackburn came to the Giants' rescue in the Super Bowl run after being signed in late November. Although Blackburn hopes to re-sign, the Giants appear to be prioritizing Jonathan Goff instead.

[h=1]Giants re-sign MLB Chase Blackburn[/h]
The New York Giants have re-signed middle linebacker Chase Blackburn, a key to their run to last season's Super Bowl title. Also a special teams leader, Blackburn was out of football last year until late November, when the Giants brought him back following injuries to other linebackers. His steady play culminated in an interception of Tom Brady's pass in the 21-17 Super Bowl win.He was New York's second-leading tackler in the postseason with 25.

Blackburn joined the Giants as a rookie free agent in 2005 and has spent his entire career with the team.

Probably wanted him to be a fullback even though he is too small to play it. Hope a team will give him a shot at RB.

At least Brian Leonard, though wrongly miscast as a fullback, was a high draft pick and was "allowed" to have an NFL career and even carry the ball a few times (and he may get a lot of carries this season due to the brittle nature and lack of talent of Green-Ellis and Bernard Scott). I'll be surprised if Martinek, whose career at Rutgers paralleled Leonard's in the way he was used and misused, ever plays in a regular season NFL game.

I knew the die was cast when he wasn't even getting any garbage time hand offs or many swing passes in the flat. The competition for the 3rd tailback/tweener role was a rigged 3 card monte game that usually happens on the other side of the GWB.......:frown:

It looks like the vice squad did a raid on an apartment in the South Bronx and all money made on the 3 card monte game will be returned to the players.....:biggrin:http://www.giants101.com/2012/10/10...e-squad-terminate-contract-of-craig-marshall/
