Hall of Famer
The nickname Tar Heels is said to have come from descriptions of North Carolina Confederate troops during the War for Southern Independence. North Carolina produced more tar, pitch, and turpentine than any other state in the Union and it was said the Carolinians held their ground in battle as if their heels were stuck in tar.
The current version of the UNC football "Tar Heels" look more like a herd of tarred people, as they are an overwhelmingly black team. Since '05, they have started 9, 8, 5, 7, 4, 5 and 4 Whites. Their new black coach is making the team even darker than the darkest of caste tool Butch Davis' teams. Whites will likely fill just 3 of the 22 full time positions on this team in 2012.
White reserves include TE Sean Fitzpatrick, C/LG Peyton Jenest, RG David Collins, RT T.J. Leifheit, WLB Tommy Heffernan, RAMs Pete Mangum and Jeff Schoettmer
Offense
QB Bryn Renner
LT James Hurst
C Russell Bodine
