Here are the projected white starters for the 2012 NC St. Wolfpack. It appears only 5 white players are slated to start for NC St this season - a very disappointing departure from last year. Since '05, NC State has started 5, 7, 7, 8, 9 and 11 Whites.

Notable backup white players for NC St. are few and far between. The two that will probably make the biggest impact are DE McKay Frantz and DT Jacob Kahut. Their are several back up LBs - Ryan Cheek, Zach Gentry, Ryan Hart and Brandon McCain but they will probably turn out to be nothing more than WSTD's this season :icon_rolleyes:

Offense
QB- Mike Glennon
FB- Logan Winkles
LT- R.J. Mattes
C- Camden Wentz

Defense

FS- Brandan Bishop

Dangit! I though N.C. State was going to hang around the half White team list for a while. Looks like I was completely wrong. How horrible for this team to see such a dramatic shift away from Whites in just one season. :icon_confused:

celtic, that is good news! NC State could sure use more White defenders. I hope Tim gets a chance to start at SS at some point.

Colonel,

from the highlights i remember of Buckley, he has good closing speed and a nose for making the big play, especially on the ball in the air, but he wasn't a big hitter ... i wonder if he'd be a better fit playing centerfield back at free safety than in run support.

heck, everybody's "favorite" NFL cherry-picking overhyped-highlight-making safety Ed Reed has made a very-well-paid career out of hauling in up-for-grab heaves and delayed blitzes. Buckley would seem capable of becoming a similar player, given the non-caste opportunity that is.

JC, I haven't seen any of his highlights and I trust in your ability to analyze players, so you are probably right about Buckley. I was thinking more of the White Free Safety who is already there when I made my statement. I'd like to see both Bishop and Buckley starting in the defensive backfield instead of having two Whites at the same position.

ah, i see your point, Colonel. good call.

mayhap Bishop is tough enough to be an eforcer ... of course, we're just speculating because the Caste System has a nasty way of kicking our guys in the teeth and never giving them a fair opportunity.

Glad to see my Tim Buckley thread waay back on page #14 of the HS Football Forum was not in vain after all...

Was suprised he had to walk-on anywhere in the first place. Also looked good as a RB in HS...but we know that often qualifies him as a slot reciever or safety. Was thinking the same thing...NFL prospect Bishop may have helped open this door.

So true, JC. Maybe good things will happen to them both, but it is tough to be optimistic, especially since they are DBs.

True freshman wide receiver Charlie Hegedus is going to play this fall

http://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1396718&PT=4&PR=2

When Tom O'Brien announced that redshirt
sophomore receiver Bryan Underwood
underwent knee surgery and would be out indefinitely at NC State's media day, he
noted one pass catcher in particular that would have to help fill the void.

"I think Charlie Hegedus now
is going to have to step up," the coach said. "I think he had a very good
[second] scrimmage. He made a lot of improvement from his first to his second,
which is something you like to see."
