2012 NFL Week 4

Hartline now leads the league in receiving yards with 455. I'm very happy for him as he has been subjected to endless disrespect and hate ever since he was drafted. (I also have him on most of my fantasy teams as I predicted this would be his breakout season if he stayed healthy )

J. J. Watt has easily been the best defensive player in the league through the first quarter of 2012, a monster at end in a 3-4 defense, it's amazing what he's done -- 11 sacks in his last 6 games going back to Houston's two playoff games last year. Just imagine what he could do if he played in a 4-3.

Matt Ryan has been the best quarterback so far. He's taken the next step to be one of the elite at his position. Joe Flacco is close to joining him.

After a dismal Week One, things have picked up considerably. The big disappointment remains running back, but RB and CB are the two cornerstone positions of the Caste System.

Yes they are, and I'm very pleased to see it. I was hoping the boneheaded decision by wigger-Pete to start Wilson would blow up in his face, and were it not for the gift last Monday, the Blackhawks would be 1-3 right now.

There's a long history in this league, and there's a reason why 5'10 midgets do not make franchise QBs, never have and never will. Here's hoping it's all downhill from here, but also hoping that if/when Flynn gets his chance, he will have success. The Seattle passing game is crap right now, so I can't imagine how Flynn could possibly do any worse.

It's much better for Flynn that it plays out this way. If he had been the starter he would have had a very short leash and the DWFs, media and Wigger Pete would have been all over him for every mistake even though he is for all practical purposes a rookie himself when it comes to starting in the NFL, because of the "dynamic, charismatic, high upside" Wilson lurking in the background. When the Great Russell Wilson Experiment eventually fizzles Flynn will have a longer leash, which he needs. Seattle does have a good defense so Flynn is their only hope of becoming a strong all-around team.

I haven't watched Houston's defense that closely (which is embarrassing because I have them in fantasy football), but Watt's production from the DE position is unreal. Over the last 20 years, I can't think of too many DEs in the 3-4 that have racked up the sacks like he is doing. Next Sunday night should be fun to watch. Watt and Matthews. I think the defensive performances so far are very encouraging, and the receivers are looking up.

Rookie Blair Walsh of the Vikings also has a very strong and accurate leg.

I keep waiting for the arrival of large numbers of black kickers with "cannon legs" making easy money on special teams, but for some reason those overachieving Whiteys keep monopolizing the position.

Now that the Jets defense has been exposed as a major weakness, especially against the run, I wonder if the Jet's notoriously self-loathing DWFs will blame their current safeties? After all, they ran Jim Leonhard and Eric Smith (demoted as a backup) out in favor of "real athletes". So why the poor defensive play? Anyone? Bueller?

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Denver plays at NE this Sunday night and Houston plays at the Jets Monday night.

That subject came up Saturday night. Grambling was playing on one of the televisions in the sports bar, and we noticed that the kickoffs and punting were just awful. High school and college, black teams have HORRIBLE kicking and punting. Why is that? Has there ever been a black place kicker in the NFL? I can't name one, and my NFL memory goes back to the mid 70s. Very few punters, too. It's an interesting phenomenon. I'm sure it's been discussed here, but it's one of those things that everybody notices, but just takes as a given.

Okay, forgot about Donald Igwebuike.

Watch the highlight again and notice who all the bruvas are congratulating. The most ironic part is the guy they're celebrating with would have been guilty of giving up the TD if not for Harrison's jarring hit. Unbelievable--we see what color the black "athletes" on the Vikings are loyal to and it's definitely not purple.

I was talking about FG kickers, not punters. There have been at least two long-term black punters, Greg Coleman with the Vikings and Reggie Roby of the Dolphins.

I recall reading that Coleman was one of the most popular Vikings with the fans. This is interesting because the punter is the low man on the totem pole on a pro football team. DWFs usually pay little attention to their team's punter, but Coleman was a fan favorite.

Several years ago, I made a post about Gene Mingo, who was a place kicker in the 1960's, mostly for the AFL Denver Broncos. In 1969-70, he kicked for the Steelers. Mingo never was consistent.

The MSM and DWFs don't seem to care about the nonexistent black place kickers.

My question is why would Woodhead get 15 carries against a good defense like the Ravens?? Then get ZERO carries against a weaker Bills defense?? Woodhead could have put those numbers up that Bolden did yesterday...glad to see he at least had a TD catch!

Flynn sat behind JaMarcus Russell in college...and back then on message boards plenty of dwf's had a hard time believing Flynn would be a better pro one day! Wilson's stats are putrid...at this rate ole dilusional Petey will be watching the playoffs on TV come January....

You're right, although I believe Flynn should've been named the starter, in some strange way, this may actually be the best possible scenario. This comment from one of the Seattle message boards sums up the majority of the DWF sentiment at the moment. This after Carroll re-iterated his support for Wilson and said he's just on the verge of breaking thru on his way to becoming a great QB:

"Your blind support for Wilson's is making me sick. Wilson stats against the Rams are 17 for 25, 160 yard with no TD and 3 INTS resulting in a QB rating of 45.8. Yeah, he not far from being really, really successful. Are you STUPID or what?

The way I see it is Wilson is regressing game by game in front of our eyes. The only reasons we were in those games were thanks to the DEFENSE AND SPECIAL TEAM. It is not because of Wilson.

If you are going to give Wilson credit for the Seahawks having a chance to win those games then don't make excuses for his 3 INTS against the Rams.

Stop acting like a bimbo high school girl who is having a crush on the team's QB and start acting like a real couch. Put in the QB who will give us the best chance to win. Put in FLYNN!"
