Arch-bonehead Brandon Marshall was traded to the Bears for just two third round draft picks, an indication that the Dolphins were eager to get rid of him -- and maybe also to impress Peyton Manning, who they're going after in a big way.

So it looks like Brian Hartline's starting job is safe for now. As of the trading of Marshall he's their number one receiver, but I expect that to change through the draft, a trade, or by signing a free agent WR. If Manning goes to the Dolphins, Hartline could have a breakthrough year. He's got the ability but injuries and a weak passing game have prevented him from reaching his potential.

At this point, I think Miami would be the best landing place for Peyton. Obviously, it could make Brian Hartline's career and give him the opportunity he needs. Also, I'd like to see Dallas Clark come along too. Anthony Fasano is a fine player but not the receiving threat Clark can still be. On top of that, many teams are following NE's two tight end system and both guys could get ample snaps.

And Matt Jones was branded as "troubled" after a single arrest. What then, is Mr. Marshall and what kind of organization allows someone of his criminal nature to remain an employee? Most White Americans find their lives turned upside down from a single arrest.

According to the Palm Beach Post, "it's clear the (Dolphins) had grown tired" of Brandon Marshall's behavior prior to Tuesday's trade with the Bears. It was only a matter of time. Marshall was on his way out even before allegedly "slugging" a woman at a nightclub over the weekend. Not including the infamous "McDonald's wrapper" accident, the Chicago Tribune itemizes 17 incidents involving the police or the NFL commissioner's office since college. The Post confirms that Marshall "clashed" with Matt Moore in addition to throwing Chad Henne under the bus in 2010. Just as it was in Denver, Marshall's attitude was "a headache for the coaching staff, as well." At his current rate, Marshall's trade value will drop to a pair of fourth-rounders in 2013.

A team source tells NFL.com's Jeff Darlington David Garrard will get a chance to compete for the Dolphins' starting quarterback job so long as he's healthy. Garrard, who missed all of 2011 with back issues, declared himself 100 percent in late February, and estimated he was "90 to 95 percent toward being in football shape." He'll be a go for OTAs, but his back problems are chronic, so it's no guarantee he'll make it to Week 1 healthy. A competition between Garrard and Matt Moore would be close, but the facts that Moore made 12 starts in a Dolphins uniform and played effectively last season give him an edge. They'll also almost certainly be joined by a draft pick.

I've read a couple articles about how the Miami brass are hoping to excite the fans in Miami and help fill some of those empty seats at the stadium on Sundays. Looks like they still have a lot of work to do on that front.

Heck, when Tebow (as an opponent) played against Miami last year he alone probably increased their attendance by 25% or so. That's money in the bank.

I swear, 90% of the brass in the NFL must have rocks in their heads. Just unbelievable.

It's shocking that a loser like David Garrard is even in the mix for a starting gig these days. Even in the world of black quarterbacks it's ridiculous. He's been subpar his entire career. Matt Moore isn't great but should easily be the starter over Garrard. Weenieworld gets one thing right though. Looks like Tannehill will be starting soon, maybe by mid-season.

According to the Palm Beach Post, it's been "hard not to notice" how good rookie Ryan Tannehill has looked throwing the ball, "showing good velocity, accuracy and anticipation."

Tannehill has struggled a bit when rushed, but has still completed more than 40 of his 53 competitive snaps so far. "For a rookie quarterback, I think he's doing very well," said coach Joe Philbin. The Dolphins quarterback battle is too close to call, though the Post notes David Garrard has shown better velocity and accuracy than Matt Moore early in camp. The winner won't hold the job long before Tannehill is given a shot.

I swear that many people in the MSM failed to watch several A&M games last season. Tannehill is not some "mystery" that's going to blow-up the NFL. Quite the opposite, the book is already out on him. Last year, how many times did A&M's offense have a big 1st half, but a not-so-big 2nd half? Seems to me that teams' made halftime adjustments. Remember, Tannehill was still quite new to a number of college teams that were preparing for him and A&M. Nonetheless, he still threw 15 picks and had the tendency to throw a pick early in games.

The MSM continues to heavily push the angle that - "he already knows Mike Sherman's offensive concepts." Is this really as significant as the MSM suggests and is it supposed to be some kind of trump card? It's puzzling. Their plan is to get the tight ends involved more, and they'll almost certainly try to get Reggie Bush into space more. But, what about the (shorter) routes that break towards the sidelines? In college, Tannehill showed no anticipatory ability on those routes, didn't display a high feel for the QB position, and I didn't notice the above-average 'velocity' either. His decision-making was also highly questionable. Since his timing was so off, and he would often wait too long to throw that particular route, he should have simply threw the ball away. The DBs easily undercut those routes and picked him off several times.

All in all, I guess it's just easier to glowingly talk about rocket arms, super quick releases, velocity, and if all else fails, he'll run all over the NFL without getting battered - supposedly. :icon_confused:

The Dolphins had been promoting the washed-up David Garrard over superior talents Matt Moore and rookie Ryan Tannehill as their starting quarterback so far in training camp, but it looks like that plan has hit a snag:

David Garrard told FOX Sports' Jay Glazer that he will have his knee scoped on Saturday, and expects to miss 2-4 weeks. One source told Profootbaltalk.com that Garrard would be shelved "a while." Doctors informed Garrard of the 2-4 week timetable, though he may end up missing too much camp time to hold off Matt Moore or Ryan Tannehill for the Week 1 starting job. "Nothing happened, just Father Time, wear and tear," Garrard explained to Glazer. "They have to take out loose things floating around."

Per beat writer Ben Volin, Garrard would sometimes need QBs coach Zac Taylor to "call in the play two or three times," or have a teammate explain it to him, when the Dolphins went into their hurry-up offense. It's further proof Garrard's supposedly tightening grip on the No. 1 job before his injury was more smoke than fire. Matt Moore struggled in Friday's preseason debut, but No. 8 pick Ryan Tannehill impressed. Garrard's injury puts him behind the eight ball in the three-man race.

Chad Johnson was arrested on domestic violence charges Saturday night in Davie (FL).


According to the police report, Johnson allegedly head-butted his wife during an argument and caused lacerations to her forehead. Regardless on if he's convicted, the incident will be subject to the league's personal conduct policy, and could put Johnson's status with the Dolphins in jeopardy. Johnson has yet to be released on bail and remains in police custody.

Don, I saw that episode and I had an entirely different take on it. Ocho NoTeamo had a press conference where he uttered the F word numerous times. Philbin caught wind of it and decided to have a little ettiquete conference with Chad. During the meeting Philbin made it clear that TNB will not be tolerated this year. Chad understood that he was serious and was rendered into "you da boss sir" mode. HBO production caught this moment and filmed it with Philbin in the elevated position and Chad at the bottom throughout.

What I took from that episode is that Philbin is running a tight ship and affeletic behavior gets no play! In the case of Philbin he did not pander to 85.

Also, at the very end of the episode, Chad prophetised that he would be arrested for some unknown crime with some teammate. And it happened! Great TV.
