For what it's worth a 49ers beat writers is praising Kevin Jurovich. I've been reading other articlesthat also statethat he's Alex Smith's main target in the team's unofficial workouts. He was cut last year but maybe he'll begin a long racial apprenticeship this year that results in him receiving significant playing time before he turns 30.

Bee staff writer Matthew Barrows hosted a chat Friday about the 49ers, their recent workouts and the NFL lockout. Here are highlights:


B SIZZLE: Any chance of the Niners landing Nnamdi Asomugha?


BARROWS: Let's get this one out of the way early. Yes, I think there's a chance because there's a need at cornerback and because Asomugha already is settled in the Bay Area. But I don't foresee the 49ers getting in a bidding war with the likes of the Cowboys or Redskins or Eagles over him.


JDINSACTOWN: Will Colin Kaepernick be letting loose at Camp Alex Dos?


BARROWS: Si. That will be one of the things to look for next week. Kaepernick yielded to Smith and (David) Carr earlier this month not because "¦ because he wasn't familiar with the offense. It will be interesting to see how many reps he gets next week.


CHRIS NY: What is the most interesting non-Alex Smith-related storyline going on right now?

Hard to believe the Niners' Best D-Lineman Justin Smith is already entering his 10th NFL Season! Wonder what the plans for Travis LaBoy?? LB-Keaton Kristick has some nice upside! Hope Scott McKillop can bounce back from last year's ACL injury....

If he could only stay healthy....LT Joe Staley is one of the top LT's in the NFLbehind Thomas, Long, Gross, Whitworth, Roos...

Coaches are already looking for rookie Safety Colin Jones to be their "special teams ace"...he had some fantastic Pro Day Numbers! Would like to see him startsooner than later!The gritty(their term)Chris Maragos looks to land a roster spot.

Still can't believe Bruce Miller was drafted to play Fullback...

I would love to see Smith develop chemistry with both Long and Jurovich and really grasp that West Coast offense so that he can hold off the hype job Kaepernick. Who I believe was a great college QB but he is no where near ready to start. </div>

Another very dubious move by Jim Harbaugh. Culpepper, what a joke:

Free agent QB Daunte Culpepper will reportedly work out for the 49ers Monday. Coach Jim Harbaugh spent the offseason hyping Alex Smith, ostensibly because he saw a lot of himself in the embattled former No. 1 overall pick. It took just a few series in the preseason opener for Harbaugh to realize he might be better off with veteran competition for Smith. Culpepper hasn't played at a high level in half a decade.

We'll see how he treats the white WRs. I have a feeling that as far as white WRs and RBs he may be another Jim Caldwell, Tony Dungy, Leslie Frazier, Mike McCarthy, Bill Belichick or Eric Mangini type.

I have virtually no faith in him on being an equal opportunity hirer on defense and at QB though (probably not at OL either). He probably will be a typical coward "company prostitute" coach who believes in the NFL's lack of balance and unwritten quotas; too afraid to shake things up. AT VERY MOST you could see a 26 or 27 white man team at some point during his tenure unless the current system starts to break down.

One thing I'm watching out for is who the o-line backups will be. I think all of the likely ones to make the team are white. Perhaps the nucleus of a future white 49ers comeback?

The love story below is of course in addition to San Fran drafting a non-White QB to replace Alex Smith and fielding one of the blackest starting lineups in the league.

CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco expects the 49ers to pursue Bucs backup QB Josh Johnson this offseason. Johnson, set to hit the open market this winter, played for 49ers' HC Jim Harbaugh at the University of San Diego. Harbaugh called Johnson "the beloved son" during a radio interview last week. A three-year veteran, Johnson has completed 78-of-144 passes for 803 yards, four touchdowns and eight interceptions in parts of 19 career games, adding 197 yards on only 28 carries the ground.

I have to give Harbaugh some credit. Alex Smith is quietly having a great season. He's been screwed around with bad coaching and everyone labeling him a bust. However, Harbaugh should be careful about stoking up on back-up black quarterbacks, ala the Steelers. They might have to play sometime.

Morgan's season remains in doubt: 49ers coach John Harbugh said WR Josh Morgan will undergo surgery on his right lower leg just above the ankle after sustaining the injury in Week 5 against the Bucs. The 49ers have not yet decided whether Morgan, 26, will be placed on injured reserve, which would end his season. “It’s more serious than what we though after the ballgame,†Harbaugh said Monday. “He’s out an extended time, longer than we anticipated. We’ll have a better idea after today’s procedure is done. I just feel sick for him, and for our team. Josh was really playing well. He and all the receivers blocked really well (in Sunday’s 48-3 route of Tampa Bay.) Josh was really coming into his own and catching his stride. I feel bad for him, I feel bad for us. Tough loss for us.â€

Glad they beat the openly black supremacist Bucs. But I didn't realize how black this team is. Shame as Harbaugh was very fair to white athletes at Stanford.

49ers sign Brett Swain instead of one of the potential "big name" overrated black unemployed WR's. I believe John Matthews was also in the running, as Harbaugh mentioned a practice squad player as another WR option once Josh Morgan went down. Also, Adam Snyder has unseated Chilo Rachal at one of the guard spots, and I think Bruce Miller has taken over at fullback (for what thats worth anyway). Things looking a little whiter in 49er land.

I give Harbaugh a lot of credit for turning that team around. He basically inherited an afro-centric team from Mr. Affirmative Action Mike Singletary and with the same players as last year, they have become one of the top teams in the league. He also stuck with Alex Smith when everyone else had been calling for Smith's head, including the media and DWFs.

We need a few more seasons to see if he's another Bill Cowher type, or will the 49ers move in a better direction? I guess a lot of it depends on the GM as well. We've given his brother a hard time, but it must be interesting dealing with Ozzie Newsome at BAL when it comes to drafts and FA signings.

I recall a story that was mentioned a couple years back during a game regarding Jim Leonhard. Newsome wanted Leonhard to be cut, but Rex Ryan who was the DC at the time stuck up for him and wanted to keep him at all cost. Ryan finally won that battle and Leonhard has now become one of the better safeties in the league. I'm not a Rex Ryan fan, but gotta give him credit for that one. I wonder what would happen if more position coaches took a stand and stood up for deserving White DBs and WRs, among others, to make the roster during training camps. I guess they don't want to rock the boat or worse, risk losing their own job.

Sorry for getting a bit off-topic, but my point here is that sometimes GMs are just as guilty of a coal-black roster as racist coaches such as Tomlin, Morris, and Hatie Smith.

Indications are that Joe Hastings will be signed to give 49ers a second white WR. Even though its just a late season signing I find this an encouraging sign for the future, that Harbaugh might not be as anti-white as initially feared. Hopefully the anti-white trend that we saw under Singletary is bottoming out and we are seeing the beginning of a white comeback.

Joe Hastings signed today. A few intresting questions. When was the last time a team went from 0 white wide receivers to start the season to two?
Also, if Brett Swain starts tomorrow, who was the last white 49er to start at wide receiver for one game at least?

Dwight Clark may have been the last White starting WR on SF. Ed McCaffrey played one season with the 49ers but didn't start any games. They had a guy named Mark Harris who was tall and had Mike Hass-like hands but they rarely played him and he only had 13 catches in four seasons during the late '90s. There's been a number of other White receivers who are always kept on the fringes of the roster as many teams do, ala Kevin Jurovich the past couple of years. I hope Swain gets some action tomorrow as he has the talent to start.

The Niners had some interesting white skill position players from time to time but they never received any significant playing time. I remember the speedy Jared McGrath who was a running back out of Vanderbilt. I think he was only on the practice squad though. Jervey was on the team too though he only had 7 carries in two season.

Ahmad Brooks, a long-time huge bust at LB who was hyped by the media as a budding superstar when taken by the Bengals in the supplemental draft, is being paid like a superstar anyway. In a 6 year career, Brooks has tallied over 29 solo tackles just once, in 2011 when he soared to a paltry 35 tackles, to go along with 7 sacks. His reward for being a bust? Read this from Weenieworld, I am looking forward to the 49ers being a much more beatable team in 2012:

49ers re-signed OLB Ahmad Brooks to a six-year extension. The maximum value of Brooks' deal is reportedly $44.5 million, with $17.5 million guaranteed. Coming off a career year with 50 tackles, seven sacks, and three passes defensed as an every-down player on the NFL's second-best defense, Brooks would have been one of the premier 3-4 outside linebackers on the market. Turning 28 next month, Brooks' 1,123 snaps were fourth on Vic Fangio's defense. The 49ers paid a premium, but they're now set at linebacker with Brooks and Aldon Smith on the outside and Pro Bowlers Patrick Willis and Navorro Bowman on the inside.
