McClain wasn't charged with a felony which is ludicrous. I don't know a single white person who could hold a gun to someones head and be charged with a misdemeanor. I expect McClain to possibly get probation or have the charges dropped entirely. Nothing like being a black athlete in the US where you can commit crimes and still keep your career perfectly intact. BTW, isn't this the guy that ran a 5 second forty?

One report that I read stated that McClain was allowed to play because the Raiders did an "investigation." Here is that blurb from Weenieworld.

Per the report, the Raiders investigation has uncovered information that contradicts the allegations made against McClain and the team ''feels comfortable'' moving forward. McClain, 22, was arrested in connection with a shooting in his home state of Alabama. He has been charged with discharging a firearm within city limits, third degree assault, menacing, and reckless endangerment.

I wonder who this unknown source is because I really doubt he exists. Several days ago Hue Jackson was saying he was disturbed by the charges. In any case there is always a possibility that McClain could pay off the black victim and the victim will refuse to cooperate with authorities. Blacks will do anything for money and I'm willing to bet that's how they get off these serious charges in some cases.

Palmer has 13 picks in 7 games. Some of those picks against Green Bay were awful. There's no nice way to put it.

Yes, McFadden is out and Michael Bush is being exposed, and some receivers' are knicked-up, but Palmer doesn't look like the answer in Oakland. How does Oakland get throttled by Miami? In that game, Palmer padded his numbers in garbage time.

Raiders promote white DE Mason Brodine to active roster from practice squad. Today is shaping up as one of those "lets be nice to whitey on defense" kind of days, with Broncos bringing back Mccarthy, and Pats bringing back, yet again, Ross Ventrone.

This happens every year at the very end of the season, particularly with non-playoff teams, as they start placing guys with even very minor injuries on injured reserves and replacing them with practice squad players. Remember, a two or three week injury, at this point, is pretty much a season-ending injury for non-playoff teams.

Also, I believe "all" practice squad players become free agents at the end of the year. So, if the Raiders want to make sure they can keep Brodine from leaving soon, they can simply promote him prior to their last game. So I guess it is good news -- he gets to wear the uniform and play in a few games (if he's active) and it shows he's wanted going forward? But wanted for what reason, pre-season fodder (just to be jerked around) or for his potential as legit NFL player?

The speedy Matt Giordano is finally getting extensive playing time in 2011 after serving a seven year racial apprenticeship on four teams. He's a guy we've kept track of here for a long time and had basically given up on as far as ever being "allowed" to start. But he's starting now for the Raiders, due to injuries in the backfield of course, but hopefully will keep starting next season and beyond.

Like almost all White safties, Giordano's been a tackling machine, and has come up with 4 picks as well. On Sunday he had 10 tackles, an interception and a deflected pass, following 7 tackles the week before.

Giordano was the "White Special Teams Demon" who gained a ton of yards on the "electric" Devin Hester during Hester's kickoff return for a TD during the Super Bowl six years ago and nearly ran him down from behind. It's about time he's finally gotten a chance to start, at the age of 29.

What hasn't been discussed is the possibility that the Raiders' d-line "quit on Hue Long and Carson Palmer." I think this is plausible. Speaking in the context of pass-rushing, they have several big d-linemen that were causing problems for opponents' and then that ended sometime after Oakland's loss to Denver.

Of course, what is glaring is Miami's torching of Oakland and Philip Rivers' torching Oakland in Week 17. Oakland's secondary isn't great, but their d-line definitely became less disruptive and that was critical in them missing the postseason. Oakland had a fair opportunity to win a few more games and get the division title, but maybe some of them didn't like Hue Long "bringing in the White boy?" :crazy:

It's being portrayed as a power struggle.

Raiders fired coach Hue Jackson. We knew this was a realistic possibility once the Raiders brought in GM Reggie McKenzie, as Jackson was still fighting for more power with owner Mark Davis. Had Jackson made the playoffs and not ransacked the franchise's future for Carson Palmer, there's a good chance he'd still be in charge. Packers LBs coach Winston Moss and DBs coach Darren Perry have been mentioned as potential replacements. Fantasy-wise, the coaching change is bad news for Darren McFadden and the Oakland receivers, as Jackson maximized their talents with creative scheming and aggressive play-calling.

Travis Goethel is standing in as the Raiders' middle linebacker while Rolando McClain attends to legal woes.

Goethel, a favorite of Oakland's old coaching staff but also an injury waiting to happen, lined up on the inside at Thursday's OTA practice. McClain is in real danger of missing significant regular season action, so Goethel is a name for IDP leaguers to keep in mind. He could end up making multiple starts.
