It's just a shame Nash won't be in the playoffs, but "unexpectedly" becoming the NBA assist king (despite being snubbed to the 2011 All-Stars) is an amazing consolation prize itself. I don't think the Nash-critics will ever be silenced, but for them to say he's not a HOFer, even though he LED the NBA in assists 5-TIMES (to go with 2 MVP's), they don't know a D--N thing about being a great hardwood player.

What a great way to end the season...

DIRK NOWITZKI - 32 points (10-21 FG's, 11-12 FT's)
JJ Barea - 14 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists
Marco Belinelli - 14 points, (4-8 3pt's), 2 steals
GORDON HAYWARD - 34 points (12-17 FG's, 5-6 3pt's, 5-5 FT's)
CHASE BUDINGER - 35 points (12-21 FG's, 4-8 3pt's, 7-7 FT's)
Goran Dragic - 11 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists

I all excited for Hayward, and Budinger come next season (unless for the lockout).

The stage is now set, will Dallas win it all this time? That's up to them (Dirk's teammates especially), we can only provide so much support.

Don't forget about Ashton Kutcher, 19pts tonight in a CHI win vs the Nets.

NEW
YORK â€" Union chief Billy Hunter said Thursday "it's obvious the lockout
will happen tonight" after players and owners failed to reach a new
collective bargaining agreement, potentially putting the 2011-12 season
in jeopardy.

MARY ALTAFFER / ASSOCIATED PRESS </div>

<div ="photocaptionv2">
San Antonio Spurs' Matt Bonner, center, arrives at a midtown
hotel for a meeting Thursday, June 30, 2011 in New York. Negotiators for
owners and players are meeting Thursday, about 12 hours before the
expiration of the collective bargaining agreement and seemingly nowhere
close to a deal. </div>
</div>
</div>

Despite a
three-hour meeting Thursday and a final proposal from the players, the
sides could not close the enormous gap that remained in their positions.

"The gap is too great," Hunter said.

The CBA
expires at midnight, after which all league business is officially on
hold, starting with the free agency period that would have opened
Friday.

Commissioner
David Stern said "with some sadness" he would recommend later Thursday
to the labor relations committee that the first lockout since the
1998-99 season be imposed.

"Needless to say we're disappointed that this is where we find ourselves," Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver said.

Hunter said he hopes the two sides will meet again in the next two weeks.

The last
lockout reduced the 1998-99 season to just a 50-game schedule, the only
time the NBA missed games for a work stoppage. Hunter said it's too
early to be concerned about that.

"I hope it
doesn't come down to that. Obviously, the clock is now running with
regard to whether or not there will or will be a loss of games, and so
I'm hoping that over the next month or so that there will be sort of a
softening on their side and maybe we have to soften our position as
well."

The
players' association seems unlikely, at least for now, to follow the
NFLPA's model by decertifying and taking the battle into the court
system, instead choosing to continue negotiations. Hunter said last week
he felt owners believe the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St.
Louis, which is debating the legality of the NFL's lockout, will uphold
employers' rights to impose lockouts.

The NBA's
summer league in Las Vegas already has been canceled, preseason games in
Europe were never scheduled, and players might have to decide if they
want to risk playing in this summer's Olympic qualifying tournaments
without the NBA's help in securing insurance in case of injury.

Training camps usually open the last week of September and the regular season about a month later.

Whiteathlete33,

why is this good?
The league's best player is white. The league's top rebounder is white as is the reigning assist king. 4 of the top rookies next year will be white. This is good for the NHL but also good for the caste-friendly NFL.

Perhaps the NBA has to do more damage control on the huge fraud that they call "LeBron James.". lol

Yes, but whites have declined slowly over the past 20 years and especially American whites. There are plenty of teams that start 5 negroes like the Wizards. Dirk got his championship and now I'm satisfied. I can't stand watching overpayed, overhyped, black thugs playing ball.

Ok, I can see your point. If this helps improve the quality of basketball and gets more Dirks and Loves and Gasols to the league then that would be great. But, this might force some white overseas talent to rethink the idea that the NBA is great. They might stay there and we will get stuck with an NBA filled with overhyped affletes from the major college basketball factories. We might need to find good steams of Euro basketball games.

WOW.. Cav's traded their best big - J.J. Hickson - to Sacramento for (Israeli) Casspi and a future 1st round pick!

They must be putting all their eggs in Varejao returning strong from injury and lottery-pick Tristan Thompson.. which is just crazy in my estimation.

Even if Cleveland thought that they couldn't lock-up Hickson for the future, his prime years, "why make the deal now?" Perplexing.
