Duane Chambers only opened with a 6.72 yesterday, the winner Fearon PB'd 6.63.
So Pickering's 6.66 is there in the mix. I guess it's the next month's progression that counts.

Ditto Lemaitre's 6.67........ about 1.3 metres or so down on his PR but does that matter for the first competitive run of the season? We know he hates losing and comes back.

That time by Chambers is really slow. He is a guy who has a p.b. of 6.42 so he must not be eating his wheaties. Some how I think that will change very quickly. He knows how to cycle his ummmm......vitamins. Pickering would have run better yesterday but he fell asleep in the blocks again. His reaction time was horrible but he made up alot of ground.

Lemaitre was clearly fatigued. It even said so in a few articles. He didn't have his legs under him. They shouldn't have had him race so quickly after the two big trips. Remember that he also was sick for almost a month before the trip to Japan and Miami. He will be just fine. He hates to lose!

Yeah, hopefully this is a temporary thing with LeMaitre. He had only returned from Miami two days earlier, and before that Japan, so he could have been suffering from some serious jet lag. His times Saturday were actually slower than his slowest times last year. Appalling. I really don't think he did himself any favors during the offseason, but he's young, and hopefully he'll know what he's doing next winter. In the meanwhile, he was apparently pissed about his performance and said he felt like he'd forgotten how to run and wasn't moving forward. What a pointless setback this offseason was.

???? Lemaitre (.131) and Pickering (.133)had the BEST reaction times of all the runners in the race. So it wasn' their starts that were the problem (for once)

I was referring to the first race where he was almost the last person out of the blocks. His reaction time of 0.164 isn'tas bad as I thought it waswhen I watched the race.

Lithuania's Martynas Jurgilas, a student at Kansas State University, who clocked a 60m personal best of 6.65 in Lincoln, just three-hundredths away from the 18-year-old national record of Kastytis Klimas.

its a shame that Blum didn't run better. I really hope this kid gets back to where he was before the injury.

His PB is 6,01m. I think if Hooker does not achieve the record, he will do it.

Today in Dusserdorf we saw another win from Povh. Her teammate set a new p.b. as well as they went 1-3 again. If Ryemyen can ever start better, she might even beat Povh. She is always dreadfully slow out of the blocks but boy can sherun. Povh is the best indoor sprinter on the planet. She has not lostthis year! What a perfomance.Blazing! Again thewomen from the Ukraineareincredible. Whereare the male sprinters from there? Too many must go into other sports or enlist in the Army.

Call me crazy but I have a feeling Jared Connaughton is going to have a big year. Not on the Lemaitre level but big non the less. If I'm right, you heard it here first!

Here is the link for the results of the UK Indoor Trials. Craig Pickering and Andrew Robertson have made it through to the finals. Robertson ran a new p.b. Andy Turner looked great but I was bummed to see Jack Meridith not perform up to his level in his first senior trials. Laura Turner looks good as do alot of other athletes.

I don't like how they ran these UK Indoor Trials. Both the mens and the womens 60 meters sprinters had to run all three heats in the same day. That makes it really hard to have good times. Not to mention alot higher of a risk for injuries. Oh well. Craig finished in 3rd. An ok showing but his start hurt him in the final. He has always struggled a little running rounds as well. Overall it's a step in the right direction although he is still about a tenth slower than he was in 2007.

I checked the meets earlier this morning while I was at my girlfriend's, so I don't have all the links handy, but here's some stuff I remember:
1) No time for Gehret in the 200. He's listed as a DQ. Too bad he couldn't have squared off against Byram!
2) Chris Solinsky ran the best mile time in the world this year so far at the Oregon meet. It was his first run of the year, so that's pretty exciting for a "rustbuster." Some of you might remember his kickass sub 13 5K last year.
3) High school wunderkind Lukas Verzbicas came up three seconds short in his bid to break a nearly 50-year-old h.s. record in the 2-mile. He ran the third fastest h.s. time ever.
4) Someone asked about Boase. I would swear I saw his name in a 400--probably the meet in Seattle. Unless my memory is playing tricks, he did well.
5) Absolutely amazed that Hannah Cunliffe had the fastest time out of all the heats. Shouldn't she still be having slumber parties and such at her age? She is incredible.
6) Patrick Casey is getting after it! And I'm getting really excited about him. I know I throw a lot of names out there, but just to remind you guys, he's the fellow that somehow broke 4 minutes while running without rabbits or competition indoors at high altitude. Well, yesterday, still running indoors at altitude, and probably without competition (I haven't seen the race), he booked an 800 in the 1:47 range. That's a competitive indoor time for sea level. What do you guys think: Casey v. O'Hare for the indoor NCAA mile championship?
