ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Denver Broncos run-stuffer Ty Warren has a torn triceps that will sideline him indefinitely. Fellow defensive tackle Marcus Thomas has a strained pectoral muscle that's expected to keep him out at least until the regular season. Both were injured Monday.

The Broncos aren't giving up hope that Warren could play at some point this season.

Warren was the Broncos' biggest offseason addition, signing a two-year, $8 million deal after he was cut by the Patriots. His deal included a $2.5 million signing bonus and $1.5 million in 2011 salary.

Warren, 30, missed all of last season with a hip injury. Surgery might end his season and maybe even his career, so both he and the Broncos would rather put off an operation in hopes he can heal enough to play.

The Patriots' were smart..

Williams may miss season opener: The Denver Post reports Sunday that Broncos LB D.J. Williams, who dislocated his elbow in Saturday's preseason game, could be out for the next month. â€￾I’ll be all right,â€￾ he said. Williams has led the team in tackles in each of the last two seasons.
(Updated 08/28/2011)

This might thrust rookie Nate Irving into the starting role for Denver.

Yes, he's black and I feel that he was overdrafted. When he was selected in the Draft, his highlight video clearly showed his D-line occupying blockers very well, so, consequently, he was able to "run free" into opposing backfields - untouched - and stuff runners. In Denver, he likely won't get that luxury.

We shall see..

"Hands of stone" needs to be replaced with "hands of metal" when describing the perpetually injured Demaryius Thomas and his inability to catch the ball. But man, oh man, that upside. :icon_rolleyes:

Demaryius Thomas still has a plate and three screws in his left hand. The metal in Thomas' hand won't stop him from playing, but it's a reminder of how banged up this guy has been. He's had a torn Achilles and a fractured hand in addition to foot/ankle woes. At this point, Thomas is simply raw, impressive talent. He'll likely come off the bench behind Eddie Royal in two-wide sets initially.

Hopefully McCarthy is here to stay. He has been back and forth on the roster for a while. He has the talent to start. With all of the injuries to blacks at db/lack of talent teams don't have a choice with offenses going 3 to 5 wide. They are forced to play Whites at the position, and they usually do a great job when given the chance. It is a shame that O'Hanlon who came out the same year with similar measurables was last seen playing for the Omaha Nighthawks.

McCarthey will make plays. He will win one game this year, the kid is amazing. Can not wait to see him on the field. What about this Mohammed guy? Is he any good have not seen anything of him.

Mohamed is a hard-worker who will maximize his natural tools on the field. Will come into your franchise, understand your defensive system, provide some instant linebacker depth, and contribute on special teams. However, he lacks the power to be a true force in the box against the run and the speed and range to make plays on the outside or mirror explosive space players in man coverage. Probably just not enough physical tools to work with to become an NFL starter, but still a late-round prospect who will bring some impressive instincts and great character to a locker room.
Gotta love this write up. He's a "hard worker", he's "smart", and he'll make a great character guy who can contribute as a WSTD. BUT, he's small, weak, slow, and stiff, if you read with proper caste instinct. No way he could cover the myriad "explosive" (read: black) space players.

So I guess the broncos coal black defense wont be changing any time soon:thumbdown:

hey, look at the positive side: it can't get any blacker! (i guess McCarthy will never see the field, but other than that...)
