Cam Newton is 3rd in the dwf voting for NFC Pro Bowl QB, behind Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees. So, he's had a better season than Eli Manning, Tony Romo, Matthew Stafford, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler and Alex Smith - all of which have better passer ratings and more wins.

Panthers WLB Jordan Senn is playing well enough that coach Ron Rivera is considering him for a starting job in 2012.

Senn is severely undersized at 5'11" and 224 pounds, but he's coming off 14 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble in the Week 15 win over the Texans. "I think he's a very smart and talented young man," Rivera said. "And I think he has a lot of football savvy and he's a great athlete. ... If he continues to play like this it's going to be hard to justify not having him on the field."

Weenieworld's most reliably anti-White writer must be on duty tonight. Who knew that a linebacker making a phenomenal 10 tackles a game when finally getting an opportunity to start could have no redeeming qualities?

The Panthers have informed free agent LB Jordan Senn that he will not be back with the team in 2012. Injuries to Thomas Davis and Omar Gaither forced Senn into the starting lineup for seven games last season. He responded with 71 tackles and three fumbles forced, but was too often washed out against the run and struggles mightily in coverage. Senn should find a home in 2012, but only as a special teamer.

The Panthers were "really high" on TE Gary Barnidge's potential as a downfield threat before he broke his ankle in the second preseason game last summer.
We've been impressed with Barnidge's speed and receiving skills in what little playing time he's earned over the past four years. Beat writer Steve Reed suggests Barnidge's potential is a major reason why free agent Jeremy Shockey has not yet been re-signed in Carolina.

Former Panthers and Redskins RB Stephen Davis is suffering from short-term memory loss four years after retiring following a ten-year NFL career. "The coaches and doctors try to get you back on the field regardless of if you’re hurt or not hurt or have a concussion," Davis said. "It’s more about getting you back on the field than making sure you’re OK. If you could put your hand on your nose, you were good to go back in." Davis, now 38, requires a TV or other background noise to drown out "constant ringing" in his ears. He also suffers from "real bad" headaches and "hates" to be in the sunlight. Davis estimates he suffered two, three or four concussions "every other game."
