I like the Rangers' chances after going up two games to one, with Burnett pitching for the Yanks, or Crispy Creme going on short rest.

The Yankees are a little long in the tooth at several positions and lacking some pitching to get back to the World Series. But then again, the Rangers have got to shut them down tonight.

Is this correct? Giants with 7 White starters, 1 Black Latin starter and 1 Mestizo Latin starter. Phils with 3 White starters, 2 Black starters and 4 Mestizo Latin starters.

I looked at both teams' postseason rosters:

Giants:

15 white men(two white Hispanics in F. Sanchez and J. Lopez who pass the eye test to me)

1 Japanese-American: Travis Ishikawa-which is debatable since his father is of Japanese heritage and mother is white, which is similar to Lincecum's white father/Filipina mother mix)

9 brown/black Hispanics

Phillies:

13 white men

1 mix(mess?) in Shane Victorino

8 brown/black Hispanics

3 American blacks

So only three American blacks...I'm surprised the Joe Morgans and Gary Sheffields of the game are not protesting outside the stadium every day, with Bud Selig lending a helping hand.Edited by: Van_Slyke_CF

The Rangers have a ton of good young players.

The Yankees have too many stars that have passed their prime.

The Rangers came ready to play.

By my count, a Rangers-Giants World Series would involve only one American black player out of 50: the ancient Darren Oliver.

Bud Selig et al. wouldn't be happy about this. They are pulling for the Yankees and Phillies, and not just because of financial considerations.

Roy Halladay was something special yesterday-giving up only 2 runs in 6 innings with no stuff-for him-whatsoever.

Jayson Werth with a huge opposite field HR. Strange, though, that so many DWFs want to let him go via FA and get the unproven afflete, Dominic Brown, into the lineup.

I would be shocked if the Phillies can win the next two at home but we shall see.

What would I have said about how the Rangers season would go in 2010 had you told me the following things would occur?

* That controversy & distraction would erupt around Ron Washington and his usage of cocaine?

* That our #1 and #2 starters (Scott Feldman and Rich Harden) were so bad that they were out of the rotation by July and were pretty much afterthoughts after that? (not on the postseason roster)

* That our #1 catcher (Jarred Saltalamacchia) and back-up catcher (Taylor Teagarden) were so bad that they would both be demoted to the minor leagues on the same day in early May?

* That our closer (Frankie Francisco) would lose his job by the end of April because of the amount of blown saves he had?

* That our starting 1B (Chris Davis) would be hitting below .200 and get demoted to the minors in June?

That is 25% of the Rangers' starting lineup breaking camp not doing ANYTHING!

* Then, add in the fact the Rangers were bankrupt, had no funds & would be forced to go through a bizarro auction with Mark Cuban that would end around 1 A.M. with the Greenberg/Ryan group somehow outbidding Cubes?

If you told me all that I would say A) the season was a complete disaster and B) the Rangers finished last in the AL West.

This is truly amazing and I still haven't wrapped my head around all of this.

I'm glad the Rangers won. It should be an interesting World Series, especially if they play the Giants.

The Rangers need to keep Cliff Lee. They can't let the Yankees have him in FA.

Two majority-white lineups, loaded with white superstars and veterans will be terrific and fun to watch.

Indeed, he's grown to be a terrific five-tool player in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, it's his talent that's put himself out of the price range of the Phillies right now. And they have no one to blame for that but themselves.

Ryan Howard will be making $25MM. Brad Lidge and Raul Ibanez will be making $11.5MM, the latter in his age-39 season. Roy Halladay makes a deserved $20MM. The Phillies opened 2010 with a payroll in excess of $138MM. With some of the lengthy, poorly-structured contracts GM Ruben Amaro has given, they simply can't afford a player of Werth's caliber.

I just knew Howard was gonna strike out to end Game 6. It turned out to be a called strike, which is unforgiveable in that situation.

I checked out Howard's post-season stats and while they aren't quite as chokeworthy as those of say Barry Bonds, they're underwhelming in comparison to his regular season production -- just 7 homeruns in 178 plate appearances, and 0 RBIs in 37 at bats this year.

Excellent post Texasheat. I have been a devout Ranger fan since childhood and what a unexpectedly wonderful season this has been so far. I predict the Rangers in 6, can't wait for it to start.

The Giants won the first WS game, with Lincecum getting the win and Lee taking the loss. I didn't think either guy had his best stuff. I'm also wondering if Lee's back might not be bothering him again.

The Rangers lost the first ALCS game and stormed back to win the series in six.

I still think the Rangers have too much "big offense" for the Giants to overcome.

Guerrero was an utter and complete embarrassment in right field last night. While he may have been a good fielder in his prime, he's certainly waaaaaay past it now. He bobbled balls, was slow to others and took some terrible routes. It's not like he's been lighting the world on fire in the playoffs at the plate, either.

Ron Washington would be much better off starting David Murphy in the field alongside Hamilton and Cruz. Murphy hits left-handed, and is a pretty good fielder. Vlad's errors cos them a bunch of extra bases last night. He could very well have cost them runs in a close game, and I don't think this should be a very difficult decision.

Maybe Vlad's right after all, and Washington is blindly appeasing the Latino element in the clubhouse while keeping the hobbled Guerrero in the outfield. Either way, it's an embarrassment.
