I forgot to mention that DiGregario also ran a 6.65 and Stefan Schwabb ran a 6.73 in the heats. I just love to watch Christian Blum run. He is silky smooth and he just seems to glide effortlessly down the track. I expect a big summer from him!

There are two big meets tommorow in Sweden and Wed. in Germany. Then several more this weekend. Let's hope for some great results.

On the possible steroid front. Mark Lewis Francis ran a 6.59 last weekend. His fastest time since 2004! Explain to me how a guy who struggled to run in the 10.40's last year all of a sudden explodes back into possible sub 10 form. Really fishy to me. I just have to see what he is looking like. He has been fat since his junior days and really has done nothing as a senior. If he is looking ripped and just as big well then he isn't just eating mamas' plantains and ocra.....

I will have to get a current pic soon. MLF is racing another drug cheat Dwain Chambers this weekend. Also H.A.A. is even bigger this year. They were even commenting on a few British Track and Field Boards. What are these guys taking? Alot of them look like they are Ronnie Coleman(bodybuilder)want to be's. It's amazing they can run so fast when they are more muscular than your typical nfl fullback.

Christian Blum and Tobias Unger will be competing this weekend against C.Martina and Dwight Clark(Jamaica), among others. I'm expecting some fast times. Unger just got over a bad case of the flu for the last week and a half. I want to see Blum win this race to continue getting back to his form from last year indoors before the injury.

For those of you wondering about the meet today. Craig Pickering, Tobias Unger and Christian Blum all qualified for the final. Blum and Unger both ran a 6.71 time. Blum didn't race in the final. Pickering qualified for the final running a 6.63 and then ran a 6.64 in the final to finish a few spots back of first. I'm still not too worried about Craig though. He is not that far off of last seasons pace. He has not prepared for indoors and he is only running a few meets to help ease up the boredom of training burn out. Craig will be just fine. Remember that it is all about outdoors. The outdoor season is where the real money is made. That is why you never see guys like Bolt, Powell or Gay even competing. Plus the chance of injuries or burning out because of too lengthy of a season.

I am happy that Craigs Coach is taking a different appoach this year. They have to try something different to get better results. I'm anxious to see him run a few deuces in the coming months. His starts were alot better today than last weekend.

Bolt and Powell are lucky. They are training in sunny Jamaica, where there is no need for indoors. They both are running 400's now, which is much better training than running 60's. Sooner or later other sprinters will wise up to that and head to warm climates in the winter to run long sprints, just long distance runners have learned to train at altitude.

He started the race but stopped after he felt some sharp pains in his abdomen. He has been treated and he is fine now. I got this update.

"When Christian was probably delayed the end of last week, the pelvis and the sacrum," said his coach Ingo Seibert. „Christian wurde schon vor Ort deblockiert und am Sonntag von seinem Therapeuten behandelt. "Christian has been unfrozen and treated on the spot on Sunday from his therapist. Alles ist wieder völlig frei." Der nächste Start ist für das Meeting in Leipzig (13. Februar) geplant. Blum needs to be 100%. this kid has it in him to go sub 10, I know it. last year before the injury he was looking amazing and I really feel he would have run 10.1X outdoors had he not been hurt. I really feel for this kid, because once your hurt, its hard getting pass just the mental aspect of the injury.

This season is looking really good. we should grab a majority of the medals at the world indoor.

Some guys breaking through right now are: juan van deventer-white southarfican in the 1500m. he has a good shot at a medal.

Tsiamis from greece- triple jump.he is injury free and capable of gold.

Dima Dziatsuk from belarus-triple jump. he is a very young 24 yearold former javelin thrower and all around athlete who is focusing on the triple jump full time. he could medal this soon.

Petr Svoboda from czeck-60m hurdles. he should medal, has a good shot at gold.

Genya Borizov from russia-60m hurdles. today he ran an electronic 6.54 60m, he is getting ready to get the gold this year.

one of the top three so far in world long jump from ukraine should get a medal-kaznyetsov/kasyanov/markarchev. if bayer from germany is ready he will get the gold.

Ivan Ukhov will win the highjump and may get the world record. Since he showed up drunk for a meet last year he has quit drinking and is intent on breaking the indoor/outdoor records, which he is capable of doing.

Finally a young star in my event- Adam Ksczot from poland- is becoming the next great 800m runner> he has passed all the east africans his age(20) and may get a medal at the indoors.

Great news from all of these guys. I didn't know you ran the 800 meters. What a tough race! It takes so much discipline to excell in that event. I am anxious to see Genya Borizov run. What a blazing time. Keep the updates coming my friend. Thanks.

While Christian Blum failed to impress today, at least he is healthy. The injury last week scared me. Hopefully by the summer time, his body will get fine tuned and ready to run some faster times. The German Sprinters have so much depth though. Other than Blum and Unger, the two I like the best are Julian Reuss and Robert Herring. Reuss is only 21 and Herring 19 years of age. They both were impressive today. Two new personal bests for Reuss and a European Lead in the 200 meters. One new personal best for Herring. Congrats to these two fine young German Sprinters who have so much upside. There is no telling how fast they may run within the next 5-10 years.

Julian Reuss ran a 6.66 and a 20.95(Euro Lead) today.

Robert Herring ran a 20.96(p.b.) today.

Another result from today. Simone Collio opened up his season with a 2nd place finish in the 60 despite running the same time as Martina. They both ran a 6.62! Very solid beginning for Collio. Remember that he ran a 10.06 last season. Good luck to Simone in his next race. I can't wait to see Fabio Cerruti in action soon. Not sure when he opens up however. I'm thinking that his coach might be doing the same thing as Pickerings Coach in mostly saving him for the outdoor season.

Nice work for Collio. Wouldn't it be shocking if he beat LeMaitre below 10? It's just a matter of time now, though. I think LeMaitre will break 10 in his first outdoor race.

Also, this weekend, exciting times for our young US 800 meter runners. Andrew Wheating debuted with a bang, and Elijah Greer, and the Penn State runners were excellent as well.

Meanwhile, Spaniard Sergio Sanchez broke the Euro indoor record for the 3000.

1:47.13 to take fourth ahead of the Kenyan pair of Richard Kiplagat
(1:47.24) and Olympic 1500m silver medallist Asbel Kiprop who clocked
1:47.45 in his second-ever 800m race on the boards.

That's four Europeans ahead of any Kenyans!!!!!

Yuriy is on fire so far. I don't think he has lost a race yet this season. Sergio is one to watch in 2012. He along with Ryan Hall from the US and a few others.

Lemaitre ran a 20.83 today in France! That was after his blazing 6.55 time yesterday. This kid just continues to amaze me. What a performance!

Next weekend will be many countries national championships from France with Lemaitre to Germany. The great news is that for the second year in a row, Germany will be airing both days of the German Indoor Nat'l Champs. I will make sure I get a link for everyone here who wants to watch it live. I know I will be watching myself with interest. I'm hoping that Blum, Unger, Herring, Reuss and many of the other sprinters put on a show. Hopefully we will see some more personal bests. Mark it on your calendars.

If I can somehow find a live feed for the French Indoor Champs, I will let you know.

Italy always has a ton of good white sprinters at their national championships. Like half of a dozen under 6.7. At least 3 flirting with or under 6.6. Always great to see that many fast white people in a country with a much smaller population than ours. Just shows you what the USA could be capable of if we actually trained our white sprinters like Italy. I wish Italy would focus on the 200 more though, because I know there are some Meneas out there. Honestly Italy may not have many white sub 10s waiting to happen but I'd bet a lot of money they have many people who could run sub 20.

France and Germany should be fun too. I hate england. I'm waiting for some Scandinavians to leak over from the million other sports they play (and very well) to track. Unfortunately they don't have soccer as much to indicate sprinting talent. Just hockey and skiing.

The fact that that senior Farmer can run 46 and is doing track for the first year after playing soccer shows that you never know where that speed is hiding. I mean, to the naked eye it's impossible to tell 100/200 speed especially because quickness is really all that relates to any sports besides the 100/200 meter, haha. You never know.

I just wanted to give some props to Christian Olson who had the longest triple jump in the world today. He is back and healthy again. It is great to see him winning again!

Spain's Angel David Rodriguez just smoked a 6.60 60m. He's 28 and been running fast 60's for the past couple of years. Best 100 is 10.14, I think. All he needs is a little luck to go under 10 this year. Skinny guy. No chance of steroids, based on the pictures.

We haven't talked much about Ronalds Araj in the last couple of years. He is the Latvian teenager that moved to Texas in high school and now runs for UTEP. He ran a 6.72 60m at the Husker Invitational a couple of weeks ago and seems to be in good form. Last year he had a PB 10.27 in the 100m. We'll have to keep an eye on him this season.

sorry if this is all old news, I'm just catching up with track today.after watching the video of the 60m from Birmingham, all I can say is wow! The peds are just out of control! Francis looks like he is on D-bol, Carter has doubled in size from last year and Jelks is looking like he is hitting the flinstones. and dont even get me started on Aryeetey! Smith looked very good, I would love to see him break the 6.6 barrier. it would be great if he could have a big PR this year in the 100m. he only has a few more years left in him.now for my boy Pick, he look so f-ing bad on the start that it looked like he spaced out when the gun went off. he made up some good ground, but his start cost him the race. had he got the start the rest of the field, I think he would have won.

In addition to the French and German Champs, these countries also have there national champs this weekend. Spain, USA, Italy, Czech Rep, Poland and a few others. It will be a busy weekend in track but my eyes are on France and Germay mainly. Maybe Italy after that as far as the potential for fast times.
