Kansas City Chiefs:
QB: 2 white QBs: 1 white starter
The Chiefs start QB Matt Cassel, who did well for NE, filling in for an injured Tom Brady two years ago. He had great receivers in Wes Welker and Randy Moss though. For the most part Matt Cassel is a game manager, but he does add a little threat as a runner, due to his quick feet for a QB.
The other QB on the roster is Brodie Croyle who I don't know enough about to give a scouting report.
They cut Tyler Thigpen- who was a very solid dual threat QB, and are keeping their third QB- Tyler Palko- only on their practice squad.
RB: 0 white RBs (or FBs)
The Chiefs best tailback is Jamal Charles- who looks to be the real deal. He is a big play threat waiting to happen. They also brought in Thomas Jones, who despite rushing for almost 10,000 yards in his career already- really is a very average RB who sees the field in the league. His career YPC is identical to the estimated league average of 4 YPC and even behind the superb and acclaimed Jets o-line his production wasn't brilliant. White guys without jobs- like Jake Sharp, Luke Lipincott, Blake Smolen, Chad Kackert, Tre Smith, Tyler Roehl and Nate Kmic or Justin Beaver (not to be confused with Justin Bieber lol) would be better prospects than the Chiefs third and 4th string black scrub tailbacks.
WR/TE: 1 white WR, 2 white TEs: 0 white starters
In one of the most caste moves of the year, the Chiefs cut Lance Long. Long got lots of playing time- late last season- due to injuries and showed some explosiveness and potential (Long has eye opening measurables that scouts usually covet in young players, but he is the wrong colour to have the term "upside"Â used on him). The Chiefs are stuck with Chris Chambers and Dwayne Bowe as their starting WRs -who both regressed statistically last year (Bowe PARTIALLY due to injury. Chambers has elite workout numbers, but has been very inconsistent in his career. Bowe is a big bodied wideout who is still young and hopes to improve on his impressive 2nd year in the league before declining last year. He struggles with drops sometimes too. After watching film of Dexter McCluster, I think he could be the real deal and he ALREADY has returned a kick for a TD of over 90 yards (not bad for a guy who ran a 4.55 at this past NFL combine). McCluster's body type and short area quickness reminds me some of Wes Welker, but he has a LONG way to go to become the receiver Wes is. The Chiefs carry two young white TEs in Jake O'Connell and Brad Cottram, but nobody special Leonard Pope still is listed as the starter and it looks like this caste team has already chosen to immediately insert Tony Moeaki (who looked to be a solid NFL prospect while at Iowa) to 2nd on the depth chart. Jerheme Urban is the lone white WR on the roster, but he has been placed on IR for the season. Urban is a playmaker with blazing long speed, but is one of the very few white WRs in the league with average hands.
OL: 4 white OL: 3 white starters
The Chiefs start 3 white offensive lineman, but two of the three backups are black. I know little about these players, but the three white starters are center Rudy Niswanger, right guard Ryan Lilja and right OT Ryan O'Callaghan who are all under 30, the backup center is ultra- veteran Casey Wiegmann
DL: 0 white DL
Pathetically KC has ZERO whites out of 7 on the roster. I don't care to tout which afroletes are here by merit here either b/c it's getting tiresome.
LB: 3 white LBs: 1 white starter
Mike Vrabel is a consistent playmaker-who finally got some credit in his later years with NE, he starts at LOLB. The Chiefs also have very athletic OLB prospect Andy Studebaker from small school Wheaton college backing up Vrabel. Wheaton whips out a lot of white prospects. It is the school that talented and athletic CB Pete Ittersagen is from, but despite showing lockdown abilities in the NFL two pre-seasons in a row, he is without a job due to his taboo position. The Chiefs also have Corey Greenwood as a third team MLB.
DB: 1 white DB: 1 white starter
The Chiefs start Jon McGraw at SS. McGraw has been a very solid starting safety in the NFL when he's put on the field, but he is not spectacular. Solid black veteran starters- seem to continue to start for years, but I'm not sure about VERY solid white ones. We'll see what happens here. The Chiefs drafted Eric Berry who is already projected to start at FS. Berry is an intriguing prospect. Brandon Flowers was picked at the top of the 2nd round to play football's fastest position- two years ago- despite running only a 4.56 at the combine. From what I know- he's done a pretty good job so far as he's played both safety and CB- which shows even at CB ELITE track speed can be "like icing on a cake" as JC says (you can still have a good cake without icing). If you have all the other qualities- a 4.56 can be good enough.
Special Teams: Is it any surprise that the Chiefs kicker, punter and Long Snapper are all white?
The Chiefs have just 16 whites on their final roster. The Chiefs have just 6 white starters out of the 22 projected starters on offense and defense. The Chiefs do have one white projected to start at a caste position in SS Jon McGraw though.
