Another reason why following sports with so many non-white players is delusional. Miguel Cabrera the Tigers "MVP" showed up at the ball park on Sunday with scratch marks on his face. He wouldn't comment but after some digging the Detroit Free Press reported that he was investigated in a domestic dispute with his wife. (article link below).

Cabrera was out drinking with his buddies from the White Sox after Saturday's game (the White Sox, the team the Tigers had to beat to win the division) at 6:00am the day of a DAY GAME he came home drunk with a blood alcohol of .26!!!! double the legal limit and got into a scrap with his hispanic wife (rightly so). Tigers management picked him up at 8:00AM.

Cabrera has disappeared down the stretch when the Tigers have needed him most. And he responds by going out and getting sh*t faced drunk with the other team. Nice. This is why being a sports fan with chararcters like this is just stupid. Why invest any emotion in people who will get millions win or lose and don't give a crap anyway???

Jaxvid, I believe you mean Miguel Cabrera, first baseman for the Tigers. This is a pathetic story, and you're right on the mark with the fact that it sure doesn't seem like many athletes care whether or not their team wins or loses.

Cabrera's numbers have been quite impressive this year, but it sure is disappointing and upsetting when you see ballplayers that put themselves before their team and loyal fans.

A lot of outstanding performances by white players in '09, esp. in the AL. The best was Joe Mauer winning his third batting title with a sterling average of .364 (going into tomorrow's playoff game) and adding a lot more power this year to go with it.

Mark Teixeira won 2/3 of the Triple Crown, tying for the HR lead with 39 and leading in RBIs with 122. He was followed in RBIs by Jason Bay, Adam Lind, Evan Longoria and Aaron Hill. Lind and Hill both became big time stars this year. Bay, Hill, Lind and Longoria were all among the HR leaders in the AL.

Brian Roberts hit 56 doubles, a very high total, followed by Billy Butler with 51.
Jacob Ellsbury lead the AL in stolen bases with 70.

Todd Helton had a nice bounce back year for the Rockies, finishing fourth in batting in the NL. Ryan Braun, Chase Utley and Ryan Zimmerman finished 2-3-4 in runs scored. Braun led in hits with 203.

Mark Reynolds finished fourth in homers with 44. Adam Dunn continued his amazing consistency, finishing sixth with 38. Braun was fourth in RBIs, with Zimmerman also among the leaders.

As always, whites dominated the pitching statistics, along with a few hispanics and C.C. Sabathia.

The Rockies and Cardinals are playoff teams to root for in the NL. The Phils are noticeably less white this year but at least still have Utley, Werth, Hamels and Lee. Hopefully Lidge will come through for them after a bad regular season.

The Yankees played a lot more white players this season. The Twins are a white friendly team, and at least the Tigers moved quite a bit away from being Latin America's team after last year's fiasco. I'll be rooting for the Red Sox to win their third championship in 6 years. Edited by: Don Wassall

Trevor Hoffman had 37 saves out of 41 opportunities and a 1.83 ERA for the Brewers this season. He turns 42 next week. Milwaukee signed him to a one year deal to return next year.

Hoffman now has 591 career saves. For a while it looked like Lee Smith's 478 was going to be tough to top. Whatever numberTrevor finishes at may last a long, long time.

Anybody else jazzed up for the MLB playoffs? We get 3 great caste
match-ups right off the bat. Cards @ Bums, Rocks @ Phils and maybe the biggest caste match-up Sox @ Angelinos.

Don, Hoffman had a great year while the rest of the brewers pitching staff really struggled. Hopefully the Twins and Mauer can get past the Tigers, unless the game has already been played.

The Tigers and Twins are still going, playing in the 11th inning. I didn't turn it on until the 8th but this is a classic game.

Good game, a classic back and forth extra inning affair. I'm not disappointed the Twins won because I like their team but I hate to see a team lead for 6 months and then lose it like the Tigers did. The Tigers need to get some more ballplayers and dump their over rated hispanics.

I heard Mitch Williams of the MLB Network say not once but twice tonight that Jayson Werth "has the most power" of any player on the Phillies. Williams also works for the Phils and sees all their games. Considering that Ryan Howard is on the team, that's quite a compliment. Werth is a five tool player who didn't get the chance to play regularly until this year, when heturned 30. Edited by: Don Wassall

Hated to see the Cardinals lose game 1 to the Dodgers. My father in law is a big Cards fan and has gotten me somewhat interested in them this year.

Well, they really beat themselves. After about the 3rd inning, I lost track of how many RISP the Cardinals failed to capitalize on. Neither starter had great stuff tonight but the Cards offense looked as lethargic as they did to close out the season. The bullpen is also a bit worrisome. The portly Mexicutioner continues to look unfocused since Miller took away his role as LH specialist and McClellan was his usual shaky self while inheriting base runners. He is a completely different pitcher coming in with the bases empty as opposed to inheriting runners. I am really surprised that Tony didn't use Smoltzy in the 5th or 6th, since he specifically stated he would be available. Sure, you want to stay with your ace, but Tony is known for his unorthodox moves at times. Carpy just didn't have it and the Cardinals needed a boost. To Carps credit he battled, but there was almost a sense when that 5th inning rolled around that he was about at the end of his ability to be creative with poor stuff. I know I was dreading him coming back for the 5th. Those two runs surrendered in the 5th and 6th were daggers in more ways than one. The only way I can describe them from personal experience is that when you are scuffling in a big game like the Cardinals were, you are just looking for one little thing to give a shot of momentum. Then you turn around and lose more momentum and it is like a kick in the gut.

I am still not completely biting nails yet. Waino and Carp are both competitors. Waino will definitely be fired up to pick up his buddy Carp on Thursday. I am willing to bet he will be on for that game, and if that is the case, I will take the Cards up against the Dodgers any time. If they can make it back to STL with a win, I feel good. Pineiro is a much better pitcher at Busch than away. Then the Cards can get back to Carp who will not allow himself to have two poor back to back post season starts.

Carpenter really had bad stuff. He was hit hard by the Dodgers and should have been pulled a lot earlier IMHO. But LaRussa knows what he's doing and there is a lot more baseball to be played. One win at home for the Dodgers means nothing. I still like the Cards.

Their pitching was bad, and I haven't seen someone hit with a ball like that in a while. The Cards should rebound from it though. We'll see what happens. Game 2 starts at 4:07 Mountain Time.

The Cardinals are pretty much finished. You can see it in their faces. The four big keys to the post season have not produced with the exception Wainwright. (1)Carpenter - didn't have it in game one, (2)Wainwright did his job in game two, (3)Holliday has struggled which allows teams not to worry about Pujols, and (4)Franklin has continued his meltdown since september the 5th. At this point the Cards will be lucky if they don't get put away in three. Franklin might not even pitch again in the series after that performance, and in all reality even if they were to manage to squeak out the series, if you lose your closer with an already shaky pen, it is over.

in game one the dodgers left more men on base than the cardinals, so i wouldn't say that the cardinals beat themselves.

The Cardinals absolutely beat themselves both games. The Dodgers did nothing to really take command in either game. The Dodgers had the bases loaded three times in the first game and the Cardinals managed to prevent the Dodgers from busting the game wide open all three times. By the time the 5th rolled around Carpenter just didn't have enough in the tank to keep being creative and Tony left him in too long which visibly killed any chance of momentum that the Cardinals were trying to achieve. The same as last night. Tony went with the struggling Ryan Franklin who has not pitched well since September 5th and left him in too long. After the Holliday error, Franklin went into his usual meltdown mode as of late and Tony left him in too long when it was clear he didn't have it. Despite the Holliday error, Franklin had them down to the last strike and then gave up two consecutive runs. I am not trying to slight the Dodgers and say that haven't done what they have had to do to win, they have. They haven't done much, but it is more than what the Cardinals have shown so far, and they have flat out played them. The main problem for the Cardinals however, is bad play, not the Dodgers just commandingly taking the series. The one thing that the Dodgers have done far better than St Louis in this series is in the managing department. Joe Torre has flat out managed Tony Larussa so far. Joe Torre looks like a manager trying to pull out the stops to win in the post season, while Tony looks like he is managing like the Cardinals are still stumbling down the stretch.

Baseball sucks!!!! Twins, Cards, and Red Sox out!!!! What a disappointment. All that's left is the Phillies, and that's not much.

Or the Rockies who I hope will win the next two games to advance. But I will be stuck with rooting for the Phillies if indeed they close out the Rockies tonight or in game 5.

It is better than football though at least in the caste perspective.
4 of the last 5 World Series winners have been white friendly to very white friendly clubs as have 2 out of last 5 World series losers, with the 2004 Cardinals being borderline with the addition of Larry Walker.

After 2 beatings in a row in past years at the hands of the Red Sox, the Angels were bound to win sooner or later, especially with rumors that their manager might be on the hot seat if it happened again. The Cardinals flat out beat themselves in their series. The Rox still have a slim chance though. Much better than the NFL in my book, where our players are actively discriminated against and White friendly means 12 or so players with the rest being black.

I'm very excited for a possible Phillies/Yankees World Series. What has been missing from this postseason? DRAMA! Chills running down one's spine! I think a Yanks/Phils match-up could have some drama.

It could also provide higher World Series ratings (not that I would really care if another World Series' bombed in the ratings). The second best match-up would be Joe Torre's Dodgers' facing his old team, the Yanks! Bring it on!

I,m I they only one that thinks AholeRod is using an altered bat in the playoffs? All of his homeruns in the playoffs look like mis-hits that somehow floated out. It reminds me a lot of when some softball player has the latest juiced bat or illegal bat. Not that AholeRod or any Yankee would ever cheat.

I lost all interest in the playoffs after the four teams I wanted to win all lost in the first round. Now I guess I'll root for the Phillies by default. . . actually I'm hoping for the World Series to drag on until Thanksgiving with lots of rainouts and snow storms ruining everything.

I am kind of with you on that Don. When the Cardinals and Red Sox lost that pretty much took most of the interest out of the playoffs for me. I have never really been an American league kind of guy, but I have come to enjoy the Red Sox over the last few years. I wanted the Cards to face the Sox in the series, but I would have also been at least somewhat happy to see the scrappy underdog Rockies play. I have no interest at all in the Angels, Dodgers or the Yankees. It wouldn't even matter how many Whites these teams had, the teams are still LA and NY. Right now it looks like it is almost assured to be the Yankees and Phillies, so I will be pulling for the Phillies simply because they are not NY and LA and the fact that I like Chase Utley.
