Representing the National League...The Philadelphia Phillies! The hated Dodgers have been vanquished and the team that no one likes is going to the Fall Classic. NLCS MVP goes to Cole Hamels. His postseason numbers? 3-0, 2ER, 22K. White pitcher dominates the Caste-worshiping Dodgers.

I'm not going to bet the farm on a Boston comeback. All I can hope is that Philadelphia gets a shot at the CasteRays. Nothing would peeve the media more than a mostly white Philadelphia team bringing it home.

The Red Sox were down 0-3 to the Yankees in '04 and came back to win. It ain't over till it's over.

Congrats to the Phils! As a Yankees fan I had a soft spot for Joe Torre but it was almost impossible to root for that caste club.

While I respect the Red Sox and their white team (and wish the Yankees would return to the whiter dynasty years of the late 90's) I cannot stand seeing Boston win. Their drunk fans are obnoxious and Big Papi is still a jerk.

The Rays are pretty caste but I love watching Kazmir, Longoria and Shields. Also, going from the worst team last year to the W.S. would be pretty crazy.

Another excellent start tonight by Cole Hamels. And Brad Lidge is now 47 for 47 on the season in save opportunities.

Hamels was absolutely electric, giving the Phils a much-needed Game one win. Against the right-hander Shields, Pedro Feliz will probably be replaced by lefty (white) Greg Dobbs, and Matt Stairs will presumably DH. That'll make only three nonwhites in a World Series lineup.

The lines for a few selected Phillies from last night, by the way:

Jimmy Rollins: 0-5, 2K, 5 men left on base.
Ryan Howard: 0-4, 3K, 4 men left on base.

The Rays actually pitched around Chase Utley to get to Ryan Howard. And Howard layed down for them. Completely.

Great start but now they must not totally fold like the Red Sox did. I hope they crush Garza when he pitches. He is the one that said the Phillies hitters would be a good break, talking about how their lineup was not as good throughout as the Red Sox were. He also mentioned the two main hitter as Howard and Rollins. Well, how did you like Mr. Utley last night, Garza?

I live in Florida but I cannot pull for the Hispanics national team, the Rays.

The Rays actually pitched around Chase Utley to get to Ryan Howard. And Howard layed down for them. Completely.

Nothing new there. In 47 postseason at bats, Howard currently has a .234 average with 1 HR and 4 RBIs to go along with 17 strikeouts.


His weight was listed during the broadcast as 256 pounds. He's not as fat as Fielder and some of the other black power hitters, but I'll be surprised if he doesn't start tailing off during the regular season soon. He was on the way to avery bad2008 before getting hot the last part of it. With no running ability and not a good fielder, once his weight slows down his ability to hit homeruns he'll be nothing more than a strikeout machine.

I hope 45 year old Jamie Moyer pitches well in Game Three. He had a great regular season and he is one of those crafty lefthanders that I like to see pitch. Because of his lack of velocity, his margin of error is slimmer than power pitchers but much like Greg Maddoux, Moyer has carved out a nice career for himself. Maddoux of course is a future Hall of Famer.

Greg Maddux's 2-seamer is still maybe one of the nastiest pitches in all of baseball. To a lefy, it starts at your hip and breaks into the strikezone. AJ Burnett's is even better, at like 95mph...

I have seen that clip a couple of times before. I think his anger is used much more productively these days and he has put the hammer on certain politicians and entertainers that need it. But anyways, enough of this brief diversion. I think Jamie Moyer will give the Phillies six productive innings tonight and the Phillies bats will wake up in that loud zoo it's going to be in Philly tonight. I would love to see the Phillies somehow win this series with Howard and Rollins continuing their slump at the plate. It's probably not possible for the Phillies to win this series without their bats waking up, but I would like to see it.

O'Reilly has a thuggish mentality, butyes let's get back on track. Moyer is amazing. The first ten years of his career defined the term journeyman. To think that he now has 246 career wins and is still a very good pitcher atnearly 46is one of the all-time best stories in baseball. He is almost old enough to have pitched for the Phillies when they won their only World Series title in 1980.

I really enjoyed Jamie Moyer's performance last night, and it was a good-albeit lengthy-game to watch.

The fact that Moyer could pretty much master the Rays' lineup for 6 innings with nothing more than an 82 mph fastball and precise control shows just how much of an "art form" good pitching really is. Congrats to Jamie Moyer.

Moyer pitched an absolute gem, one for the ages at 45 years young. He was far to emotional before the game to let this opportunity slip from his hands, and I knew he was going to come through for his hometown team.

The Phillies are up 3-1 and can end it tonight. I can recall when the World Series was played in the afternoon and started the first week of October. The Series was the most talked about event in the America in those days. In fact, during election years, it was said that the campaign did not really begin until the World Series ended. This idea was especially hallowed among Democratic politicians according to Theodore H. White.

Sport historian. I remember those days, or at least the early seventies, when the WS ended by Oct. 15th. I wish we could return to those days. It's just too cold and too dark now.


We should definitely enact the reforms that will ensure the end of the regular season by Sept. 25th, and the beginning of the WS by October 10th.
