Baseball America has listed the top 100 high school and college prospects for 2006 Draft. Brief review of fast top prospects. Fastest player in draft is black--Derrick Robinson and he might play football at Florida or play baseball. Same with another black speedster Brent Brewer who is contemplating the same--haven't checked his school.
In High school there are several speedsters:
Riley Cooper--he has been discussed. Either will play safety at Florida, not WR as reported or play baseball at Florida. Says he will try both but he is compared to Jeff Francouer so the football will surely slide by the wayside.
Toby Gerhart-big time hs RBmight try both sports at Stanford. Unlike Riley this kid might stick to football but is listed as an OF or Catcher if baseball is chosen.
Jeff Rapoport- Another football star but almost sure he will stick with baseball--Stanford I think at CF. Very quick.
Clint Stubbs-Yonger brother of Drew at Texas where he is signed to play.
College:
Shane Robinson- Florida State lead off hitter has been described as a water bug. Racks up a lot of SB's and can hit for average.
Mike McBryde-Florida International--Is a two way player and might end up a pitcher like Red Sox farmhand Clay Bucholz another speedy two way player. McBryde runs 60 yard dash in 6.4 seconds.
Jeff Samardzija--ND WR not listed amoung speedsters but could choose baseball over football. Is a Pitcher. Who knows? Will be drafted high in both sports.
Drew Stubbs--CF for Texas. Might be most talented athlete in all of college sports. The one thing he needs to sure up is hitting for contact. If he masters that look out. Was a HS sprinter-(100M)-think a stronger version ofJeremy Wariner and was a WR star too. Very rangy--6' 4" and covers 60 yards in 6.31 seconds. Might be the best white college athlete since Kirk Gibson. Might be the most important young caste athlete out there at the moment because he represents blinding speed and phenomenal athleticism.
