This is the whitest team Indiana has had in many years. Look at that defense. Turn back the clock!

IU has preferred to ignore the many talented white high school players who grow up on farms and in small towns in favor of blacks from each and every city they can send recruiters to. This state doesn't utilize its white high school talent nearly as well as Ohio and Nebraska but then almost no other states do either. We did have Alex Smith as our tailback in the mid 1990s He set national records as a freshman with his blinding speed but the NFL pretended he didnt exist.

the Hoosiers played four white DBs a whole lot in their upset win over Iowa on Saturday. usually they had at least 3 on the field at once, and they may have had all four out there in nickel situations but i'm not sure.

seniors Will Meyers and Troy Grosfield start at the two safety spots, while sophomore Joe Kleinsmith and freshman Austin Thomas play a bunch as well.

Kleinsmith was actually the IU kicker part of the year last season, and now plays both safety and corner.
