Scott Mayle and Arturu Abolins in the long jump. There
are others that I can't think of right now.Don't forget
ASU and Nebraska are 2 of the favorites in the 4 x 100
Relays.

Steve Mullings the SEC 100 champ has been suspended by the Jamaican amateur athletic association for having a little too much testosterone in his system. He has subsequently withdrawn from the NCAA's. Too bad.

Tommorow are the opening heats for the 100,200,and the
4 x 100 Team Relays.On a interesting note,the 2 white
sprinters in the 100 are in the same heat together.Gee,
I wonder if that was on purpose but it's cool I guess.
Stamer will be looking over his shoulder and for a
change see a friendly face.Koehnemann of ASU just needs
to run his race.I don't think Stamer or Koehnemann will
have any problem getting out of the first round. All they
have to do is run around the 10.4 range and they should
be safe.Same with the relays,Nebraska & ASU should
advance even if they jog it.lol.I really want to see
Stamer put together the perfect race in the next few
days!

To be honest with you,I'll that I'm hoping for is to see some of our guys reach the final in their events and get their All-American certificates.Stamer in the 100,Probasco in the 200 and Peterson in the 400, in fact it's quite possible that Peterson could get a top 3 finish and that would be awesome. It would also be really cool if Nebraska could finish in the top 3 in the 4x100 and that basically is all I'm looking at.

Bad news guys.Today was the pre lims and the semi finals
for the 100 meters.Stamer didn't even get out of the
first round running a pathetis 10.63.Steve Koehnemann
got to the semifinal with a 10.45 in the first round
but then didn't qualify for the finals on Friday.Very
bad performances today by both of these guys.To make
things worse,Nebraska didn't even get out of the pre-
lims for the 4 x 100 Relays either.What happened?At
lease ASU did and they should be one of the favorites.
I'm scratching my head wondering how they were so flat
today.More results to come soon.

To add to the pain,Domenik Peterson didn't make the
cut at the 400 meters.Dirk Homegood of Iowa St. did
and so did Matt Scherrer.Nate Probasco ran a excellent
200 and is on to the semi finals running a 20.53!Good
job to all of these guys. From what I heard,Peterson
false started but that doesn't make much sense in a
400 meters race.Anyone heard anything on this?

Trey Hardee, Donovan Kilmartin and Andrew Levin are doing well in the decathalon. Like you WL, I thought it weird to see a false start in the 400.

The one positve coming out of this,as far as the men's sprints go,in the 4x400 relay five of the eight schools in the final have at least one white guy,led by Northern Iowa who have three.

Jesse Williams of USC won the high jump with 7'6". I saw his USC bio and it had him listed at 6' and 155 lbs.
A white-American Stefan Holm?

Those relay teams with Peterson and Scherer were running 3 black, 1 white, am I right?

Do you have the times for the individual legs?

We shouldn't blame the white guys for their teams coming in second and third. After all, they're running with black men, too, aren't they?

Maybe the black guys were the slow ones on those relay teams.

Disappointing for the running events for sure, but the jumpers had a good showing winning the high jump and going 1-2 in the long jump. Looking forward to the World Championships.
