Skip Bayless, while discussing why he thinks RB Jim Brown's
competition was inferior, stated that Brown's era was not as
competitive as it is in the later eras. Mark Cannizzaro rebutted that,
essentially, the old guys weren't all that bad. Bayless went on to
explain how the racial structure has changed since Jim Brown played
the game when there "was a mixture of black and white guys".
He ended the segment by saying, and I Quote "maybe too many
white guys."

I'm writing in to ESPN and try to get this chucklehead fired. I hope

I am writing this letter to express my extreme displeasure with the
comments made by Mr. Bayless on the show 1st and 10. During the
last segment while debating the NFL's best player ever, Skip stated
that he didn't "trust" the competition in Jim Brown's era. For some
reason he felt that Brown's competitors were inferior in some way.
Mr. Bayless went on to clarify by adding that there was a mixture of
black and white guys, maybe too many white guys."

Those white men earned their positions in the NFL. Blacks have had
the opportunity to play professional football since its inception in
1920 (that's 16 years before Jim Brown was born). Mr. Bayless clearly
feels that black athletes are superior to white athletes. This view is
not just ridiculous, but racist as well. I will be boycotting the
products advertised on ESPN and encouraging all others to do the
same until Mr. Bayless is removed from his duties on ESPN.

On your 1st and 10 program, Skip Bayless asserted that the level of competition in RB Jim Brown's era was inferior because there were 'too many white guys.'

Bayless' comments were insensitive to the say least. They are an insult to all white players, past, present and future. I doubt that any similar comment about black athletes would be allowed to stand without apology by the offending party.

I expect nothing less than a retraction and on-air apology from Mr. Bayless.

Why is it that ESPN is so careful to be "sensitive" to every conceivable ethnic and racial group except whites? Grow up; let's see a level playing field when it comes to race. Tell Skippy and his "white" friends that white bashing is no longer acceptable

Several years ago, I was reading something by Joseph Sobran, whom I suppose is a favorite of some on this Forum. Sobran wrote something like, "Wilt Chamberlain scored so many points because he played against a lot of white centers." A good many people on the Right would agree with Bayless that blacks are "better athletes" than whites.

On the other hand, someone should ask Bayless why so many passes are dropped in today's supposedly "superior game." Or, why does a "more athletic" DB catch and fumble a pass he should have batted down, knocking his team out of the playoffs.

Our favorite Skip Bayless story involves former Dallas Cowboys
quarterback Troy Aikman. In his 1996 book "Hell-Bent," Bayless
groundlessly speculates that Aikman might be gay. ( We hate it when
people do this .) Aikman, as rumor has it, went straight to his
attorney to find out how much it would cost to beat the crap out of
Bayless. Oh, what might have been. But Bayless knows this drill; he's
perfected the whack-a-mole art of becoming a moving target.
Dallas, Miami, Chicago, San Jose (?), he never stays in one place long
enough for someone to pin him down and administer the thrashing
he deserves. And now he's hidden in the matrix of ESPN.com, more
elusive, and sensationalistic, than ever. It's sad, really. But what can
one expect from a writer whose heart is three sizes too small?

I have always disliked Skip Bayless. He was the sports columnist for several years for either the Dallas Morning News and/or the Times Herald( I forget). When he started those despicable Aikman rumors, he had about a third of the town believing that garbage. He was also on board with medicine-ball-wounded duck throwing Steve Walsh as being a better NFL qb than Aikman. We all know how that worked out.
