Reality bites. I’m an LSU guy. So it really hurts me to be honest in saying the Great Steve Van Buren was not one of us.
His pictures clearly show Sub-Saharan features. His tight red kinki curls, his oversized a-typical teeth, his wide spread flat nose, large upper lip, his bug eyes etc.
How did he play at LSU during segregation? The old way of saying it is that he “passed.” Also, he “passed” in high school in New Orleans at Warren Easton High School.
He was from Honduras where race mixing was/is highly prevalent.
People in Louisiana can spot even the most convincing white looking mulattos. LSU knew. They just could not let such a superior athlete go. He looked white enough obviously.
A friend told me his numbers were so outrageous he said,”come on!” In other words, just the shear dominance so early is highly suspect that a white man achieved that. No offense to us.
No LSU fan or Eagles fan wants to admit it but pictures don’t lie. It doesn’t take an Anthropologist to see Van Buren is clearly part black. Which means all black in Baton Rouge.
Sorry. I know Van Buren played way before the 1960s.
BTW. If you delete my post you are threatened by the truth.
And if you think my acceptance that he was not one of us brings me any joy you are sadly mistaken.
God Bless
