Great race! Thank you for sharing.
The German men used to be very, very good in many track events.
Unfortunately, they have fallen off a cliff over the past 20 or so years.
Update on Ricky Pearsall who was injured again on Sunday.
The injury was "re-aggravating his PCL injury while also dealing with an ankle sprain."
The Niners are not sure of his status yet for next week.
Unfortunately Pearsall seems to be a bit fragile.
Puripol Boonson followed up his outstanding 100m win, with a great win in the 200m. His time was 20.07 with only a very slight wind of 0.2.
Maybe he will be ready for the biggest stages in the sport this coming year.
The indoor track season is just getting started, so results are sparse. However, sophomore Mia Shepard at UC Santa Barbara, looks like she might have a break through year. She just set school records in the indoor 200m and 400m - 24.09 and 52.93...
Do you guys remember Puripol Boonson from Thailand. Ran a real fast time as a teenager, but hadn't lived up to his potential?
Well he just ran a 9.94 (0.7w) Asian U20 Record in the heats (equal #5 world U20 all-time) of the Southeast Asian Games.
He followed that up with a 10.00 (-0.5) to win...
Josh Hoey shattered the 600m indoor World Record (or World Best), clocking a time of 1:12.84.
The previous record was 1:13.77.
BYU freshman Julie Hedengren ran 14:44.79 for the 5000m, breaking the NCAA record by nearly 8 seconds! A very remarkable performance.
In New Zealand (outdoors), 16...
Looking at the end of the year lists, I noticed that it was a very fine year for Japanese sprinting.
In Asia, the top 4 times in the men's 100 meters were produced by Japanese sprinters:
Yoshide Kiryu 9.99
Sorato Shimizu 10.00
Yuhi Mori 10.00
Hiroko Yanigita 10.00
That's quite a relay team...
I thought the track season was over, but there have been some meets in Australia and Japan happening recently.
Also the Chinese National Games just finished, and there was a very impressive result in women's 100m.
16 yr old Chen Yujie ran a blazing 11.10s (+0.7) to win the women’s 100m. (She...
The 1960s Chargers had Keith Lincoln, who was great, and then Dickie Post.
They also had 2 incredible receivers in Lance Alworth, and the very underrated Gary Garrison.
Somehow came across this guy, Doug Hawken, who I had never heard of.
Here he is in 1969, beating future Olympian and WR record holder, Eddie Hart.
Hawken ran a 9.2 for 100 yards in this race.
I wonder what happened with his career?
Gifford played most of the game after Warner went out with an injury.
So now the Niners have lost their 2 best defensive players for the season.
On top of Kittle, Purdy, Pearsall, etc.
Unfortunately, I think it's another lost season for them.
This is not a high schooler, but an 11 year old Australian girl, Harlow Storm Pate, who is breaking age group records Down Under.
I hope you can see this.
Femke Bol has announced that she is switching events to the 800m in 2026.
Apparently she wants to challenge herself, as she has dominated the 400m hurdles (outside of Sydney McLaughlin).
On the one hand, I can understand that. On the other, I'm disappointed.
49ers injuries continue. Kalia Davis their starting left Defensive Tackle, broke his hand against the Rams, and will require surgery.
It's unreal how many injured starters the 49ers have.
