    NFL Network Top 100 Players

O.J. Simpson was the most obviously guilty suspect in any high profile trial in recent history. Only unserious people or black racists argue otherwise. Since I started the thread and am keeping tabs on the series, KEEP ON THE SUBJECT.

    Some Reason For Optimism, But....

Why wasn't it arranged so that Big Ben's replacements would run up big passing stats? Are Vick and the other black QBs on the injured list faking their injuries?

    Some Reason For Optimism, But....

When does Peyton Manning get more money? When he wins, or when he loses? Who decides? Do you think (finally) it's fixed for Michael Vick to win the Super Bowl this year? Why didn't they arrange for Vick to win it all years ago? Why haven't the black QBs been complaining that The Man isn't...

Why Are Nearly All Quarterbacks White??

The colleges have been recruiting black QBs since the early 1970s. The ratio of black QBs being drafted will stay about the same as now. There will always be a desire for "projects." Hard to say about the spread. Football coaches aren't very smart as a group.

Why Are Nearly All Quarterbacks White??

I saw predictions of "in 10 years over half of NFL quarterbacks will be black" as far back as 1974, as I have previously written.

    2010 Week 6

Didn't happen. I saw the game on TV. O.J. went over 2000 before time ran out. The Bills (and O.J. himself) made sure he was over 2000 before the game ended. No post-game adjustment was necessary. Something like this DID happen with Mercury Morris and the 1972 Miami Dolphins. That year Morris...

    2010 Week 6

Padding your stats in garbage time was pioneered by O.J. Simpson back in the 1970's. Does anybody (besides me) remember the 1976 Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit? The Lions led the Bills 10-0 at halftime and 20-0 in the third quarter. Nearly 3 touchdowns behind, the Bills gave O.J. the ball on...

    NFL Network Top 100 Players

I recall seeing Alworth play for Arkansas in the 1961 Cotton Bowl. He ran a punt back for a touchdown, but Duke won 7-6. I saw him throughout his pro career. Alworth could jump in the air and catch the ball with the defenders hanging all over him. If he was close to the sideline, he would do...

    NFL Network Top 100 Players

I found an item at Associated Content by someone named Gary Davis who is not impressed by Lance Alworth. He writes: "Alworth did not have a huge career, but for the time he played (136 ganes over 11 seasons), he was a major standout. He was known mainly for his speed and was lucky that he...

    How do you confront DWF's?

Yes, I have never heard complaints about punters and especially placekickers being all white, and I have read and heard a lot of complaints by blacks and white sportswriters regarding sports over 50 years. The black schools have kickers, of course, but they aren't drafted, and nobody says...

    Doughty article

In 1961, the Kennedy administration told Marshall that he would have to sign black players or lose the lease on the new D.C. Stadium. He then traded the draft rights to Ernie Davis to Cleveland for Bobby Mitchell. Marshall wasn't "beaten out of owning that team." He was disabled by a stroke...

    Colt McCoy

It is a bit strange to have a rookie QB make his first start against a team like the Steelers. In the past, I've seen a team give the start in a situation like this to a veteran (who might be on his way out) while holding out the rookie. The theory was that the young QB might have his confidence...

    Favre SEX Scandal!!!

Absolutely. This is one reason Favre can't leave football as it is a kind of permanent childhood. No awareness of the trouble he could get into either.

Steve Van Buren - why isn't he a "pioneer"?

I am an old-line SEC fan for 50 years and NO blacks, and I mean NO, were allowed to play in the SEC before 1967. I don't know how many times I have to say it. The younger posters apparently find this hard to believe. It helps to live through an era to really know how it was. LSU, by the way...
