    NFL Week 1 2008

He had a fabulous game, but I'm sure the only thing the coaches will see is the man standing closest to him catching the game-winning touchdown...

    NFL Week 1 2008

Ryan Boschetti was released by the Redskins some time ago. I believe he is still a free agent. As much as I loathe the cowboys, Jason Witten is having a big game.

    NFL Week 1 2008

Dan Klecko has a sack, then went in at FB and paved the way for a Brian Westbrook TD. Stewart Bradley is all over the field too. However, I get nothing but crow, because DeSean Jackson is having an unreal game. I was 100% wrong...

Also, Drew Bennett was injured on his first reception of the game. He was carted off the field. Sorry for all the spam!Edited by: PhillyBirds

    NFL Week 1 2008

Sean Considine will be active on special teams and occasionally in nickel or dime packages. Also note, it appears that Brian Leonard is still suffering from a shoulder injury. Dan Kreider got the start at FB for the Rams.Edited by: PhillyBirds

    White Olympic Team

I agree. There's no need to get insulting when the conversation is rational and enlightening. I have learned a great deal about the NBA from this thread, and I enjoyed two people that know their stuff facing off and exchanging views. Edited by: PhillyBirds

    Reconstructing Culpepper

Well, the Green Bay situation is kind of a positive. the Packers could have gone the easy route and signed a black QB to take the reigns, but instead made it clear that Rogers was the starter. Hopefully they'll cling to him as tightly as Washington clings to Jason Campbell. Except Rogers is...

i wonder how many people feel this way

I think that's really impersonal. It would look funny to see a father and son crowding a computer monitor. Or for one of those game trackers to say when someone makes a spectacular catch, or a bone-crusing hit. I wasn't aware of such things.

    Reconstructing Culpepper

Sorry, the "guys like" part confused me. I just thought of the first guy like Culpepper or McNair. You are completely right about McNabb though. He'll think very highly of himself regardless of how poorly he perfoms.

A reason for NFL race bias

Welcome to the boards, sir. The brainwashing of said athletes is one of many factors contributing to the decline of white skill players. Another important reason is the same brainwashing of fans. Public opinion has a lot of influence in sports, although many are loathe to admit it. Thank you...

i wonder how many people feel this way

Interesting thought. It will be interesting to see to what extent the NFL looks into Internet markets. While it would seem that television is the obvious medium for football viewing, I can't think of a way to make football games accessible via the Web.

    Reconstructing Culpepper

Byron Leftwich seems content enough in Pittsburgh. Maybe he has some ulterior motive. Who knows? Hate to argue for the sake of it, but I think Culpepper's massively inflated ego contributed to this in a big way. I'm not necessarily saying Leftwich has a lesser ego but he has, for the time being...

    Reconstructing Culpepper

I'm still caught up on how he phrased his reason for retiring. He claimed that "No one gave him the chance to come in and earn a starting job." Does anyone else think that is the most pretentious thing they've ever heard? The context of this seems to suggest to me that he believes teams are...

    2008 Vanderbilt Commodores

Hawkins is a really explosive north-south runner. He hits the hole straight ahead and at a million miles an hour. That 13 yard blast was sheer strength. He's looking good! EDIT: Just realized. Black QB handing the ball to white RB. Is Caste Football incensed or ecstatic? Edited by: PhillyBirds

White WR’s up slightly, including injured

All good points, TJR. However Bloom was flat out too small. When he signed originally with the Eagles he came in at 5'9" and only 165 pounds. That's smaller than DeSean Jackson. Most defensive players could pull him down with one arm. Plus, when you're returning kicks you get the benefit of...

And we assume he'll face the same situation now, except with Troy Smith.

White WR’s up slightly, including injured

A good kick returner, yes, but don't take it too far TJR! Jeremy was not given enough chance anywhere, despite his natural athleticism. The Eagles, for instance, gave him only 2 punt returns in the entire preseason. So they went into the season with the untested JR Reed (who returned only...

    Preseason updates.

Most of the Eagles fans on discussion boards are puzzled why the Eagles got rid of Gasperson. He had an explosive preseason when he saw the field, and was especially prominent in their last game against the Jets. Even the Drunk White Fans were confused, and in places a little mad. The Eagles...

    Flacco, Harrington.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/nfl/specials/ preview/2008/09/01/flacco.ravens.ap/index.html Joe Flacco was named the starter for the season opener. I'm assuming that when Troy Smith is healthy again, he'll reclaim the job. Hopefully Joe can do well enough to fight this...

    Tropical Storm/Hurricane Forecast

I have two friends at Tulane, who are on their way back home to Philadelphia. Last year, Tulane had to end their semester early, if I recall. Thank goodness white people with means have the sense to get out as soon as possible.

Eagles cut (With descriptions from PhiladelphiaEagles.com): Jed Collins (FB) Good on special teams, but not enough on offense. Michael Gasperson (WR) Former practice squad project came on late in preseason. (Sort of upset about this one. More talent than folks like Greg Lewis...)...
