That's good news about Kerber. I never envisioned Vesnina beating Ray Lewis Jr. I thought her opponent, Cibulkova, in the quarters would have been a better match-up. But she laid an egg against Vesnina. Hope Kerber serves well in the final.

    Pickleball

This game is a blast. I started playing a few months ago and have to play at least once a week. Scores of over the hill people (seniors and near-seniors), such as I, are taking it up. Having a tennis background helps but certainly not a requirement. Try it, if you get a chance.

Well, Slammin' Sam Querry beat Djokovic in four sets. Djokovic apparently had regrouped after the overnight rain delay only to have another rain delay in the 3rd set with Djokovic up 4-0. Novak won that set but lost the 4th in a tie-breaker.

Djokovic is in huge trouble. He is two sets down (6-7, 1-6) to Sam Querry. Rain delay just as the second set ended. Djokovic looked totally befuddled in the latter part of the second set and seemed to be mentally somewhere else.

I was kind of hoping #7 seed Belinda Bencic would make some noise. Unfortunately she had to retire in her match today due to a wrist injury. She was also injured for the French Open. She is coached by the mother of Martina Hingis. I think she has a bright future, does have one victory over Ray...

Somewhere on this forum I touted Garbine Muguruza a couple of years ago. It took a little longer than I thought for her to get to the top echelon. As already stated, consistency is what is lacking with many of these gals. A healthy Muguruza has no excuse not to be a factor each and every outing...
