Houston Texans General Thread

I just read former Texan linebacker Bryan Braman has a very rare and aggressive cancer. Doesn’t sound good. Prayers for he and his family.

He carved out a seven-year career as a backup linebacker and special teams ace. He was part of those dominant (white) Texans defenses with Watt, Crick, Cushing, Cody, Barton and Reed playing starter roles.

Update: I just read he passed away, aged 38. Two children left behind. Sad.

Reed Blankenship to the Texans. 25 million over 3 years. I thought they had 2 good safeties so I’m worried for his new role.

Sad to see exciting Whites get split up, but deserved payday for Reed!

Jake Hummel signs 2 year with Texans. Elite special teamer, has starter potentially but very unlikely he gets defensive snaps unless there are injuries

They also signed former Colts tackle Braden Smith. He was a top free agent on nearly every board. Texans are slowly crawling out of the black hole of demographics the last 2 seasons. Still really bad but not the bottom 5 anymore.

Very bummed about this as the eagles were arguably the best pass defense in the nfl over the last 2 years since him and dejean began starting together. Of course the dwf in philly believe the black that will replace him will be automatically better. I predict more “communication breakdowns” and “missed assignments” for the eagles this season

Texans with 3 overachievers already?!
They also signed TE Foster Moreau and re-upped Dalton Schultz. Not a bad off-season for them. If they continue in the right direction in the draft, and have the stones to bench Stroud for Davis Mills, they’d be a team to follow.

Nice! Noticed they just signed another honkey. Guard Evan Brown formerly of AZ. 1yr/3.5mil

I was concerned when Blankenship signed with the Texans, but this is a good article about him. Sounds like they have big plans for him. Of course, the article has to list his so-called weaknesses; it just can't give him his due and let it go.

I knew before I read the article they would somehow or another bring speed(lack there of) into the article. After reading it I was not disappointed by the writer, he brought up speed, always happens with whitey. Reeds play with pads on is very fast so speed is not an issue. His abilities are far more than good.
