Lachlan Kennedy 6.43, 9.96 and 20.26

i'm here at Homebush fellas.
Heat 1 of 100m Kennedy 9.96 (0.2). Practically the most honest sub 10 I've seen
So so glad I was only 30 metres away to see it

It's a new personal best time and we are only in the opening heats. Give this kid a break. He ran his personal p.b. of 9.98 into a negative wind. Give him a wind at his back of 1.0 to 2.0 and people will be shocked at his times! 9.80's barring injury or exteme bad luck is coming in the
next race or two. Then he will arrive for good on the world stage and track fans everywhere will take notice!

Then to finish, Cameron Miles runs 1500m from the front all the way to go sub 3.30

Patrick Johnson is waiting for Lachie to get his Australian record and thinks he'll be a 9.80s man.
When that happens he'll be only the second of non-African descent to go sub 9.90 - behind Su Bingtian. Will it open more flood gates world-wide?

Lachlan Kennedy is aiming to run in the 9.80's range this weekend if the conditions are good. Love this kids confidence. I know he is capable of at minimum a time of 9.95 right now. Can anyone access this article? Hoping Mastermulti can help us out here?

no sorry. I don't subscribe to this newspaper

I already predicted 9.80's and he is close. He will break Patrick Johnson 9.93 record in the semi finals or finals. I truely believe that. If
he had a tiny wind today he would have equaled or beat it already.

The bigger prediction for me is that Lachie will go anywhere from 20.10 - 20.15 in the 200 meters. I believe he has sub 20 ability. I don't think he will do it this weekend though because of the number of races. I want to see him join Lemaitre, Guliyev and Matthew Boling as the only white sprinters in the sub 10 and sub 20 Club!

Boling. I guess his thread is dead.

what a start to the season for Kennedy! I really hope he can get into the 9.8s. That’s rare and elite company.

icsept beat me to the punch but I was going to mention that Boling is in the sub 10/20 club along with Guliyev and Lemaitre. A rare feat indeed to make it in that club.

Hey guys. Please do me a favor? Let's try to keep this thread the majority of time about Lachlan Kennedy. We can talk about these things on the track results thread or the Boling thread. I appreciate it as Lachie deserves his own thread & space. He will be the fastest white sprinter in the history of the world over the 100 meters in the very near future! Can't wait for the semi finals and finals. Fireworks incoming!

I can't get this link above to let me register. Probably because Australia is so strict.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE POST A LINK TO WATCH THIS WHEN IS STARTS TONIGHT? THANKS. :p

I just watched the replay of his 9.96 and his drive phase was nothing short of spectacular. Even more impressive is he continued to pull away the entire race.

Take a look at "gout gout". You'll never convince me that thing is human - sorry. And of course he chimped and trash talked after getting beat.

Lachie Kennedy upstages Gout Gout to win 200m at Peter Norman Memorial
‘You’ve just got to not freak out, stay relaxed’
Kennedy also won 100m, ahead of Rohan Browning

“Today he got the win, but next time I’ll be better for sure,” Gout said after crossing the line second, five hundredths of a second behind the winner. “It was very rocky.”

there's probably some forums you'd enjoy more than this then

semi, Kennedy 10.05 .
in the final He repeated his 9.96 (+0.5) from yesterday but with a slightly slower start and only 16C tonight.
Azzopardi (10.16) got past in the last metre or so from Browning (10.19) but Browning isn't quite fit enough in the last 20m yet. He's getting better every race though to prepare for Com Games in Edinburgh.
A lot of the relay guys were there this meet but they're just delaying peaking at this time for the same Com Games where our 4 x 100 is a big medal chance

like I said .06 is a lot to improve over a 100m race. Now posting times of 9.6 legal in 3 races is very good. It will happen and it will happen this season, so he needs to just let it happen. Browning's form is starting to come together and he will be knocking on sub 10 hopefully. For Kennedy his start has to be snappy, his transition to drive phase then to be able to relax whilst holding his top end speed is crucial, any slips and his times will falter. He is on the right track, pardon the pun lol

Moving forward, he will not be weighed down with any of that 10.00 psychological barrier.

Would love to see him compete in some one and done races under good conditions.

Guys we have never seen one of our guys go sub 10 two days in a row until now. Lachlan Kennedy is special. He is built to survive the rounds.
The 200's in practice and in races are paying dividends as his last 40 meters has been amazing. It's too bad the weather didn't cooperate as
both Patrick Johnson and Christophe Lemaitre had the maximum legal winds in their 9.93 and 9.92 races. Lachie will destroy those records soon. I would rather have him run these times all under his own power anyway. What a superstar we have in Lachlan Kennedy!

It was great to see the great Matt Shirvington(Shirvo) do the interview. From one legend to another. Shirvo started this modern movemnt
of Australian Sprinting. So much respect to him and now we see the changing of the guard!

If you guys rewatch the race above you will see that Lachlan Kennedy had a slower start. He had to work over the last 40 meters to run
his 2nd 9.96 in two days. If he nails the start he would have went alot faster. The weather didn't help either. Still happy with him finally
winning his first Australian Championship after the heart breaking loss to Rohan Browning last year.

the women's final was a very moderate affair.
Out top 3 national level ladies chose not to compete this year, with their form already assuring relay squad duties. So th efinal was really for cementing the other relay contenders for Glasgow
