Travis Kelce, TE

I notice #11 on the list is Jackie Smith. He was a great tight end, mostly forgotten today, with the St. Louis Cardinals. If people today know him at all, it's because he dropped a TD pass in one of the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl appearances and it's on Youtube. Actually, he probably had among the best hands of any tight end ever, and without gloves, of course. Also, on Youtube are Jackie Smith Highlights. Watch them. The St. Louis Cardinals drafted him as a wide receiver but in his rookie year the Cardinals' tight end went down with an injury and Smith took on the role. He then started at TE for the next dozen years or so with St. Louis before playing another few years with the Cowboys. By then injuries had seriously reduced his once great speed. In high school and college in Louisiana he was a hurdler and even ran some sprints. In the NFL he had something like a half-dozen TD receptions of more than 70 yards. The Youtube highlights include footage of him in flat out footraces with defensive backs and outrunning them. If Smith had been on one of the NFL's top teams, instead of the Cardinals, I suspect his receiving statistics, as impressive as they are, would have been considerably better.
Amazing that Jackie's average reception was 16.5 yards! Incredible for a tight end.
